    Nin and Aftab Shivdasani announce production company, Mount Zen Media

    MUMBAI: Aftab Shivdasani and wife Nin Dusanj Shivdasani have launched their production company Mount Zen Media on 20 July 2020. The husband and wife team have partnered on this together to create content ranging from films, online shows and documentaries.

    Aftab Shivdasani said, “We are very excited to announce our company today as we have been wanting to get into production for a long time. Having produced before I am familiar with the business of cinema. These are exciting times to develop content that is cutting edge, contemporary and appealing. Being in the industry for over 20 years has given me a great deal of experience in front of the camera and valuable insight in filmmaking.”

    Nin Dusanj Shivdasani shares, “Coming from a creative background from art, design, advertising and branding it’s interesting to be involved in a new medium of production, where all areas of my experience will be in use. I am excited for this new endeavour as there are so many fascinating stories to be told on this creative journey. Always intrigued by the art of storytelling, I look forward to working with a multitude of talent across various projects.”

    Mount Zen Media was formed under the ideology of Zen, which tries to free the mind from the slavery of fixed notions and ideas and instead focuses on the intuitive process of creativity. Filmmaking has always been a highly creative and imaginative process which Mount Zen Media hope to project through all their work. It aims to produce good quality content that deserves to be told and is high on entertainment.

    Grand Masti gets a whooping Rs 39.8 crore opening

    Grand Masti has a terrific weekend raking in a big moolah at the box office. The film, with huge support from single screens, has collected Rs 39.8 crore for its opening weekend. This is a sequel to the previous adult comedy Masti and the three friends are back together and this time they are coming together at their college reunion. The film stars Ritesh Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani and Vivek Oberoi.

     

    John Day has not been able to make a mark despite Naseeruddin Shah leading the cast. The film has managed to collect just about Rs 1.7crore for the first weekend.

     

    Horror Story, a grossly under publicised film, has managed to cross the Rs two crore mark in its first three days.

     

    Shuddh Desi Romance has had a good first week. A pleasant love story with a contemporary theme of live-in couple scared to commit through the institution of marriage, the film has collected Rs 35.7 crore for its first week.

     

    Zanjeer, much in news because of its copyrights controversy involving the writers of the original version and the production house, Prakash Mehra Productions, has turned out to be a damp squib, having collected just Rs 13.75 crore.

     

    Satyagraha, which failed to stir up the box office and collected Rs 51.7 crore in its first week, has added Rs 6.9 crore in its second week to take its two week total to Rs 58.6 crore.

     

    Madras Café has collected Rs 1.1 crore in its third week to take its three week tally to Rs 40.65 crore.

     

    Channai Express has added Rs 1.1 crore in its fifth week thus taking its six week total to Rs 200.5 crore.

    Eros International acquires worldwide distribution rights of Grand Masti

    Eros International, a leading global company in the Indian film entertainment industry, has acquired the worldwide distribution rights of the highly anticipated comedy Grand Masti. The film releases on 13 September.

     

    The film is a sequel to the 2004 smash hit Masti and features Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh reprising their roles from the original and is directed by Indra Kumar.

     

    Speaking on the occasion, Eros International MD Sunil Lulla said, “We are happy to continue our long association with Ashok Thakeria and Indra Kumar. Grand Masti is one of the most eagerly awaited sequels this year and with the huge success Masti enjoyed, we are confident its sequel too will be a winner at the box office. The film promises double the dose of laughter and masti as is evident from the promos and we are anticipating a very encouraging response to the film.”

     

    Producer Ashok Thakeria added, “Grand Masti is a sequel to India’s first adult comedy, carrying forward the tone set in the first part. We are positive the film will deliver what it promises and are very happy to have Eros releasing the film worldwide. Our relationship with Eros goes back a long way with them distributing all our films overseas – from Raja to Masti. This is the first time they are releasing our film worldwide and we couldn’t have asked for a better platform for its showcasing.”

     

    Grand Masti is the story of three married guys Vivek Oberoi as Meet, Aftab Shivdasani as Prem and Riteish Deshmukh as Amar go out on fun experience in their college reunion, finally to be trapped in danger. The film also features Bruna Abdalah, Karishma Tanna,Sonalee Kulkarni, Kainaat Arora, Maryam Zakaria and Manjari Fadnis in key roles.

    Star India buys world satellite rights to three PNC films

    MUMBAI: Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd has announced that the world satellite rights to its latest productions, Ankahee, Pyar Ke Side Effects and Bow Barracks Forever have been purchased by Star TV Network. The company didn’t divulge the financial details of the deals.

    Ankahee, directed by Vikram Bhatt, stars Aftab Shivdasani, Esha Deol and Ameesha Patel. Pyar Ke Side Effects, a romantic comedy, is directed by Saket Chowdhury. The movie features Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose in the title roles. Anjan Datta’s Bow Barracks Forever, which is also scheduled for release this summer stars the likes of Neha and Lilette Dubey, Victor Banerjee and Moon Moon Sen.

    The india distribution rights for Ankahee is shared between Raj Enterprises (Bombay), Sahyog Films (Nizam) and PVR Pictures (Delhi and Punjab). Inox Leisure has acquired four territories, Mysore, Rajasthan, West Bengal and CI. Venus Tapes & Records have acquired the overseas territory. T Series has already released the film’s music.
