    All films of YRF to be released at IMAX theatres

    MUMBAI: IMAX Corporation and India’s largest film studio Yash Raj Films Pvt. Ltd. today announced an expansion of their partnership to release Paani as well as all upcoming Yash Raj Films in IMAX theatres across India and other key markets.

    Paani is based in a future world where wars have broken out over water which is owned by International Corporations who use thirst as a weapon of control. In one such futuristic city, a young love story breaks all the rules and in the ensuing war, water flows back to its people.

    The film will have a strong Indian and Western star cast, headed by a young leading actor from India and a young leading actress from the West. Produced by Aditya Chopra, it is being directed by Shekhar Kapur and will be shot in India and overseas.

    The film will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of the IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology for presentation in IMAX. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX‘s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique immersive environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
    The agreement announced at the ongoing FICCI FRAMES brings the total number of films included under the expanded partnership to three, the first one being the upcoming action thriller Dhoom:3 which will open in IMAX theatres this winter.

    “Since announcing the IMAX release of Dhoom:3, we’ve seen tremendous anticipation building among Indian moviegoers around this first-ever IMAX release of a Hindi feature film, and we’re excited to add to this excitement with two more of our highly anticipated films, including our most ambitious one, Paani,” said Yash Raj Films Chairman Aditya Chopra.

    “We believe that together with IMAX, we will usher in a new era in Indian movie-going that will immerse fans into the drama, action and grandeur of Hindi movies like nothing they have experienced before,” he added.

    Dhoom:3 first Bollywood movie to release in Imax

    MUMBAI: Aamir Khan-starrer Dhoom:3, the action thriller from Yash Raj Films, will be the first Bollywood film to release in Imax theatres across India and select global locations next winter.

    Imax, which operates four theatres in India, will digitally re-master the movie into the image and sound quality with proprietary Imax DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology.

    From producer Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya, and starring Aamir Khan, Dhoom:3 is the next installment in one of the most popular franchises in Indian box office history.

    Also starring Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif, the film tells the story of the adventures of Jai Dixit, a no-nonsense cop, and his scatterbrained partner, Ali. The success of Dhoom and Dhoom:2 have established this as Bollywood‘s pre-eminent franchise.

    “Imax has always symbolised high-quality film entertainment and experience and this vision of the company works very well with the ethos of YRF, which has been synonymous with Indian film entertainment over the last four decades,” said Yash Raj Films chairman Yash Chopra.

    Ek Tha Tiger to open on 15 August

    MUMBAI: After the makers of the 3D format of Sholay backed out of the release of the film on 15 August, the place has been promptly taken by YRF‘s Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif-starrer Ek Tha Tiger .

    Earlier, the film was scheduled to release on 13 August and have a long weekend along with Sholay 3D as its only competitor in the week. But, among a buzz that the makers of the 3D formatted Sholay postponed the release of the film getting scared of Tiger, Jayantilal Gala interrupted to say that the sound part of the film was taking time. Hence, the delay.

    A romantic thriller, Ek Tha Tiger is produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Kabir Khan.

    Salman-Katrina will be seen together on the screen after four years.Their last film together was the 2008 release, Yuvvraaj.

    Ek Tha Tiger will release on Wednesday. Incidentally, Salman Khan‘s starrer Bodyguard also released on Wednesday (31 August) last year.

    YRF’s Ishaqzaade to release on 18 May

    MUMBAI: Yash Raj Films’ upcoming offering, Ishaqzaade, has been scheduled to hit the silver screen on 18 May.

    Ishaqzaade is a love story about two people born to hate and destined to love. It is all about passion ignited by hatred.

    Produced by Aditya Chopra and written and directed by Habib Faisal, the film will see the launch of Arjun Kapoor, son of Boney Kapoor, along with Parineeti Chopra, in the lead role.

    This is Parineeti’s second film with YRF after having won six awards so far for her debut role in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl that released last December.

    Incidentally, Faisal has been credited of writing Band Baaja Baraat and directing the award winning film, Do Dooni Chaar.

    Release of Ek Tha Tiger deferred, makes way for Dhuan

    MUMBAI: The release of YRF’s Ek Tha Tiger has been postponed to an Eid release next year.

    The release has been postponed since Aamir Khan wanted to release his next film Dhuan, directed by Reema Kagti, on 1 June for which he requested Salman Khan and producer Aditya Chopra to reschedule the release of their project.

    “Owing to close relationship and mutual respect they share with one another, both Chopra and Khan were happy to oblige and shift the release to Eid,” a Yash Raj Films (YRF) statement said.

    Earlier, the film starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif among others was to release on 1 June 2012.

    Ek Tha Tiger is currently being shot in Dublin from where it will move on to Turkey for its next schedule.
