    Mumbai: Non-telco internet service provider (ISP) ACT Fibernet announced the launch of its OTT aggregator platform, YuppTV Scope. It will offer its users a range of OTT applications such as ZEE5, SonyLIV, and Voot Select.

    YuppTV scope provides users with a single-subscription OTT streaming platform with a large selection of live TV channels, eliminating the time-consuming task of accessing and managing multiple apps on their devices.

    Customers will receive 400+ live channels, 1000+ TV shows, 500+ originals, and 10,000+ movies as part of this package.

Under the partnership, "Entertainment" plan users of ACT Fibernet would be able to pay for their monthly Netflix subscription through their ACT Fibernet bill with an assured cashback of up to Rs 350 per month. The offer will be available for ACT Fibernet customers Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad in the beginning.

    ACT Fibernet seeks funding; discloses financials

    MUMBAI: In its prospectus with SEBI, ACT Fibernet submitted the financial details and is looking for fund-raising to expand the business across India. ACT Fibernet reported revenue of Rs 1,217 crore and EBITDA of Rs 211.67 crore in fiscal 2017.

    In the six months ended 30 September 2017, the revenue was Rs 684 crore and EBITDA was Rs 286 crore. In fiscal 2016, ACT Fibernet posted revenue of Rs 874 crore and EBITDA of Rs 323 crore. Moreover, in fiscal 2015, it registered the revenue of Rs 618 crore and EBITDA of Rs 468 crore.

    According to the reports, ACT Fibernet had approximately 1.28 million wired broadband internet customers and 0.71 million cable TV customers as at 31 December 2017. It reported a monthly ARPU of Rs 813 in fiscal 2017, Rs 756 in fiscal 2016 and Rs 684 in fiscal 2015 from retail wired broadband internet business.

    The wired broadband internet market is expected to grow from 18.1 million subscribers as at 31 December 2016 to 24 million by 31 December 2021, according to a study by MPA.

    Revenue from wired broadband internet service business accounted for 82.77 per cent, 90.31 per cent, 91.61 per cent and 91.38 per cent of total income for fiscals 2015, 2016 and 2017 and the six months ended 30 September 2017 respectively.

    Revenue from cable TV service business accounted for 11.86 per cent, 6.13 per cent, 4.61 per cent and 5.21 per cent of total income from operations for fiscals 2015, 2016 and 2017 and the six months ended 30 September 2017 respectively.

    Standing at the third largest position across the wired broadband internet service provider in India, the company bags the market share of 6.9 per cent as at 30 September 2017 according to MPA. Its fibre broadband network covers 5.4 million plus residential homes in the markets in which it operated as at 30 September 2017, according to MPA.

    ACT Fibernet said it invested significantly to develop fibre broadband network. The majority of the fibre network utilises an advanced Metro Ethernet Active FTTX technology. It also utilises GPON technology in certain parts of the network.

    BENGALURU: Braving torrential rain, 8,000 people came to the Bengaluru leg of the Fastrack Music Run on Saturday, 19 August 2017. The event creators Fresh Events Global, The Music Run™, managed to rope in a r of sponsors – these included Titan Company Limited’s funky brand Fastrack as the title sponsor. Other sponsors were ACT Fibernet, Harman, Nokia, United Colours of Benetton, Pringles, Sofit, Pepsi Black, Budweiser Experiences, Radio Indigo, Clarks Exotica, Vh1, INOX and Himalayan Water.

    The event promoters, Baseline Ventures, say that the Bengaluru event has been one of the best they’ve seen with the crowd really getting into The Music Run spirit. The event paid good dividend to the sponsors.

  • TRAI may invite ideas to boost b’cast & tele-products manufacturing

    MUMBAI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will consider studying the issue of testing and quality of mobile phones and set-top boxes as part of a wider consultation to boost manufacturing of telecom and broadcasting products. The issue is important because telecom operators had flayed mobile handset quality for call drops and approached the Government saying the role of devices in issue of service quality had not been adequately considered.

    TRAI’s discussion paper pertaining to incentivising manufacturers of broadcasting and telecom equipment is in the works, sources told PTI. It may be released in the next month. Amongst other aspects, the paper may explore possible sops for operators who use indigenous products in their networks.

    Meanwhile, on the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, COAI conducted a high-level roundtable to highlight and discuss the role of technology in the advancement of 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The event focused on the success story of the Indian telecom revolution.

    Experts called for a closer collaboration between five ministries and Government departments of DoT, MeitY, MoC, MHRD, I&B and Skill Development. COAI emphasised the need for digital literacy and capacity building and creation of local language content for actualising the real potential of Digital India.

    Over Rs 9.2 lakh crore has been invested by Telecom Service Providers in building world class telecom Infrastructure. About 3.51 lakh BTSs were added, and subscribers have crossed the mark of one billion. Total internet subscribers in India are 261.31 million as per TRAI data.

    MUMBAI: Singapore based video-on-demand service, HOOQ, has joined hands with Bengaluru’s ACT Fibernet. With this strategic partnership, ACT customers of Hyderabad will be able to avail a month’s free subscription of the service.

    The partnership is being piloted in Hyderabad, and will later be taken to other ACT markets such as Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi.

    “Under this partnership, ACT customers will be able to avail one month of free HOOQ subscription that translates into a window to unlimited streaming of over 10,000 Hollywood, Bollywood and local movies along with drama titles available on HOOQ,” said HOOQ India MD Salil Kapoor.
