    Mumbai: Hindi news channel Aaj Tak announced that its new show helmed by Sudhir Chaudhary will air on Tuesday, 19 July starting at 9 p.m. The channel has released several promos hinting at the name of the show which is expected to be Black & White.

    As part of the promotions, the channel broadcast turns black & white during brief moments of the day hinting at the show’s name. The channel is also airing three promos where Sudhir Chaudhary is seen giving hints regarding the show’s name.

    Earlier, Aaj Tak had launched a technology-driven interactive campaign directly engaging its viewers with ideas for its show with Sudhir Chaudhary. Titled #AskSudhir, the campaign garnered three lakh plus WhatsApp messages, 1.2 lakh plus listens on Twitter Spaces and 75,000 Tweets and trended on Twitter for six hours on 15 July.

    The former editor-in-chief and CEO of Zee Media joined TV Today Network last week as consulting editor for Aaj Tak.

    Mumbai: Aaj Tak, the Hindi news channel from India Today Group, and veteran journalist Sudhir Chaudhary experimented with a technology-driven interactive digital campaign.

    The campaign #AskSudhir garnered over three lakh plus WhatsApp messages, 1.2 lakh plus listens on Twitter spaces and 75,000 plus Tweets and trended for about six hours on the top during the day.

    The social media campaigns saw Aaj Tak viewers and lakhs of netizens engage on Twitter spaces and the Chatbot campaign, and emotionally connect with Sudhir Chaudhary on Aaj Tak.

    Mumbai: Sudhir Chaudhary will be joining Aaj Tak as a Consulting Editor. He has recently resigned as the chief executive officer of Zee Media where he was associated for over 10 years with the news broadcaster.

    India Today Group’s vice-chairperson Kalli Purie in a letter welcomed him and said, “Sudhir and Aaj Tak are collaborating to bring to our 100 million viewers an exciting new show anchored by him. This show will be under the supervision of news director Supriya Prasad.”

    Sudhir was last seen on the award-winning, high-engagement, TRP record-setting show DNA. He has one of the largest followings on social media and a galaxy of awards from every reputable organization.

    Sudhir resigned from Zee Media to start his venture. Commenting on his new innings, Purie added, “I am glad he has taken a call that will not disappoint his fans who are paramount for him. It’s excellent that his first venture is in alliance with us, and I hope that we will be able to work together on other projects. I also wish him well for his non-news initiatives.”

    “I am confident that Sudhir and Aaj Tak will be a powerhouse combination that further strengthens our portfolio of superstar anchors making us the news brand in the country,” she further added in the letter.

    Barc Week 26: Aaj Tak garners 12.6 per cent relative share in HSM 15+ market

    Mumbai: News channel Aaj Tak is leading the Hindi-speaking market (HSM) 15+ audience in terms of share of Gross Rating Points (GRPs) during Week 26 i.e., between 25 June to 1 July for the time band 0200 – 2600 hours, as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (Barc) data shared with Indiantelevision.com by the channel.

    The Hindi news channel garnered 16.2 GRPs and 12.6 per cent relative share in the HSM followed closely by India TV with 12.4 per cent share.

    News18 India and Republic Bharat had 11.3 per cent and 11.1 per cent shares, respectively. TV9 Bharatvarsh and Zee News had 9.3 per cent and 8.7 per cent shares, respectively. Times Now Navbharat and ABP News had 7.0 per cent and 6.2 per cent shares, respectively. News Nation and Good News Today recorded 5.5 per cent and 4.9 per cent shares, respectively.

    The Hindi news genre garnered a total of 128.5 GRPs during Week 26.

    Barc Week 26: India TV maintains steady viewership, records 13.2 percent relative share in HSM market

    Mumbai: India TV continued to be the leading news channel in the Hindi-speaking market (HSM) during Week 26 i.e., 25 June to 1 July for the time band 0600-2400 hrs, as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (Barc) India data for 15+ audience. India TV shared the data with Indiantelevision.com.

    India TV had a relative share of 13.2 per cent slipping from 13.5 per cent in the previous weeks. It was followed closely by Aaj Tak which had 13.1 per cent share. Notably, this is the fourth consecutive week that India TV is leading the HSM market in terms of share of AMAs (000).

    News18 India and Republic Bharat had 11.9 per cent and 11.7 per cent shares, respectively. They were followed by TV9 Bharatvarsh and Zee News with 9.9 per cent and 9.2 per cent shares, respectively. 

    Aaj Tak and Republic Bharat’s share in the HSM market has been steadily increasing since Week 23 while News18 India and TV9 Bharatvarsh’s share has been declining.

    Times Now Navbharat and ABP News’ relative shares stood at 7.3 per cent and 6.6 per cent. ABP News’ relative share has been steadily increasing over the last few weeks from 6.0 per cent in Week 23 to 6.6 per cent in Week 26.

    News Nation and Good News Today had a relative share of 5.8 per cent and 5.3 per cent, respectively.

    The Hindi news genre grew by three per cent in Week 26 over Week 25 in terms of overall average minute audience AMA (000), as per Barc data. The AMAs increased from 2182 (000) AMAs in Week 25 to 2247 (000) AMA in Week 26.

    Average minute audience is defined as the number of individuals of a target audience who viewed a televised “event”, averaged across minutes.

    India TV saw a further increase in its relative share during the crucial morning and evening prime time bands during which news content is primarily consumed i.e., at 0700 – 1000 hrs and 2000 to 2300 hrs.

    In the morning prime time band, India TV had a big lead with 29.5 per cent relative share followed by Aaj Tak which had 21.6 per cent relative share. In the evening prime time, India had 24.8 per cent relative share followed by Aaj Tak with 20.0 per cent share and News18 India with 19.5 per cent share.

    Platform level data by Airtel shows that India TV leads in terms of relative share on Airtel Xstream in HSM market during Week 26.

    India TV had 25.3 per cent relative share on Airtel Xstream followed by Aaj Tak at 24.5 per cent, R Bharat at 18.6 per cent, Zee News at 16.8 per cent and ABP News at 14.8 per cent.

    Regarding Facebook Live views, India TV garnered 59.71 million views from 25 June to 1 July. Aaj Tak garnered 44.67 million views, ABP News FB Live views stood at 44.23 million, News18 India at 20.79 million and Zee News at 19.32 million.

    Aaj Tak regains its pole position in Barc ratings

    Mumbai: TV Today Network’s Hindi news channel Aaj Tak has witnessed record growth and regained its number one position in the recent viewership ratings released by Broadcasters Audience Research Council (Barc) for week 16.

    As per the industry’s first ‘Customised Event Report’ released by Barc on Friday, Aaj Tak has established its supremacy in coverage of events of national importance. The channel has a daily average reach of 20.6 million.

    The CER data also showed that Aaj Tak’s coverage of Jehangirpuri encroachment demolition gave it growth of 188 per cent in 15+ HSM, 225 per cent in 2+ pay India and 182 per cent in 2+ All India.

    Commenting on this milestone, TV Today Network’s CEO (television & radio) Rahul Shaw said, “We have been the number one news source for a television audience for 21 years due to the trust earned by us. Aaj Tak is the only news channel to get 10 crore viewers week on week every week throughout 2022. We thank our viewers again for trusting only Aaj Tak when it comes to news that matters.”

    Barc 13-week historical data shows Aaj Tak in the lead

    Mumbai: The past 13 weeks historic data by Broadcast Audience Research Council (Barc) India indicates that news channel Aaj Tak was leading the Hindi-speaking market (HSM) (U+R) from week 49’2021 till week 10’2022 in terms of market share. Aaj Tak garnered 25.5 per cent of the market share amongst eight opt-in news channels that include TV9 Bharatvarsh, Republic Bharat, Zee News, News Nation, Zee Hindustan, DD News and India News.

    In the HSM Urban market, Aaj Tak’s lead was stronger as it garnered a market share of 27 per cent versus its nearest competitor TV9 at 20.7 per cent. The competition for eyeballs in the HSM Rural market was more intense with Aaj Tak at top with 23.2 per cent but with TV9 Bharatvarsh following closely at 22 per cent.

    Republic Bharat (20.8 per cent) and Zee News (15.6 per cent) were the only other channels whose market share was in double digits. The top four channels had 82.3 per cent share in the HSM market. However, it should be noted that historical Barc data does not include prominent news channels including India TV, News18 India, ABP News, Good News Today, News 24 and NDTV India who have opted out of past ratings. NDTV India has pulled out of ratings completely.

    Barc India has released data for individual news channels after a 17-month hiatus. The TV audience measurement agency had also agreed to release past 13 weeks data after consultation with industry stakeholders.
