Allied Domecq’s next golf inside the office

MUMBAI: If you can’t bring horse to water, then try bringing water to horse. And that is exactly what Allied Domecq is doing by spawning a new tradition, golf inside the office.

Designed for jet setting executives and busy professionals who
have little time to indulge in a game of golf, Allied Domecq has announced the ‘Teacher’s Achievers Office Golf Championship’, India’s first ever inside-office Golf Championship, in Delhi.

The event is supported by Teacher’s Highland Cream, the flagship scotch brand from the wide-ranging Allied Domecq portfolio. According to a company release, response to the Teacher’s Achievers Office Golf Championship has been overwhelming and leading corporates like Pepsi, HSBC, Samsung, Shopper’s Stop and Grey Worldwide have confirmed participation.

Says Allied Domecq Spirits and Wines (I), managing director, Harish Moolchandani, “Celebrating the spirit of achievement
across all genres, we are pleased to bring ‘Teacher’s Achievers
Office Golf Championship’ to Delhi – yet another first from
Allied Domecq. Through this golf championship we intend to
highlight outstanding performances and leadership qualities
that are resident in each individual.”

Allied Domecq has joined hands with 9 Yards Sports and Entertainment for the event. Apart from being a sporting event, the ‘Teacher’s Achievers Office Golf Championship’ is an initiative that allows corporate executives to let their hair down. It not only fosters better HR relations, it lends to the lowering of stress levels that corporates are often identified with, says the release.

The rules of Office Golf are simple and the participants don’t need to be golfers to take part in the ‘Teachers Achievers Office Golf Championship’. The Teacher’s Achievers implementation team will set up a 3-hole Golf course within the participating offices. ‘The Teacher’s Office Golf Team’ will guide the participants during the event. The winner from each participating office will then go on to compete with other office champions at the city final.

This unique event was first launched in Mumbai in December
2003 and over 60 corporates took part. Corporate stalwarts
including Prudential ICICI, Coca-Cola India, reliance Capital
Asset Management Ltd, Radio Mirchi, Hyatt Regency, Tata
Indicom and Mukta Arts made it to the Mumbai finals, says the release.

Spanning across the next two months, Teachers Achievers Office
Golf Championship will be held in the top corporates of Delhi.
From Delhi, the championship will move on to the IT city of
Bangalore where another set of corporates will vie for this
top position. The winners of these three cities battle it out
for the top slot at the national level, adds the release.
