Mukul Deora bags filming rights of The White Elephant

MUMBAI: Mukul Deora, son of Union Petroleum minister Murli Deora, whose first venture Bheja Fry 2 is slated for release on 17 June, has lapped up filming rights of The White Tiger.

The film will be made under the banner of New York-based Smuggler Films and be produced by Deora and John Hart.

Based on a Booker prize winning novel by Aravind Adiga, the film is about a man‘s journey from Indian village life to entrepreneurial success.

“I believe The White Tiger is a universal story, a scathing satire on the journey of a poor man through the corrupt system set in contemporary India. It’s extremely relevant to what is happening in India today. I am happy to be getting an opportunity to tell this story, “ Deora said.

On the sequel of Bheja Fry, Deora commented: “The sequel is a comic venture that takes the core strengths of the original and blows it up to a bigger and better project.”
