Airtel 5G Plus becomes top IPL 16 ad brand: TAM Sports report

Mumbai: TAM Sports has released its report on commercial advertising on TV during the IPL 2023. The number of categories & advertisers in IPL 16 have subsequently increased during matches nine to 16 as compared to matches one to eight.

Ecom-Gaming & Pan Masala retained first & second positions respectively in IPL 16. Three out of the top five categories belonged to the food and beverage sector. Collectively, the five most prominent categories accounted for 57 per cent of the ad volumes in this IPL season. Ecom-Gaming & Pan Masala were the only common categories between IPL 16 and 15. The top five advertisers contributed 38 per cent share of ad volumes during 16 matches of IPL 16 out of which Sporta Technologies (Dream11.Com) and K P Pan Foods were the top two advertisers common in both IPL 16 & 15.

In 16 matches of IPL 16, there were 53 new brands advertised across 14 new categories compared to the same number of matches in IPL 15. Overall new categories consisted of three e-commerce categories during IPL 16. Among the 53 new brands, ‘Airtel 5G Plus’ was the leading brand followed by ‘Parle Platina Hide & Seek Bourbon’. Out of the top five new brands, two of them belonged to the F&B sector and two from the telecom sector.
