  • Zee Café to kick off new season ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ on 9 October

    MUMBAI: Zee Café has announced the launch of the late night chat show from the US, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno starting 9 October. The channel will air all new episodes of the current season, every weekday, straight from Los Angeles.

    Speaking at the launch of the show, Zee Cafe business head Neil Chakravarti said, “We are really excited to be able to bring the Café audience daily episodes of The Tonight Show. Jay Leno has been the most popular late night anchor for a while now and I am sure Indian viewers will love watching the show. Together with E! News, which will follow The Tonight Show, Café will now be airing an hour and half of daily content every week night, straight from Hollywood.”

    Many of the world’s most popular celebrities, guests from the world of music and newsworthy names make it to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In addition to the upcoming 15-year milestone, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno has experienced numerous highlights during his reign, including winning four Emmy Awards – the first in 1995 for Outstanding Comedy, Variety or Music Series, and in 1996, 1997 and 1999 for Outstanding Technical Direction. In 1999 and 2000, The Tonight Show took home the trophy for Favorite Late Night Show in the annual TV Guide Awards determined by voting viewers, states an official release.

  • Zee Café presents second season of Tyra Bank’s popular reality show America’s Next Top Model

    Mumbai, August 7, 2006: Zee Café, the 24-hour premiere English entertainment channel is all set to launch the second season of Tyra’s popular reality series “America’s Next Top Model”, starting August 11, 2006. Leading supermodel Tyra Banks is the producer and the anchor of America’s Next Top Model, a reality show where fourteen aspiring supermodels will battle it out to win not only the crown but also a glamorous career. The show will be telecast every Friday at 9 p.m., exclusively on Zee Café.

     

    America’s Next Top Model

    Created by world-renowned supermodel Tyra Banks, America’s Next Top Model chronicles the transformation of everyday young women into potentially fierce supermodels. Fourteen participants will live together and vie for the incredible grand prize: an opportunity to be managed by Ford Models, a fashion spread in Elle magazine, and a $100,000 contract with Cover Girl.

     

    Cameras catch each moment as participants face weekly tests that determine who makes the cut. With mentoring by supermodel Tyra Banks and exposure to high-profile fashion industry gurus, the finalists compete in a highly accelerated modeling boot camp, a crash course that could lead to supermodel fame.

     

    Participants are asked to demonstrate both inner and outer beauty as they master complicated catwalks, intense physical fitness, fashion photo shoots and publicity skills, all under 24/7 surveillance of the AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL cameras.

    Supermodel Tyra Banks welcomes a new group of top model wannabes to Los Angeles, where some girls from the past are given a second chance, another finds herself stripping after a game of truth or dare and all the girls showcase their best runway strut for Tyra, Jay Manuel and J. Alexander. Meanwhile, one of the girls tries to be the center of attention and stirs up trouble with the rest of the group. After a photo booth test shoot, some girls are sent home and the final 14 participants begin their journey to compete for the title of “America’s Next Top Model.”

    Synopsis: The Girls Who Hate Their Makeovers

    The finalists are surprised to learn they will be residing in Tyra Banks’ hometown, Los Angeles and are immediately thrown into their first photo shoot, modeling as aliens. After receiving dramatic makeovers in a Los Angeles salon, the participants pose topless at a second photo shoot, where the constant complaints of two girls about their new looks leaves Tyra fuming mad. Also, J. Alexander arrives to take the girls’ weight and measurements, which leaves one competitor stressed out over her recent weight gain. One of the fourteen models is eliminated.

    Synopsis: The Girl Who Suddenly Collapsed

     

    One of the models is rushed to the emergency after passing out at a critical point, leaving her ability to continue the competition in question. Alexander makes a special guest appearance, and modeling/talent scout Sandi Bass serves as a guest judge. Also, when one of the girls celebrates her victory in a runway walk-off challenge with a shopping spree, bitterness emerges among the losing models, as they must cater to the needs of the winner and her guests. One of the thirteen models is eliminated.

    On Emma’s first birthday, Rachel convinces Monica and Chandler to delay their long-anticipated trip to Vermont to stay for the party. But complications ensue when the infant falls asleep–and a racy, adult birthday cake arrives. Meanwhile, when Ross dashes out to help Rachel, he leaves Joey in charge of keeping everybody locked in the apartment until they return with the right cake.

    As Lorelai frantically prepares for her final examinations in business school, Rory secretly invites townspeople–including Richard and Emily–to Lorelai’s graduation ceremony. Christopher gives Lorelai a special gift, and Sookie bakes a cake. Meanwhile, without telling anyone, Rory travels to New York, where Jess has been living since Luke sent him away. Everyone happily gathers for Lorelai’s proud moment, but Rory is not there! Her bus is delayed by an accident, and she misses the graduation ceremony. Lorelai is upset until she realizes that Rory truly loves Jess. Rory doesn’t believe that she could love anyone but Dean, but she is happy to celebrate Lorelai’s graduation with her a little late.

Meanwhile, Del and Charlie go to Atlantic City at the request of a potential investor, and Richard tags along for the free ride, desperately trying to finish the new John Grisham thriller while resisting everyone’s determination to tell him the surprise ending.

    1) Mom’s on strike at 3:30 p.m.

    Pam Harris (Faith Ford) awakes every morning at 6:00 AM to make breakfast, pack lunches and drive the carpool before going to her 30-hour-a-week job. One day during the carpool on the way to school, she and her kids spot a group of picketing janitors. Pam explains to her kids that strikes aren’t just about wages, they’re also about getting more respect and appreciation.

    When she arrives at work that morning, Pam’s friend Ella gives her a birthday present. To her own surprise and eventual disappointment, Pam completely forgot her own birthday and so did her family. Ella assures Pam they are probably planning a surprise for her that evening. That night, Pam goes home to the monotony of her life: the kids complaining and her husband Teddy (Tim Matheson) is out with his colleagues celebrating his probable promotion. Later that night, when everyone is asleep, Pam sits down to work on her son’s art project, but instead of drawing a picture on a piece of poster board, she writes: MOM ON STRIKE!

    A young boy tells the story of growing up in a fatherless home with his unmarried mother and four spinster aunts in 1930’s Ireland. Each of the five women, different from the other in temperament and capability, is the emotional support system, although at times reluctantly, for each other, with the eldest assuming the role of a ‘somewhat meddling’ overseer. But then into this comes an elderly brother, a priest too senile to perform his clerical functions, who has “come home to die” after a lifetime in Africa; as well, there also arrives the boy’s father, riding up on a motorcycle, only to announce that he’s on his way to Spain to fight against Franco. Nevertheless, life goes on for the five sisters, although undeniably affected by the presence of the two men, they continue to cope as a close-knit unit… until something happens that disrupts the very fabric of that cohesiveness beyond repair.
