  • Toyota, Intel in agreement over Formula 1 sponsorship

    MUMBAI: Toyota has announced that it has come to a basic agreement on a Formula One sponsorship deal with chip manufacturer Intel. The agreement includes substantial technical and marketing collaboration between the two companies.
     
     
    An official release informs that the Intel Itanium 2 processor based solutions will help advance Toyota Motorsports computing infrastructure in terms of technical capability and raw performance. In addition, the sponsorship deal will see Intel’s Itanium 2 processor brand logo appear on the rear wing of the 2004 Panasonic Toyota Formula 1 Racing car, the TF104. The TF104 will be launched at the team’s factory in Cologne, Germany on 17 January.

    In addition Intel’s corporate logo will appear on the side of the TF104 and on its nose, as well as branded on team clothing, driver overalls, pit walls, motor homes and technical trucks.

    Intel’s Enterprise Platforms Group senior VP, GM Mike Fister said, “The decision to associate the Intel Itanium 2 processor family and sponsor Toyota’s F1 team was a natural one. Both Intel and Toyota stand out as leaders of global manufacturing and innovation within our respective industries, and both strive to constantly deliver products that showcase high reliability and quality combined with performance.”

  • Toyota launches Qualis Myst for the MPV market

    MUMBAI: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) announced the launch of a limited edition variant of the leading premium Multi-Purpose Vehicle – the Qualis Myst. This new car is aimed at users who seek exclusivity in everything that they do, including their mode of transport.

    The limited edition of Qualis Myst is available in black colour and is positioned as a trendy vehicle that combines style and performance at an attractive price.

    The Qualis Myst now comes with multi-coloured body stripes, chrome hood mould and silver grill, a convenient aluminium sidestep, front facing seats and lovely fabric upholstery.

    The Qualis Myst is powered by the tried and tested 2L diesel engine. This engine has proved itself in over five million vehicles worldwide, earning the reputation of being a rugged, fuel-efficient performer that is easy and economical to maintain.

    According to TKM managing director A Toyoshima, “The launch of the Qualis Myst is another step forward in offering a complete range of products in the MPV segment.”

    TKM is planning to sell 1,200 units of the Myst within four months of the launch. Currently TKM has an order booking for four weeks for the Qualis.

    “The Qualis Myst is a reinforcement of the Toyota way of listening to the customer,” said TKM deputy managing director KK Swamy.
