    Mumbai: Did you know? A lot of trees are felled to produce the sheer volume of paper that gets utilised for everything from form-filling and documenting contestant profiles to maintaining logs of scores, all in the course of the auditions phase of a typical reality show. This is enough to create a dent in the ecosystem, leading to even more serious global issues such as climate change, flooding, soil erosion, desertification, increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and eventually, global warming. 

    Given this environmental concern, as a responsible broadcaster, Zee TV, by way of an industry-first initiative in the history of reality television, has decided to take a step towards healing our planet by going green, going digital during the audition phase of the upcoming season of its very own singing reality show – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. As per reports from G.A.M.E (Greening Advertising Media & Entertainment), a full-service sustainability consulting organization, going paper-free during the audition phase for the latest season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has resulted in avoiding carbon emissions to the order of 963.88 Kgs CO2e and saving 135625 litres of water that gets utilised while manufacturing these sheets. 

    Be it the announcing of online auditions where aspiring singers are being encouraged to send their audition clips on the ZEE5 app or register on the website in the case of on-ground auditions, the channel has done away with the usage of paper. No forms, no score sheets, no stickers or notices that you typically see at an on-ground audition Zee TV has gone the extra mile in deploying technology, going entirely digital and doing away with paper in every situation.   

    Zee TV business head Aparna Bhosle said, “In these digital times, I believe our endeavour of going paper-free for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa auditions is a step towards being eco-friendly and sustainable. It is the first time that the auditions of a reality show are going paperless and we hope to bring about a positive change through this initiative”.

    Apart from the audition phase going paperless, in the course of the season top performing singers would stand to win a life-changing opportunity to sing an original song which will be released by Zee Music Company. Clearly, Zee TV is going all out to scout the best talent and provide them with opportunities beyond the platform even before the show draws to an end.

    With the auditions process ongoing, make sure you register yourself or the talented singers you have found quickly. Anyone who is 15 years and above and has what it takes to become the next big singing sensation by participating in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2023, needs to register on Zee Tv’s official website and/or send their audition clips on the ZEE5 app.

Discovery and the United Nations in India are teaming up to bring viewers an exciting second season of the culinary show “Roots of My Platter,” featuring renowned celebrity chef Shipra Khanna, winner of MasterChef India Season 2. Building upon the success of its first season, this season focuses on the concept of optimal nutrition and the importance of timing in our meals.

    In collaboration with the United Nations in India, the show highlights the importance of incorporating millet, designated as the superfood of 2023, into our daily meals. Hosted by the charismatic Shruti Seth, the four-part series delves into enlightening conversations about holistic nutrition, emphasizing the significance of establishing a consistent daily cycle of eating.

    Shark Tank India: Entrepreneurs who stole the show in Season one & two

    Mumbai: Sony Entertainment Television recently announced the third season of the innovative and disruptive reality show Shark Tank India and there is excitement in the air as founders are yet again lining up to seek funds for their business ventures. While the last two seasons have been much loved and got India hooked, they have given India some interesting brands to look forward to. We had a meme fest with many of the founders and also Ashneer Grover, one of the sharks who would mince no words at all. As the registrations open and it shows a new way forward to the young founders, let’s go down memory lane and have a look at some of the memorable faces from Shark Tank India’s seasons one and two.

    Sanandan Sudhir

    When Sanandan Sudhir made his first appearance on the finale of Shark Tank India Season one, Ashneer Grover had quipped that he reminded him of popular villainous character Shakaal, who had built his own kingdom where only his rules prevailed. Though the inventor did not get funding from the sharks, he spelled his fiefdom outside the show, when he bagged funding at the same valuation he was ridiculed over – 100 crore. His invention is On2Cook, the fastest cooking device that saves 50 per cent energy and 70 per cent cooking times. It functions on combination cooking technology, with induction/flame in the bottom and microwave through the lid. The device has in fact already created ripples not just in India but even internationally.

    Yushika Jolly

    Yushika Jolly, founder of Paradyes, India’s first semi permanent hair color brand had impressed the sharks in the second season of the show. This creative startup resonated with all the judges as they figured that it is the product for Gen Next. It breaks the myth around harmful impact of hair color and the potential damage. The range of options impressed all the judges. While Peyush Bansal offered a higher amount, she settled the deal with Vineeta Singh and Aman Gupta for Rs 65 lakh for two per cent equity. We are sure to see much more from this brand in the coming time.

    Jugaadu Kamlesh

    Jugaadu Kamlesh, as he is sometimes known, Kamlesh Nanasaheb Ghumare, made a very film-like pitch to the sharks in season one. For farmers, Kamlesh had created a homemade pesticide trolley spray that could be used to spray pesticides on farmland. Peyush Bansal was so taken with the idea that he provided Rs 10 lakh in funding for 40 per cent equity and a Rs 20 lakh no-interest loan. His pitch is hailed as the best pitch of that season.

    Arun Aggarwal

    Janitri, a brand that had invented a device that could remotely monitor foetus and mother is hailed as the best device for expecting moms. Founded by Arun Aggarwal it was featured in season two and impressed all the judges of the shows. The fun began when all the sharks started fighting for him. He asked for Rs one crore for 2.5 per cent equity and seeing the grand idea, the judges were all enthusiastic. He picked up Namita Thapar for her experience in the healthcare sector and knew that his business will be mentored by the right person. 

    Niti Singhal

    Niti Singhal wowed all the judges in season 1 as she paraded in her reversible and convertible dresses and the models with her revealed the dresses under the brand Twee in One. Promoting sustainability and fashion, she showed how these dresses will save money and packing space. However, the sharks were sceptical of the idea and weren’t too keen on investing. Later the public lapped the idea and her sales increased phenomenally. Moreover, Ashneer Grover’s wife was also seen wearing a dress from the brand. 

    Balakrishnan

    Balakrishnan, founder of Flatheads, a range of all day casual shoes, had a great idea but it wasn’t working for him at all. During the pitch in the season two of the episode, the judges advised him to shut the business and find a job. It is often termed as one of the most emotional episodes, and Balakrishnan’s grit and determination impressed many. It was heartwarming to see his inventory getting sold out within days of the episode going LIVE.

    Aditi belongs to a joint family where she stands as the sole female member committed to pursuing sports. Despite actively participating in local tournaments across the state, she has yet to secure an opportunity to represent her state team. This is primarily due to the remarkable talent pool and intense competition prevalent in Rajasthan. However, when Rajasthan Royals, in collaboration with COLORS, launched India’s biggest sports reality show “Cricket Ka Ticket”, Aditi found a path to advancement in her career, with a reward of 5 lacs and the opportunity to appear for trials at several T20 women teams. Despite a rocky start in the competition, the judges decided to believe in her and kept her as a contender. Former and current Royals players and coaches were heavily active in motivating and mentoring Aditi, as well as providing expertise on how to develop her overall game. She was able to recover and leave everyone surprised, and it was a life-changing experience for Aditi, who went on to win the show.     ‘Neerja… Ek Nayi Pehchaan’ captures the journey of Protima (played by Sneha Wagh), who lives in Sonagachi with her daughter Neerja (Aastha Sharma) and resolves to safeguard her daughter from its evils, but fate has a different plan. The maharani of Sonagachi, Didun (played by Kamya Punjabi) has her prying eyes on Neerja as the word of her beauty spreads. Living away from it, the scion of the wealthy Bagchi family, Abeer (played by Rajveer Singh) is nursing a wound of his past. Serendipitously, Neerja and Abeer meet and are instantly drawn to each other, but the societal shame of reaching out to the dwellers of a red-light area is a huge hurdle in their relationship. Will Neerja be able to secure a life of dignity for herself and Protima? Will Abeer and Neerja’s love be potent enough to defy norms?

    Intending to push the frontiers of the digital realm beyond promoting a show, COLORS devised a campaign to create awareness about the sensitive issues surrounding the residents of the red-light area. A vox pop video will seek informal comments from people on their understanding of the red-light area which will be amplified on COLORS’ social media platforms. Additionally, influencers such as Shweta Tiwari, Juhi Parmar, Dalljiet Kaur Patel and Chahat Khanna will be seen sharing their experience as single moms and raising a kid amid societal judgment. The highlight of this conversation will be that kids belonging to red-light areas have the right to lead a life of dignity.

    Mumbai: Quintessentially, monsoons set the stage for love to flourish, but Sony Entertainment Television’s “Barsatein-Mausam Pyaar Ka” is all set to bring viewers a stormy romance drama that explores the clash of two headstrong individuals – Reyansh and Aradhna. Set in the milieu of a newsroom, this intriguing narrative sees the passionate duo lock horns as they find themselves entwined in a complex web of emotions. Kushal Tandon returns to television as Reyansh Lamba, a heartbreaker with an enigmatic personality, while Shivangi Joshi portrays Aradhna Sahni, a determined and ambitious young woman with a passion for journalism. Despite knowing better, Aradhna is attracted to the suave and irresistibly charming Reyansh Lamba and thus begins their turbulent love story. Produced by ‘Studio LSD Productions’ and starring the dynamic duo of Arjun Bijlani as Shiv and Nikki Sharma as Shakti, ‘Pyaar Ka Pehla Adhyaya ShivShakti’ is all set to ignite everyone’s souls with its powerful narrative. Based in the spiritual capital of India – Varanasi, the show explores whether Shakti will be able to become the support system that can heal a broken Shiv through the power of love. The promos of the show have already generated a lot of buzz, leaving viewers eagerly waiting for the show which premieres on 3 July and will air every day from Monday to Sunday, at 7.30 pm on Zee TV.

    In the run-up to its launch, the channel introduced the key characters of the show in special episodes of Pyaar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan called ‘Rishton Ka Mahasangam’.
