  • COLORS’ new show ‘Mishri’ celebrates the sweetness of relationships and unconventional bonds

COLORS’ new show ‘Mishri’ celebrates the sweetness of relationships and unconventional bonds

Mumbai: ‘Rishte wakt se nahi dil se bante hain.’ Those were the old good days when relationships held profound meaning and joy was found beyond blood ties. In this age of fleeting connections, COLORS gears up to launch ‘Mishri’, a story that brings back ‘rishton ki mithaas’.  With circumstances playing the villain, the lives of Mishri, Vaani, and Raghav intertwine as they become each other’s chosen family and emotional oasis. Armed with their dreams, they face life’s hurdles, knowing that they’ve won the greatest jackpot – each other. In a world often marred by self-interest, their selfless regard for one another proves beyond doubt that rishte halaton se bade hote hain.

Residing in Gangapur near Mathura, the titular Mishri is a living talisman, bringing luck to every occasion she attends. However, her own life is replete with challenges as she fights against her ‘kismet ki lakeerein’. Forced to wed her middle-aged uncle by her scheming aunt, Mishri is unexpectedly rescued by Raghav, who reluctantly marries her instead, but his heart belongs to Vaani. Bound by gratitude and yearning for a family she can call her own, Mishri carries the secret of her marriage to Raghav and she embraces Vaani not as a rival, but as the sister fate had denied her. Raghav grapples with the herculean task of honouring his commitment to both women, while Vaani’s simple wish for marital bliss hangs in the balance as Mishri becomes her best friend. This unconventional trio of Mishri, Raghav, and Vaani find strength in togetherness and become each other’s sanctuary. United by the sweetness of their unbreakable bond, will Mishri, Raghav, and Vaani overcome the bitterness of their circumstances together? Starring Shruti Bhist as Mishri, Namish Taneja as Raghav, and Megha Chakraborty as Vaani, and produced by Square Productions, ‘Mishri’ premieres on 3 July and thereafter will air every day at 8:30 pm only on COLORS.

Talking about essaying the role of Mishri, Shruti Bhist says, “Mishri is the ultimate celebration of sweet relationships. She’s a girl who spreads sunshine wherever she goes, but her own life is clouded by darkness and struggle. Playing this character is like walking on a tightrope of raw emotions. Mishri’s journey is a reminder that even in our darkest hours, we can be someone’s light, someone’s hope. Through her story, ‘Mishri’ will emphasize on ‘rishton ki mithaas’ – the sweet bonds that make life worth living, and the bittersweet sacrifices we make for them. Experience the full spectrum of emotions as Mishri navigates the complexities of love, duty, and finding her own happiness amidst the chaos. This show is going to be a delicious treat for all the viewers out there!”

Prepared to essay Raghav, Namish Taneja said, “Unlike the tale of star-crossed lovers or a damsel in distress, Mishri is about human integrity and the sweetness of relationships. I will be seen playing Raghav, a man caught in the crossfire of duty and love. This character made me think about how far one can go to keep their word. He respects Mishri, yet his heart belongs to Vaani, and that love is the compass guiding his every decision. Raghav’s struggle isn’t about choosing between two women, it’s about honouring the promises he’s made to both. To Mishri, he owes protection and respect, to Vaani, his heart and future.”

Portraying the role of Vaani, Megha Chakraborty said, “Vaani is the embodiment of a modern, self-assured woman who doesn’t settle for less than she deserves. What makes Vaani truly special is that she uplifts and empowers Mishri. She represents the beautiful solidarity among women, showing how we can support each other even in complex situations. Through Vani’s character, the show explores the idea that sometimes the most beautiful families are the ones we create ourselves, not the ones we’re born into. Her unapologetic pursuit of happiness is going to be a game-changer for relationship goals on Indian television!”

Get ready to savour a one-of-a-kind relationship drama in ‘Mishri’ premiering on July 3 and thereafter airing every day at 8:30 pm only on COLORS!

Full House Media Pvt Ltd producer Sonali Jaffar, said, “It is not every day that you see a child in search of a companion for his mother, so in that sense, our concept is truly differentiated. Main Hoon Saath Tere is not only a family drama, but also an innocent take on love, life and relationships from the lens of a single mother Janvi and her child, Kian who truly cares about his mother and her happiness. It’s the child that will decide the fate of this love story. It is a heartwarming tale that touches upon tender emotions and will hopefully touch a chord with our viewers.”

Karan Vohra said, “With a character like Aryaman, my belief that in a domain that is known to be women-centric, there can still be interesting roles for men to play.    I believe that my character as well as this touching storyline will surely connect with the audience. I am really excited to portray a father figure to Kian on-screen, as I believe through this, I am preparing myself to be a better father to my twin boys when they are of his age. These delicate relationships are the core pillars of our story and will hopefully find their way into the hearts of our audience.”

Ulka Gupta said, “I am very excited about this new journey, but I am a bit nervous too. When I was offered this character, I knew it was meant for me as we are quite similar in terms of loving our families, following our passions, and juggling different roles as a woman. It is interesting that I am getting to play a mother so early on in my career. My mother has been my source of inspiration while playing Janvi. It is a very big responsibility to play a single mother on Indian television and I hope Janvi’s simplicity, warmth and never-say-die attitude in the face of adversity will inspire viewers.”

Stay tuned to Main Hoon Saath Tere, starting 29th April, every day at 7.30 PM, only on Zee TV!

  • Nazara brings a powerful saga of tradition, resilience, and empowerment in ‘Dahej Dasi’

Nazara brings a powerful saga of tradition, resilience, and empowerment in ‘Dahej Dasi’

Mumbai: Nazara, a general entertainment channel from the house of IN10 Media Network, known for its commitment to diverse and impactful storytelling, is proud to present its latest show, Dahej Dasi. Set against the enchanting backdrop of the fictitious village Madhopur in Rajasthan, the show promises to immerse audiences in a heart-wrenching yet inspiring narrative of a young woman’s struggle against the oppressive tradition of being a dahej dasi.

Dahje Dasi delves into a tradition wherein a maid accompanies a Thakur family’s daughter as part of the dowry. This maid, known as dahej dasi, is denied the right to marry or form relationships, dedicating her entire life to serving the Thakur Family.

The narrative follows the journey of Chunari, portrayed by the talented Jahnavi Soni, a 19-year-old innocent girl with dreams of marriage and a happy family. However, she becomes entangled in the chains of deceit, finding herself on the path to becoming a dahej dasi. The formidable maha sarpanch of 50 villages, Vindhya Devi Gauravat, played by Sayantani Ghosh, is determined to ensure Chunari embraces this tradition. As Chunari fights against the oppressive practice, the show unfolds into a compelling drama of tradition versus rebellion, love versus oppression.

Jahnavi Soni, sharing her thoughts on portraying Chunari, said, “The reason why I opted for this character was because of its simplicity. Although it seems to be a simple character, it has many layers of emotions that need to be delivered right, and that’s the most challenging part of being Chunari.”

Sayantani Ghosh, who plays the negative lead Vindhya Devi, expressed, “When Vindhya Devi was offered to me, I agreed without any hesitation. Though the character is negative, it has an unsaid layering of emotion that makes it unique. The most challenging part was the Rajasthani dialect, and since I have not done any Rajasthan-based show before, I was inclined to do this even more.”

Rajat Verma, essaying the role of Vindhya’s son Jay Gauravat, shared, “The story, set in Rajasthan, explores the dahej dasi tradition, where a servant’s life is tied to their owner. My character, a modern kuwar, challenges this cultural norm. One key reason for my enthusiasm is the involvement of the makers Ravindra Gautam and Raghuvir Shekhawat. It’s also a pleasure to work alongside the talented Sayantani Ghosh, who plays the negative lead.”

The channel believes that what sets Dahej Dasi apart is its unique blend of entertainment and a compelling social message. The show carries a positive theme, emphasizing the importance of resilience and courage in the face of adversity.

Nazara invites viewers to embark on this emotional and empowering journey with Dahej Dasi, airing every Monday to Friday at 9:00 pm starting 12 Feb 2024 on the channel.
