    Bohemain Rhapsody Wins ‘Best Motion Picture’ Ahead of A Star is Born: In the biggest shocker of the night was Bohemian Rhapsody Won Best Motion Picture – Drama over people favourite  ‘A Star Is Born’. The Freddie Mercury biopic was a box office hit, but the film was accused of playing very loose with the facts re: Mercury’s story and mixed reviews (it stands at 48% with Top Critics on Rotten Tomatoes). And yet, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association applauded it.

    Rami Malek Wins Best Actor In A Motion Picture (Drama) For Bohemian Rhapsody: Fan Favourite, Rami Malek won the Golden Globe award for his performance as Freddie Mercury in Queen Biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Considered the best act of his career, He won the award over fellow nominees Bradley Cooper, Willem Defoe, Lucas Hedges, and John David. Bohemain Rhapsody is the highest-grossing music biopic of all time

    Alfonso Cuaron Wins Best Director for ‘Roma’: Alfonso Curaon created history by winning best director for Roma, a black-and-white Spanish-language film, one of the most critically lauded movies of awards season, was inspired by Cuaron's life growing up in Mexico City.This win marks Cuarón's third Golden Globe victory and is also the 4th time a Mexican Director has been victorious in the last six years. 

    Glenn Close Beat Lady Gaga To Win The Best Actress In A Motion Picture: In an absolute shocker, leaving fans worldwide shocked and disappointed, Glenn Close won the award for the best actress in a motion picture for ‘The Wife’. Lady Gaga’s debut ‘A Star is born’ was praised by audiences around the globe and she was expected to clinch the award.

    ‘Green Book’ Wins Bags 3 Awards: Defying all odds, Green Book bagged 3 Awards at the 76th Edition of the Golden Globe Awards. Green Book won the award for Best Musical/Comedy Picture and Best Screenplay of a motion picture. Mahershala Ali won his first Golden Globe Award with Greenbook for the best supporting actor.

    MUMBAI: ‪Indiantelevision.com has announced a partnership with multinational company DNS Overseas (first ones to launch XP-Pen in India) for the 15th edition of its Indian‬ Telly, Technical, Trade and Programming (TT&P) Awards. Under this, the company has come on board as Support Partner for The Indian Telly TT&P Awards. The awards ceremony is to be held ‪on 28 October‬ at Mumbai’s Sahara Star hotel.

    The announcement of the tie-up between the two brands is significant on three counts. First, the hugely successful Indian Telly Awards are back after a two-year period. Second, in its new avatar, the Indian Telly Awards will be conducted in two legs – technical and popular. Third, this is the first collaboration of XP-Pen with ‪Indiantelevision.com‬'s The Indian Telly TT&P Awards.

    XP-Pen started its journey in 2005 in Japan and since then has been deeply involved in the research, design and development of graphic tablets.     Mumbai, 28th September 2018: Siddharth Roy Kapur has been re-elected as the President of the Producers Guild of India. He has previously served as the President since January 2017. It was a unanimous decision taken at the first meeting of newly appointed Guild Council on 28th September 2018.
    In addition, Sunjoy Waddhwa the eminent television producer has also been elected as the Vice President of the Producers Guild of India. At the same time Priti Shahani and Fazila Allana have been nominated to the Guild Council of Management along with Milan Luthria and Akshaye Widhani who have been included in the Guild Council as Special Invitees.

    Vijay Singh, Manish Goswami and Apoorva Mehta continues to be part of the Guild Management team as Vice Presidents in addition to Ashim Samanta who will also continue as the Treasurer.
    As the President, Siddharth Roy Kapur has been the leading voice of the industry over the past two years. The Guild has recently signed key strategic alliances such as the one with United Kingdom’s Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television and has engaged with key industry and Government stakeholders successfully.

    Mumbai, 21 March, 2018: News18 REEL Movie Awards, a News18.com marquee property with Reliance Digital as the presenting sponsor, celebrated new age cinema like never before in presence of renowned artists, film-makers and producers at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai, yesterday. Personalities such as Rajkummar Rao, Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sonali Kulkarni and Richa Chadda among others graced the event with their presence. Jury members Nikhil Advani, Sudhir Mishra and Sujoy Ghosh looked on while the new-age cinema artists received their well-deserved awards.

    The awards opened with Prasoon Joshi, ad-man and CBFC Chairman being welcomed on the dais for a riveting conversation reflecting upon his challenges in his current role. The evening then moved towards recognizing excellence in new age cinema and honouring the personalities who gave their best in 2017. Amit V Masurkar took home the first News18 REEL Movie Awards for Best Director for Newton, Irrfan Khan was recognised for his work in the movie Hindi Medium under the Best Actor (Male) category, while a surprised Ratna Pathak Shah accepted the Best Actor (Female) award for her role in Lipstick Under My Burkha.

    On accepting the award, Ratna shared, “I am surprised that a 60-year old artist was picked for the award since it was quite the chance that the jury took and I am happy that they did.” The actor dedicated her award to the team of Lipstick Under My Burkha.

    The jury presented an award for the Breakthrough Actor to none-other-than Rajkummar Rao. The elated star said, “2017 was a great year for cinema and I hope it continues. I am so happy that the dream I had seen as a young boy sitting in Gurgaon has come true. I want to thank the audience for appreciating such cinema and we will continue to keep bringing excellent content for them.”  

    Mukti Bhawan won the first News18 REEL Movie Awards for Best Film and director Shubhashish Bhutiani, along with his team accepted the awards and shared, “I stayed in a room with my father in preparation for the film, pretty much taking a journey like the protagonist in a film, in order to make this movie happen. Winning the award is truly an honour and a privilege.”

    Meher Vij was awarded the Best Supporting Actor (Female) for the movie Secret Superstar, while Pankaj Tripathi won the award for Newton in the Best Supporting Actor (Male) category.

    The awards concluded with a riveting panel discussion on digital content creation, moderated by Network18 Digital CEO Manish Maheshwari, with Sujoy Ghosh, Saurabh Shukla, Sudhir Mishra, Richa Chadha and Dhawal Gusain taking the dais as panelists. The event was live-streamed on Jio TV.

    MUMBAI: The highly coveted ABBY Awards that recognises and rewards creative excellence is poised to set new benchmarks on scale and innovation with the upcoming 2018 edition. The apex industry award has for the first time announced the formation of a master jury. 

    It boasts of 15 illustrious, award winning creative giants who have consented to be the filter for the creative standards of the creative ABBYs.

    The master jury is entrusted with the task of screening all the entries received, across all the categories and verticals, to identify those worthy of being short listed. It will then deliberate on which of the short lists is worthy of winning an ABBY. This jury will help ensure that the ABBYs 2018 will be the most sought-after creative awards in the industry. 

    ABBY 2018 chair of the awards governing council Ajay Kakar says, “We want the ABBYs to be the gold standard, recognising creative excellence for brands. It is a fact that an award is as good or reputed as the jury that judges it. So recognising this, we created a master jury for 2018. Adjudged by such a versatile and visionary jury means that only the most creative campaigns will emerge victorious, making the winning of an ABBY a career defining moment.”

    The 2018 edition will also see the number of categories and sub categories being rationalised, to ensure relevance and effectiveness. Ajay Kakar elaborated, “We recognise that digital is not a medium, but a technology that supports communication. Keeping this and such realities at the core, as against the past years, the categories and verticals have been brought down from 15 categories and eight verticals i.e. 120, to eight categories and eight verticals i.e. 64. 

    Another highlight will be the reinstatement of the Agency of the Year award. This year will see the announcement of the creative agency of the year, design specialist agency of the year, digital specialist agency of the year, direct specialist agency of the year, PR specialist agency of the year, branded content and entertainment specialist agency of the year and media agency of the year.

    Rajkummar wins award for Trapped, ‘Shab’ Australian premiere on 18 Aug

    NEW DELHI: Actor Rajkummar Rao won WESTPAC Special Mention Best Actor Jury award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for the survival drama Trapped released this year.

    Rajkummar won huge critical acclaim for the thriller helmed by award-winning filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane. The movie was recently nominated at the Melbourne Film Festival.

    At its world premiere at the Mumbai Film Festival earlier, the film had received a standing ovation. After a series of phenomenal successes, this nomination is another feather in his cap.

    Rajkummar’s highly anticipated movie Newton will also be premiered at this coveted film festival.

    Rao said, “Trapped was a very challenging film for me and I guess this recognition is the result of all the hard work put in by Vikram sir, me and the whole team. I wish to continue to be on this journey of exciting scripts and films”.

    Meanwhile, the Raveena Tandon starrer ‘Shab’ by Onir will have its Australian premiere on 18 August at the Indian Film Festival in Sydney. This is a three-day festival. The film also stars Ashish Bisht, Arpita Pal, Areesz Ganddi and Simon Frenay.
