    BARC Ratings: Sony continues its success with ‘PK’

    MUMBAI: In the week 26 of Broadcast Audience Research Council India (BARC), general entertainment channel (GEC) category did not see much fluctuations in spots  with Star Plus yet again comfortably  maintaining its top position with 389,322 (000s sum) followed by Colors with 357,872 (000s sum).

     

    Zee TV booked the third spot on the ratings chart with 284,778 (000s sum) while Life OK made its way to the fourth spot with 232,726 (000s sum).

     

    Sony Entertainment Television (SET) secured fifth position with 204,392 (000s).

     

    Amongst the top programs in GEC space, Star Plus’s Saath Nibhana Saathiya grabbed the first position with 6,582 (000s sum).

     

    Next up, Colors’ Meri Ashiqui Tumse Hi generated 6,059 (000s sum) followed by Rajkumar Hirani’s PK on SET with 5,596 (000s sum).

     

    Colors’ Sasuraal Simar Ka observed the fourth spot with 5,272 (000s sum). Lastly, Zee TV’s Kum Kum Bhagya managed to lock its place at the fifth spot with 5,153 (000s sum).

     

    In the English news space, Times Now continued its dominance with 502 (000s sum) followed by CNN IBN with 178 (000s sum) and India Today Television also with 178 (000s sum) respectively.

     
    Meanwhile, CNBC TV 18 continued to lead the English business genre with 213 (000s sum) followed by ET Now with 196 (000s sum). Bloomberg TV locked the third spot with 57 (000s sum).

     
    Aaj Tak maintained its leadership position in the Hindi News genre as it garnered 28,409 (000s sum). India TV followed at number two with 27,668 (000s sum) while ABP news grabbed the third berth with 26,825 (000s sum).

    MUMBAI: In the week 27 of TAM TV ratings, despite a drop in the viewership, Star Plus maintained its leadership position. It registered 232 GRPs, down from 248 GRPs.

     

    Colors reported a marginal rise in the viewership and noted 206 GRPs, up from 205 GRPs.

     

    It can be recalled that Sony Entertainment Television (SET) last week had jumped to the third spot dislodging Zee TV to number four. Courtesy, the world television premiere of Rajkumar Hirani directed movie PK. But, this week, Zee TV has made its comeback with a significant rise. The channel garnered 174 GRPs, up from 161 GRPs followed by Sab which too saw a growth in the ratings. It noted 140 GRPs, up from 135 GRPs.

     

    SET’s run of celebration sustained only for a week as the channel is back to its fifth position at the ratings chart. The channel observed a significant drop from 166 GRPs to 140 GRPs this week.

     

    Life OK stood at the bottom of the chart with 130 GRPs, up from 125 GRPs.

     

    On the programming front, Star Plus’s programmes saw a drop in its consistency. The top position, this week was occupied by Colors’ Meri Ashiqui Tum Se Hi with 4.24 TVR followed by the repeat of Rajkumar Hirani’s PK on SET with 4.16 TVR.

     

    Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein garnered the third spot with 3.70 TVR followed by Zee TV’s KumKum Bhagya with 3.69 TVR.

     

    Sab’s comedy flick Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was placed at the fifth position with 3.49 TVR.

     

    Star Plus’ Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya registered sixth and seventh position with 3.42 TVR and 3.39 TVR respectively.

     

    Zee TV’s dance reality show – Dance India Dance was spotted at number eighth with 2.90 TVR followed by Colors’ Chakravartin Ashok Samrat with 2.87 TVR.

     

    Last but not the least, Diya Aur Baati Hum from Star Plus occupied the tenth position with 2.69 TVR.

    TAM TV Ratings: Sun TV tops regional genre

    MUMBAI: The regional genre observed maximum traction coming from the Tamil general entertainment channel (GEC) space in the week 27 of TAM TV ratings. The genre witnessed a rise of 2 per cent in viewership levels in this week.

     

    Registering a 4.5 per cent rise in the viewership level from the previous week, Sun TV was the top contributor of the genre as it registered 1,277 GRPs, up from 1,221 GRPs. Vijay TV spotted the second position with 366 GRPs, up from 346 GRPs followed by Z Tamil which noted 128 GRPs, up from 124 GRPs.

     

    Overall Malayalam GEC genre witnessed a rise of 7 per cent in viewership levels in this week. Asianet and Mazhavil Manorama were the major contributors with 4 per cent and 19 per cent rise respectively. Asianet at number one reported 928 GRPs, up from 890 GRPs followed by Mazhavil Manorama which registered 266 GRPs; up from 224 GRPs. Surya TV garnered the third spot with 205 GRPs, up from 196 GRPs.

     

    In the Telugu space, Maa TV dropped to the second spot from its leading position with a drop of 8 per cent in viewership, this week. Gemini with 521 GRPs took the leading position with a rise of 3 per cent in viewership levels.  Maa TV recorded 508 GRPs, down from 555 GRPs. Z Telugu stood at number three with 493 GRPs, up from 460 GRPs.

     

    Lastly, the Kannada GEC category has maintained its viewership threshold level with a minimal drop this week. Udaya TV garnered 5 per cent rise in viewership this week when compared to last week and registered 421 GRPs, up from 402 GRPs. Colors Kannada spotted the second position with 399 GRPs, down from 404 GRPs. Suvarna TV maintained its third slot with 248 GRPs, down from 251 GRPs.

    MUMBAI: The week 27 of opportunity to see (OTS) collated by Chrome Data Analytics & Media, witnessed no gainers.

     

    On the losers’ front, English movie genre in the eight metros witnessed 3.8 per cent drop. Movies Now topped the category with 59.8 per cent OTS. It was followed by business news genre with 2.7 per cent fall in the eight metros. CNBC Awaaz garnered the top spot with 77.4 per OTS.

     

    The kids channel genre too observed a 2.5 per cent drop in All India with Cartoon Network at number one with 78.7 per cent OTS. Infotainment genre occupied the fourth position across All India. Discovery led the top slot with 82.3 per OTS.

    India vs Bangladesh series helps Star Sports to take top slot: BARC ratings

    MUMBAI: Television audience measurement body Broadcast Audience Research Council India (BARC) ratings for week 25 week proves that cricket is the undisputed champion when it comes to sports content consumption.

     

    In recent times Ten Sports, courtesy to WWE and its special programs have been consistently leading the list of top viewed sports channel. But the India VS Bangladesh series helped Star Sports to dethrone Ten Sports and grab the pole position.

     

    Star Sports 1 which relays the English feed garnered viewership of 42,364 (000s sum), the Hindi telecast of the series helped Star Sports 3 garner 38,679 (000s sum) to bag the second position.

     

    Ten Sports declined to third berth with 37,483 (000s sum).

     

    In the general entertainment category (GEC) category, Star Plus with 406,084 (000s sum) remained comfortably at the top spot followed by Colors with 340,709 (000s sum). Zee TV with 254,699 (000s sum) booked the third berth while Life OK with 245,804 (000s sum) was slotted at number four. PK movie helped Sony Entertainment Television (SET) to grab a berth in top five, the channel registered 236,328 (000s sum) to secure the fifth slot.

     

    Coming to the top programs, Amir Khan starrer PK emerged as the top viewed program in the GEC space with 103,33 (000s sum), followed by Star Plus’ Saath Nibhana Saathiya with 6,803 (000s sum).

     

    Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai from the same broadcaster grabbed the third slot with 5,272 (000s sum). On the other hand Colors’ Sasural Simar Ka and Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat secured fourth and fifth slot with 4,990 (000s sum) and 4,641 (000s sum) respectively.

     

    In the English news space Times Now with 445 (000s sum) lead the tally followed by India Today Television with 315 and NDTV 24/7 with 185 (000s sum).

     

    Meanwhile CNBC TV 18 continued to lead the English business genre with 165 (000s sum) followed by ET Now with 130 (000s sum), NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime with 59 (000s sum).

     

    On the other hand Hindi News genre observed dominance of Aaj Tak as the channel garnered 31,566 (000s sum) to book the top slot. India TV followed at second slot with 26,042 (000s sum) while ABP news grabbed the third berth 25,474 (000s sum).

    Sony books third spot with ‘PK’ premiere: TAM TV Ratings

    MUMBAI: Blockbuster PK continues be the golden goose. The Rajkumar Hirani directed movie became the most watched programme of week 26 as per Tam TV ratings analysis. This Aamir Khan starrer which was premiered on 21 June 2015 on Sony Entertainment Television (SET) garnered 7.63 TVR, taking the channel straight to the third spot for this week.

     

    Sony registered 166 GRPs in week 26, up from the 117 GRPs it garnered in week 25.

     

    Star Plus still remains undisputed on the top of the table despite a slight decline in GRPs. In week 26 the channel registered a viewership of 248 GRPs, a drop from 252 GRPs it registered in the previous week.

     

    Colors, at number two, also observed a decline in viewership. It descended from 213 GRPs to 205 GRPs. Fourth placed Zee TV was the only other gainer amongst the top general entertainment channels (GECs) genre. The channel’s viewership grew from 154 GRPs to 161 GRPs.

     

    In the top programme category PK had no competition as it scored 7.63 TVR. This was followed by Yeh Hai Mohabattein on Star Plus which bagged 4.24 TVR. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Saathiya Saath Nibhana from the same channel came third and fourth with 4.04 TVR and 3.76 TVR respectively. Zee TVs  Kumkum Bhagya came fifth with 3.45 TVR.

     

    Sab’s Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chasma garnered 3.45 TVR and was placed at the sixth spot. Colors dominated the bottom part of the top 10 chart with Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Sasural Simar Ka and Udaan being placed at seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth spot respectively.

    Maa TV maintains its dominance in Telugu market: TAM TV Ratings

    MUMBAI: The week 25 of TAM TV ratings in the regional general entertainment space saw a further growth in the share of Telugu GECs: from 40 per cent in week 24 to 41 per cent, this week.

     

    Maa TV has maintained its dominance in the genre with 616 GRPs, up from 548 GRPs. Gemini, stands at number two with 504 GRPs, up from 492 GRPs.

     

    ETV has surpassed Z Telugu in week 25. It has seen a rise from 398 GRPs to 464 GRPs.  Z Telugu observed a drop in the viewership and noted 458 GRPs, down from 469 GRPs.

     

    In the Kannada GEC space, Udaya TV topped the chart with 449 GRPs, down from 488 GRPs.  Colors Kannada stood second with 401 GRPs, down from 411 GRPs.

     

    However, Suvarna and Z Kannada witnessed a rise with 260 GRPs, up from 227 GRPs and 238 GRPs, up from 216 GRPs respectively. 

     

    The analysis was conducted by S-Group, an analytical arm of TAM Media Research.

    MUMBAI: In the week 26 of opportunity to see (OTS) collated by Chrome Data Analytics & Media, English news genre in the eight metros clocked 3 per cent growth with Times Now holding the numero uno position with 76.2 per cent OTS.

     

    English movies genre in the eight metros observed 2.5 per cent growth. Movies Now topped the chart with 61.0 per cent OTS. Business news in the eight metros garnered 0.7 per cent growth followed by religious genre in the Hindi Speaking markets (HSM) with 0.5 per cent growth. CNBC Awaaz with 80.1 per cent OTS and Aastha with 94.6 per cent OTS topped the respective categories.

     

    On the other hand, Infotainment genre across all India observed a fall of 0.7 per cent with Discovery ruling the roost with 82.1 per cent OTS. Hindi news genre in HSM markets noted 0.5 per cent drop with ABP News leading the chart with 94.3 per cent OTS.

     

    Music genre too witnessed 0.2 per cent fall followed by Hindi movies with 0.1 per drop in the HSM markets. MTV secured the first position with 90.4 per cent OTS, while Max stood at number one with 94.6 per cent OTS.

    MUMBAI: The pecking order of the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) remained the same in the week 24 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings.

     

    Star Plus continued to rule all the way with 383533 (000’s) sum followed by Colors with 342535 (000’s) sum. Zee TV stayed steady at number three with 242265 (000’s) sum while Life OK took the fourth position with 234784 (000’s) sum. Last but not the least, Sab clocked 187356 (000’s) sum.

     

    Amongst the top three programmes, Star Plus’s Saath Nibhaana Saathiya turned out to be a clear winner with 6213 (000’s) sum. Colors’ two shows topped the list and occupied number two and three spot respectively. Thus, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat registered 5044 (000’s) sum and Sasural Simar Ka noted 4610 (000’s) sum respectively.

     

    Sports category too did not witness any new winners this week. Though Ten Sports continued to hold the number one spot with 58221 (000’s sum), Star Sports 3 and Star Sports 1 were perched at the second and third spot with 29996 (000’s sum) and 28189 (000’s sum) respectively.

     

    Talking about the top three programmes in the sports category, while Ten Sports WWE Specials 2015 – Money in the Bank topped the chart with 1254 (000’s sum), Bangladesh vs India 2015 ODI’s Series Live – 1st ODI on Star Sports 3 garnered 1206 (000’s sum). In Star Sports 1 too, Bangladesh vs India 2015 ODI’s Series Live – 1st ODI   reported 1046 (000’s sum).

     

    In the Hindi news broadcasting space, Aaj Tak continued its stranglehold with 31491 (000’s sum). India TV claimed the second spot with 27603 (000’s sum) followed by ABP News at number three with 25186 (000’s sum).

    MUMBAI: In the week 25 of TAM TV ratings, the ranking order of the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) remained unchanged. The only channels to gain were Star Plus and Colors with the former registering a significant rise in viewership.

     

    Star Plus retained its leadership position among the Hindi GECs and scored 252 GRPs, up from 241 GRPs in individual data in the previous week. Colors at number two recorded 213 GRPs, up from 210 GRPs in individual data. Moreover, Life OK retained its viewership data with 141 GRPs.

     

    On the losers front, Zee TV stayed steady at number three with 154 GRPs, down from 167 GRPs. Sab dipped from 144 GRPs to 141 GRPs in the week 25. Sony Entertainment Television (SET) too witnessed a marginal drop in the ratings and clocked 117 GRPs, down from 119 GRPs. &TV managed to remain stable with 68 GRPs in individual data.

     

    Talking about the top 10 shows, Star Plus’s Ye Hai Mohabbatein, Saathiya Saath Nibhana and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai are the three most watched shows in the genre that rated 3.82 TVR, 3.81 TVR and 3.72 TVR respectively.

     

    Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya stood at number four with 3.57 TVR followed by Star Plus’s awards property – Star Parivaar Awards on 14 June which fetched 3.57 TVR. Sab’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma occupied the sixth spot with 3.43 TVR.

     

    However, Colors had four of its shows in the list. Indias Got Talent-Ab Hunar Dega Jawaab  at number eight registered with 3.2 TVR followed by Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi which closed the week with 3.03 TVR.  Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat at number nine clocked 2.9 TVR while Udaan at number ten scored 2.87 TVR.
