    BARC week 11: Entire news genre sees a decline in the ratings

    MUMBAI: Times Now continued to be the undisputed leader in the English News space while CNBC TV 18 dominated the English business news genre. In the Hindi news genre Aaj Tak continued to lead securing the number one position. According to week 11 Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, the entire news genre saw a decline in the ratings.  

    Meanwhile, CNBC Awaaz stood at the first spot in Hindi business news space.

    News 9 entered the English news space whereas News Nation made a comeback in the Hindi news genre.

    English news

    Times Now maintained its first position with 290 (‘000s) followed by India Today Television with 251 (‘000s). NDTV 24×7 took the third birth with 122 (‘000s). News 9 made a comeback this week grabbing the fourth position with 116 (‘000s) whereas CNN-IBN bagged the fifth position with 111 (‘000s).

    English business news

    CNBC TV 18 secured its number one position with 268 (‘000s) followed by ET Now securing the second slot with 238 (‘000s). NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime with 58 (‘000s) and Bloomberg TV with 17 (‘000s) took the third and fourth position respectively.

    Hindi News

    Aaj Tak stood at the first spot with 79605 (‘000s), while India TV took the second position with 72602 (‘000s).  India News jumped to the third position with 58344 (‘000s) followed by ABP News securing the fourth position with 48198 (‘000s). News Nation entered the top 5 list taking the fifth position with 45567 (‘000s).

    Hindi business news

    CNBC Awaaz saw a decrease in the ratings grabbing the first spot with 1050 (‘000s), while Zee Business stood at the second spot with 681 (‘000s).

    MUMBAI: Continuing its lead across genres in week 11 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India data, Sun TV bagged 966875 (000s sums) in terms of viewership ratings, followed by Star Plus in second position with 771273(‘000s) and Colors with 745190 (‘000s) stood at number three.

    Zee TV maintained its fourth slot with 695461 (‘000s) whereas as its free to air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol dropped two spots to number seven with 499677 (‘000s). Sony Pal climbed a place to number five position with 522561 (‘000s) while Life Ok stood at number six with 504087 (‘000s).

    Last but not the least were STAR Utsav, Zee Cinema and ETV Telugu which stood at eighth, ninth and tenth positions across genres with 494771 (‘000s), 475752 (‘000s) and 454735 (‘000s) respectively.

    MUMBAI: Viacom 18’s Nick held firm to the top position in week 11 as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India’s all India (U+R) data in NCCS All 4-14 Individuals category. Two of Doraemon shows climbed to the top two positions in the top five program list.

    Nick bagged 81322 (000s sums) ratings, which is a considerable jump from the previous week’s 77946(000s sums). Nick was followed by Turner International’s Pogo TV with 78603 (000s sums). Disney Channel came third in the list with a viewership rating of 64638 (000s sums) ratings.

    Turner’s Cartoon Network maintained its fourth spot with a viewership rating of 56542 (000s sums), while Hungama continued to be the fifth in the list of most watched channels in the genre with a rating of 54574 (000s sums).

    Program wise, it was Disney Channel’s Doraemon Movie: Galaxy Super Express [1996 – Animated] that took up the lead spot with a viewership rating of 803(000s sums), followed by the same channel’s Doraemon The Movie : Toofani Adventure [2003 – Animated] with 799 (000s sums). The usual genre lead, Motu Patlu, more specifically Motu Patlu Mission Moon (2013) took the third spot in the list with 779(000s sums) while Pogo TV’s Chhota Bheem: Dholakpur Ka Bodyguard was fourth in the list with 721(000s sums) ratings.

    Last among the top five most watched shows in week 11 was Motu Patlu in Wonderland [2013 – Animated] with 671(000s sums). Overall the week saw improvement in terms of viewership in the genre.

    The ‘happy place’ Comedy Central continued to dominate the English GEC space. Movies Now dominated the English movie genre. While Zee Studio climbed to third place. According to week 11 Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, the English GEC space observed a decline in the ratings.

    Meanwhile, the English movies space saw a mixed bag of ratings in this week’s data.

    English GEC

    Comedy Central witnessed a downfall in ratings but maintained its first position with 217 (‘000s) as compared to 302 (‘000s) in week 10. Star World toppled AXN securing the second position with 157 (‘000s) followed by AXN with 155 (‘000s). Zee Cafe with 133 (‘000s) and Colors Infinity SD with 59 (‘000s) secured the fourth and fifth position respectively.

    English Movies

    Movies Now continued at its number one spot observing an increase in the ratings with 4143 (‘000s) as compared to 2969 (‘000s) in week 10. Star Movies saw a decline in the ratings but maintained its second position with 2344 (‘000s). Zee Studio climbed up the row grabbing the third slot with 1727 (‘000s)  from fifh place in week 10, followed by Sony Pix at the fourth position with 1531 (‘000s).  HBO bagged the fifth position with 1475 (‘000s).

    MUMBAI: English Movies emerged as the most benefited genre with 4.9 percent growth. Movies Now was at the top of the chart with 54.5 per cent opportunity to see (OTS) in week 11 as reported by Chrome Data Analytics & Media.

    Next in the tally was Business News in the six metros which witnessed growth of 3.8 per cent with CNBC Awaaz as the most benefited channel in the genre with 82. 6 per cent OTS.

    The sports genre bagged the third spot in the chart which saw growth of 3.6 per cent with DD Sports leading the genre with 80.0 per cent OTS on an all India basis. Last but but not the least, English News in the six metros grabbed the fourth slot with LokSabha TV topping the chart with 92.4 per cent OTS.

    Among the losers this week, the religious section recorded a fall of 1.8 per cent with Aastha, which emerged as the most affected channel in the genre with 94. 0 per cent OTS.

    English Entertainment in eight metros recorded a decline of 1.1 per cent and Comedy Central led the genre with 48. 2 per cent.  Third in the list was Infotainment on an all India basis which witnessed downfall of 1.0 per cent with History TV 18 topping the chart with 82.2 percent OTS.

    Hindi News in the Hindi speaking market (HSM) declined by 0.7 per cent and ABP news with 92.1 per cent OTS led the genre.
