    BARC week 23: Sun TV continues to top all genres, Sony Max moves even lower

    MUMBAI:  Sun TV continued its run at the top position in week 23 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, followed by Star Plus and Colors at second and third place respectively with Sony Max, now bereft of the IPL luxury, moving even lower down in the pecking order from its last week’s fourth place to seventh. The list covers the top 10 channels across all genres.

    Placed at the top slot, Sun TV reported lower ratings in week 23 at 879042 Impression (000s) as compared to 979272 Impression (000s) in week 22. Star Plus with lower ratings than last week’s 771342 Impression (000s) retained second spot with 749377 Impression (000s) in week 23.

    Colors also retained third place with 718225 Impression (000s) in week 23 as compared 720052 Impression (000s) in week 22. Zee TV moved up to fourth place in week 23 with ratings of 552118 Impressions (000s) as compared to 567178 Impressions (000s) in the previous week.

    Sony Pal moved up two places from its last week’s position to fifth place with 521869 Impressions (000’s) as compared to 526739 Impressions (000’s) in week 22. Star Utsav retained sixth place in week 23 with 513660 Impressions (000’s) as compared to 527825 Impressions (000’s) in week 22.

    Sony Max with a far lower score in week 23 of 483717 Impression (000s) as compared to 618756 Impression (000s) in week 22 was demoted to seventh place. Zee Telugu moved one up place to eight spot in week 23 with 448342 Impressions (000s) as compared to  472509 Impressions (000s) during week 22, hence pushing down Life OK, which slid down two positions to tenth place.

    Zee Anmol move up one place to ninth in week 23 with 444174 Impressions (000s) as compared to 431517 Impressions (000s) in week 22. Life OK was at tenth place in week 23 with 433932 Impressions (000s) as compared t0 438899 Impressions (000s) in week 22.

    MUMBAI: Times Now continued to top the English News genre while ET Now sustained its number one position in English Business News.
    In the Hindi News genre Aaj Tak stood at number one position while CNBC Awaaz secured the first spot in Hindi Business News space. 
    According to week 22 of BARC India ratings, genre leaders continued to dominate their respective spaces, English News genre saw a decline in the ratings whereas English Business News space saw an increase in viewership. Whereas, players in Hindi News and Hindi Business News genre witnessed a downfall in ratings this week.
    English News
    Times Now witnessed a decline in the ratings but continued to be at the number one position with 385 Impressions (000s) this week to 436 Impressions (000s) last week. India Today Television saw an increase in the ratings and stood on second position with 177 Impressions followed by NDTV 24×7 at the third spot with 147 Impressions (000s). CNN News18 took the fourth berth with 129 Impressions (000s). News 9 continued at the fifth position with 112  Impressions (000s).
    English Business News
    ET Now sustained at the top with an increase in the rating from 115 Impressions (000s) to 138 Impressions (000s) in this week. CNBC TV18 also saw a slight improvement with 118 Impressions (000s). NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime continued at its third position with 54 Impressions (000s). Bloomberg TV was on last spot with 10 Impressions (000s).
    Hindi News
    Aaj Tak, despite a slide in the ratings, sustained its number one position with 66701 Impressions (000s) as compared to 67008 Impressions (000s) in the previous week. India TV with a decline in ratings grabbed the second spot with 61807 Impressions (000s) as to 62015 Impressions (000s) in week 21. ABP News garnered 42007 Impressions (000s) and was at third spot, wile India News with 41016 Impressions (000s) was on fourth position. News Nation with an increase in the ratings from 39815 Impressions (000s) was at fifth place
    Hindi Business News
    CNBC Awaaz maintained its first position despite declined ratings from 671 Impressions (000s) in the previous week to 608 Impressions (000s) in week 22. The second spot was taken by Zee Business with 436 Impressions (000s) in comparison to 460 Impressions (000s) in week 21.

    MUMBAI: According to week 21 of BARC India, 6 Mega Cities : NCCS AB : 4+ Individuals rating ,  Zee Café sustained its number one position with improved ratings in the English entertainment space whereas Movies Now continued to dominate the English movies genre. 
    The English entertainment space observed increase in its ratings except for Colors Infinity while the English movies genre observed a substantial increase in its viewership data this week. 
    English Entertainment
    Zee Café dominated the genre witnessing an increase in ratings from 222 Impressions (000s) in week 21 to 301 Impressions (000s) this week. Comedy Central sustained its second spot with 284 Impressions (000s) followed by AXN with 181 Impressions (000s). Star World climbed the row grabbing the fourth position with 141 Impressions (000s).
    Colors Infinity SD witnessed a decline in the and took the fifth berth with 114 Impressions (000s).
    English Movies
    Movies Now bagged the number one slot with 3586 Impressions (000s) followed by Star Movies at the second place with 3168 Impressions (000s). Sony Pix secured the third position with 2396 Impressions (000s). Zee Studio grabbed fourth position with 1897 Impressions (000s) and HBO took the fifth spot with 1821 Impressions (000s).

    Zee TV retained fifth space in week 22 with lower ratings of 567178 Impressions (000s) as compared to 570091 Impressions (000s) in the previous week. 

    Star Utsav also retained sixth place with a growth in rating to 527825 Impressions (000’s) from 478993 Impressions (000’s) in the previous week. , Sony Pal also retained its last week’s position of seventh place with 526739 Impressions (000’s) as compared to 467806 Impressions (000’s).

    Life OK returned to eight spot, pushing down Zee Telugu one place in week 22 with 438899 Impressions (000s) as compared to 435353 Impressions (000s) in week 21

    ZeeTelugu moved one place down to ninth place in week 22 with 472509 Impressions (000s) as compared to 458926 Impressions (000s) during last week.

    Week 22: BARC rolls out combined Rural+ Urban ratings along with the separate data

    MUMBAI: From week 19, Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) started reporting data by dividing ratings into rural and urban categories. In week 22, BARC has given a new twist to the ratings by introducing the combined data of Rural plus Urban. Hence, from week 22, BARC will give separate Rural and Urban data along with the combined Rural and Urban Hindi GEC ratings.  

    Hindi GEC (Rural )

    Star Utsav continued to garner the first position with 411183 Impressions (000’s) followed by Sony Pal with 396763 Impressions (000’s) and Zee Anmol with 331471 Impressions (000’s) stood at number three.

    Colors’ free to air channel Rishtey replaced Zee TV at fourth spot with 269190 Impressions followed by Star Plus which stood at fifth number with 245291 Impressions’ 000s and Zee TV at sixth spot with 230765 Impressions 000’s.

    Colors maintained its seventh spot with 229334 Impressions (000’s) and Life OK stood at number eight with 168745 Impressions (000’s).

    In rural data,  Big Magic stood at number nine with 157099 Impressions (000’s) and Sab TV with 115260 Impressions (000’s) grabbed tenth spot.

    Hindi GEC (Urban )

    Star Plus continued to lead the Hindi general entertainment channel (GECs) with 465665 Impressions (000’s) followed by Colors with 456104 (000’s) on second slot and Zee TV with 291474 Impressions (000’s) at third place.

    With no change in the ranking order, Life OK, Sab TV and Sony Entertainment Channel bagged fourth, fifth and sixth position with 291474 Impressions (000’s), 256888 Impressions (000’s) and 240040 Impressions (000’s) respectively.

    Sony’s free to air channel Sony Pal grabbed the seventh spot with 128739 (000’s) and &TV stood at eighth spot with 119527 Impressions (000’s).

    Star Utsav stood at number ninth berth with 114881 Impressions (000’s) while Zee Anmol grabbed tenth place at 99308 Impressions (000’s)

    Hindi GEC (Rural + Urban)

    Even in Hindi GEC (Rural + Urban), Star India stood at numero uno, its Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus lead the genre with 710956 Impressions (’000s) followed by Colors at second slot with 685438 Impressions’ (000s).

    On the other hand, Star India’s free to air channel Star Utsav bagged the third spot with 526064 Impressions (’000s) and SPN’s Sony Pal managed to take garb fourth spot in the genre with 525502 Impressions ‘(000s).  

    While Zee TV maintained the fifth slot with 524824 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Life OK at number six with 460218 Impressions’ (000s) and Zee Anmol at number seven with 430779 Impressions (000’s) respectively.

    In rural+ urban data, Sab TV, Rishtey and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) grabbed the eighth, ninth, tenth slot with 372148 Impressions (000’s), 360492 Impressions (000’s) and 333131 Impressions (000’s) respectively
