    BARC Ratings: Colors tops Urban & (U+R) GEC ranking; Star Utsav leads in Rural HSM

    MUMBAI:  Colors’ new offering Kavach has helped push the Hindi GEC to the pole position in Urban Hindi HSM as well as in Urban + Rural market in week 24 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data. While in Rural HSM, Star India’s free to air channel, Star Utsav continues to be yards ahead of the rest.

    Urban+Rural

    On the back of the new Balaji Telefilms’ show Kavach, Colors dominates the Hindi general entertainment channels (GEC) with 664517 Impressions (000s) followed by Star Plus at the second slot with 641404 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV on No 3 with 529237 Impressions (000s). 

    Star India’s free to air channel, Star Utsav stood at number four with 520494 Impressions (000s) whereas ZEEL’s FTA Zee Anmol bagged the fifth slot with 457988 Impressions (000s). 

    Sony Pal and Life OK grabbed the sixth and seventh spot with 445750 Impressions (000s) and  417981 Impressions (000s) respectively. 

    In week 24, Sony Pictures Network(SPN)’s Sab TV and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) occupied the eighth and ninth slot with 367376 Impressions (000s) and 365704 Impressions (000’s).

    Rishtey stood at No 10 with 345618 Impressions (000s)

    Urban HSM

    Even in the Urban Hindi speaking market, Colors continues to marginally lead the Hindi GEC genre with 447336 Impressions (000s) followed by Star Plus with 438480 Impressions (000s) at No 2 and Zee TV on third with 295443 Impressions (000s). 

    Star India’s second Hindi GEC Life Ok stood at number four with 269294 Impressions (000s) while Sab TV and Sony Entertainment were at No 5 and No 6 with 259711 Impressions (000s) and 254529 Impressions (000s) respectively. 

    In Urban HSM, Star Utsav ranked No 7 with 116736 Impressions (000s) followed by &TV on eighth with 114365 Impressions (000s) and Sony Pal on ninth with 108769 Impressions (000s). 

    FTA Zee Anmol stood at number ten with 102389 Impressions (000s)

    Rural HSM 

    In Rural HSM, Star Utsav is the front runner with 403758 Impressions (000s) followed by Zee Anmol with 355599 Impressions (000’s) and Sony Pal with 336981 Impressions (000’s) at number three.

    Colors’ free to air channel Rishtey was at the fourth spot with 262267 Impressions followed by  Zee TV which stood at No 5 with  233794 Impressions (000s) and Colors at sixth spot with 217181 Impressions (000s).

    Star Plus was at No 7 with 202924 Impressions (000s) while Life OK and Big Magic stood at eighth and ninth with 148687 Impressions (000s) and 148280 Impressions (000s). 

    On the other hand, Sony Entertainment Television ranked No 10 with 111175 Impressions (000s)

    Comedy Central, Star Movies & Discovery dominate respective genres

    MUMBAI: Comedy Central toppled Zee Café in English entertainment genre while Star Movies emerged as the new leader in the English movies space.

    According to week 23 of BARC India, 6 Mega Cities : NCCS AB : 4+ Individuals rating, the English entertainment space observed mixed ratings while the English movies genre observed a substantial decline in its viewership data this week. 

    There was a slight change in the pecking order of the top five infotainment channels for BARC week 23 when compared to week 22 data. Animal Planet and Nat Geo Wild traded places. The latter moved up one spot forcing the latter down to the last place. The Lifestyle genre saw no shifts among the top five channels as compared to the previous week.

    English Entertainment

    Comedy Central toppled Zee Café dominating the genre with 315 Impressions (000s). Zee Café grabbed second spot with 257 Impressions (000s) followed by Star World with 163 Impressions (000s). Colors Infinity SD took the fourth place with 154 Impressions (000s) while AXN bagged the fifth spot with 120 Impressions (000s).

    English Movies

    Star Movies replaced Movies Now bagging the number one slot with 2842 Impressions (000s) followed by Movies Now at the second place with 2503 Impressions (000s). Sony Pix secured the third position with 1844 Impressions (000s). Zee Studio grabbed fourth position with 1673 Impressions (000s) and HBO took the fifth spot with 1340 Impressions (000s).

    Infotainment 

    Discovery retained top position with 4783 Impressions (000s) followed by History TV18 that also retained second position with 3813 Impressions (000s). National Geographic Channel with 3721 Impressions (000s) stood at third position while Nat Geo Wild moved up to fourth position with 2881 Impressions (000s). Animal Planet with 2709 Impressions (000s) moved down to fifth position. 

    Lifestyle

    Living Foodz held its first position in week 23 with 1623 Impressions (000s), Home Shop 18 with 750 Impressions (000s) held second spot. Fox Life with 685 Impressions (000s) followed on third spot. Shop Cj with 455 Impressions (000s) and Food Food with 422 Impressions (000s) secured fourth and fifth positions respectively.

    MUMBAI: According to BARC NCCS All Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs) 4+ Individuals data for week 23, Jodha Akbar on FTA Zee Anmol topped the Top 5 Hindi GEC Programs for Rural markets followed by Naagin on Colors. However, going by BARC Top 5 Hindi GEC Programs (Urban+Rural), Jodha Akbar on Zee Anmol stood at fourth position, while it did not find a place among Top 5 Hindi GEC Programs for Urban. 

    Naagin on Colors found a place among the top five lists across all the three BARC Hindi GEC classifications. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya was also among the top five lists across all the three classifications, but on different channels. In the rural markets it found a place on Star Utsav while in Urban and (Urban+Rural) markets it found a place among the top 5 on Star Plus.

    Three of Zee Anmol’s programs were listed among the top 5 in rural markets. 

    Rural

    In week 23, Jodhan Akbar on Zee Anmol with with 6935 Impressions (000s) topped the market followed by Naagin on Colors with 5672 Impressions (000s).  Bandini also on Zee Anmol with 4805 Impressions (000s) came third among the Top 5 Hindi GEC Programs for Rural markets, followed by Saath Nibhaana Saathiya on Star Utsav with 4503 Impressions (000s). It is Zee Anmol’s Meri Doli Teri Angana with 4348 Impressions (000s) that stood last in the top 5 Hindi GEC Programs Rural markets list for week 23.

    Urban

    Naagin has been dominating the urban market for long and it continued on top in week 23 with 11108 Impressions (000s), followed by Ye Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus with 8299 Impressions (000s) on second spot. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya also on Star Plus stood third with 5800 Impressions (000s) followed by Kumkum Bhagya on Zee with 5653 Impressions (000s) on fourth spot. India’s Got Talent on Colors took the last spot with 5650 Impressions (000s).

    Urban+Rural

    Here also, Naagin on Colors took the pole position with 16780 Impressions (000s) followed by Ye Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus with 1237 Impressions (000s) on second spot. Kumkum Bhagya on Zee with 9344 Impressions (000s) was at third place. Jodha Akbar on Zee Anmol and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya on Star Plus took fourth and fifth places with 8864 Impressions (000s) and 8802 Impressions (000s) respectively.

    MUMBAI: According to BARC NCCS All Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs) 4+ Individuals data for week 23, Jodha Akbar on FTA Zee Anmol topped the Top 5 Hindi GEC Programs for Rural markets followed by Naagin on Colors. However, going by BARC Top 5 Hindi GEC Programs (Urban+Rural), Jodha Akbar on Zee Anmol stood at fourth position, while it did not find a place among Top 5 Hindi GEC Programs for Urban. 

    Naagin on Colors found a place among the top five lists across all the three BARC Hindi GEC classifications. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya was also among the top five lists across all the three classifications, but on different channels. In the rural markets it found a place on Star Utsav while in Urban and (Urban+Rural) markets it found a place among the top 5 on Star Plus.

    Three of Zee Anmol’s programs were listed among the top 5 in rural markets. 

    Rural

    In week 23, Jodhan Akbar on Zee Anmol with with 6935 Impressions (000s) topped the market followed by Naagin on Colors with 5672 Impressions (000s).  Bandini also on Zee Anmol with 4805 Impressions (000s) came third among the Top 5 Hindi GEC Programs for Rural markets, followed by Saath Nibhaana Saathiya on Star Utsav with 4503 Impressions (000s).     MUMBAI: News X entered the English News genre list at the fifth position while CNBC TV18 toppled ET Now in English Business News space. The English News space players also witness shuffling at various levels.

    According to week 23 of BARC India ratings, Hindi news genre witnessed an increase in the ratings. Meanwhile, channels in the Hindi Business News space saw a downfall in the ratings this week.

    English News

    Times Now with a decline in the ratings continued to remain as the undisputed leader with 364 Impressions (000s) as to 385 Impressions (000s) in week 22. NDTV 24×7 went one step up taking the second berth with 167 Impressions (000s) followed by CNN News18 with 158 Impressions (000s). India Today Television witnessed a decline in the ratings and stood on fourth position with 116 Impressions while News X entered the top 5 list at the fifth place with  87  Impressions (000s).

    English Business News

    CNBC TV 18 toppled ET Now taking the first position with 143 Impressions (000s) followed by ET Now with 110 Impressions (000s). NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime continued at its third position with 51 Impressions (000s) while Bloomberg TV was on last spot with 8 Impressions (000s).

    Hindi News

    Aaj Tak with an increase in the ratings sustained its number one position with 70229 Impressions (000s) as compared to 66701 Impressions (000s) last week. India TV continued at its second spot with 63607 Impressions (000s) followed by ABP News with 43886 Impressions (000s) at the third spot. News Nation climbed up the list taking the fourth position with 42770 Impressions (000s) while India News with 42727 Impressions (000s) settled at the fifth position. 

    Hindi Business News

    CNBC Awaaz maintained its first position with declined ratings from 608 Impressions (000s) last week to 506 Impressions (000s) in week 23. The second spot was taken by Zee Business with 410 Impressions (000s) in comparison to 436 Impressions (000s) in week 22.

    MUMBAI: Week 23 saw Viacom 18’s Nick staying strong in its top position as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India’s all India (U+R) data in NCCS All 4-14 Individuals category.

    The channel has bagged a 95275 (000s sums) ratings, followed by Hungama with 71679 (000s sums) and Disney Channel on the third spot with 70307 (000s sums) ratings.

    Turner International’s Pogo TV was on the fourth spot with a viewership rating of 55133(000s sums), while its sister channel Cartoon network came last amongst the five most watched channels in the genre with a rating of 33996 (000s sums).

    When it comes to top five programs in the kids genre, Nick’s Motu Patlu was the uncontested ruler with all the top five positions taken by Nick’s flagship characters, and the trend seems to have continued for the past couple of weeks.

    While Motu Patlu In Alien World – Part I secured top spot with 1101( 000s sums) ratings, Motu Patlu In Carnival Island was second in the list with 1000(000s sums), followed by Motu Patlu 36 Ghantey Race Against Time with 934(000s sums) viewership ratings.

    Motu Patlu Mission Moon and Motu Patlu Deep Sea Adventure were fourth and fifth in the list with 929 (000s sums) and 807 (000s sums) respectively.
