    English movies most benefited genre in Chrome DM week 48

    MUMBAI: With a growth of 1.04 per cent as compared to last week (47), the English movies genre marked the highest opportunity to see (OTS) among all categories in week 48 of Chrome Data Analytics & Media. 

    In the English movies genre, Movies Now gained the highest OTS with 59.3 per cent in six metros market.

    OTS is the actual census-based percentage connectivity of a channel spread across 81 million homes, as reported by Chrome DM, across analogue cable, digital cable and DTH. 

    The second position in the gainer’s list of OTS was grabbed by the Infotainment genre with the growth of 0.68 per cent in All India 1 Lakh+ market. NGC was the most benefitted channel in this category with 92 per cent.

    The third position in the gainers was garnered by the Hindi movies genre in HSM excluding the less than 1L-market with 0.41 per cent OTS. Rishtey Cineplex gained the highest OTS with 94.8 per cent.

    The Hindi GEC genre was at the fourth position in the list with 0.19 per cent growth and Rishtey catered to 99.1 per cent OTS in HSM excluding the less than 1L-market.

    BENGALURU: Week 47 of 2018 (Saturday, 17 November 2018 to Friday, 23 November 2018, week under review) had an all GEC roster in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genres. Further, Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV and Star India’s flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa were the only non-Hindi GECs in the across genres list during the week under review. From the networks' perspective, as has become a norm, there were four Star India channels, two channels each from Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) and one channel each from Sun TV Network and Viacom18. During the week under review the first five ranks order was the same as in the previous week.  

    At its normal first rank in week 47 of 2018 was Sun TV with 990.104 million weekly impressions as compared to 935.190 million weekly impressions in week 46 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and four programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

    Also at its previous week’s second rank  in week 47 of 2018 was Zeel’s free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol with 842.236 million weekly impressions as compared to 775.164 million weekly impressions in week 46. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking markets or HSM (U+R) and HSM (R) and was ranked ninth in HSM (U). The Balaji Telefilms-produced soap Kumkum Bhagya was ranked first in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R). Another programme aired on the channel – Mahek was ranked second in HSM (R).

    Continuing at its previous week’s third rank was Star India’s pay-TV channel Star Bharat. The channel scored 765.704 million weekly impressions in week 47 of 2018 as compared to 722.909 million weekly impressions in week 46. Star Bharat was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), fourth in HSM (R) and was ranked fifth in HSM (U). The Hindi mythology Radhakrishn on the channel was ranked fourth and fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U) respectively.

    Star India’s flagship Hindi GEC Star Plus also retained its previous week’s rank – fourth, with 748.250 million impressions in week 47 of 2018 as compared to 696.102 million weekly impressions in week 46. Star Plus was ranked third in BARC’s weekly lists of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (U) and ninth in HSM (R). The 4 Lion Films soap Kulfi Kumar Bajewala aired on Star Plus was present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime  based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U) at fourth rank.

    Zeel’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV also maintained its week 46 rank of fifth place in week 47. Zee TV garnered 728.191 million weekly impressions in week 47 of 2018 as compared to 694.459 million weekly impressions in week 46. Zee TV was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), seventh in HSM (R), and third in HSM (U) during the week under review. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kumkum Bhagya, and its spinoff Kundali Bhagya were at fifth and third ranks respectively in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and third and second respectively in HSM (U).

    Star India’s FTA Hindi GEC Star Utsav climbed up a rank to sixth place in week 47 of 2018 with 719.252 million weekly impressions as compared to 678.124 weekly impressions in week 46. Star Utsav was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), second in HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U).

    Star Maa dropped a rank to seventh place in week 47 of 2018 with 676.362 million weekly impressions as compared with 679.864 million weekly impressions in week 46. Star Maa was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. Five programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in the same market.

    Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors climbed up two ranks to eighth place in week 47 of 2018 with 676.362 million weekly impressions as compared to 642.486 million weekly impressions in week 46. Colors was ranked seventh, tenth and fourth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R), HSM (R) and HSM (U) respectively. The Balaji Telefilms produced third season of the supernatural drama Naagin 3 was ranked second and first in BARC’s lists of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime  based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U) respectively.

    SPN’s flagship Hindi GEC Sony Entertainment Television or SET re-entered the across genres list in week 47 of 2018 with 627.218 mill weekly impressions at ninth rank. SET was ranked eighth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and was ranked second in HSM (U).

    Dropping two places to tenth rank in week 47 of 2018 was SPN’s women focused Hindi GEC Sony Pal with 617.770 million weekly impressions as compared to 664.269 million weekly impressions. Sony Pal was ranked sixth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R), third in HSM (R) and was ranked eighth in HSM (U). The sitcom Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah on Sony Pal was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    MUMBAI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India has released its data for top advertisers and brands between 10 November 2018 – 16 November 2018.

    The data is a reflection of top 10 advertiser and brands across genre on Indian television (U+R): 2+ Individuals.

    The data demonstrates ads that were inserted the most in week 46 of 2018.

    Top Advertisers:

    For week 46, Hindustan Unilever Ltd stays on first position as the top advertiser and led with 1,30,795 ad insertions on television. HUL's products include foods, beverages, cleaning agents, personal care products and water purifiers.

    Reckitt Benckiser Ltd, maker of Dettol, Veet, Durex condoms, Strepsils, Air Wick, Harpic came in second with 81,467 ad insertions followed by ITC Limited with 39,506 insertions.

    Procter & Gamble stood fourth followed by Ponds India with 37,611 and 32,491 insertions.

    Top Brands:

    Surprisingly, Bharatiya Janata Party, the political party, took the first spot with 22,099 insertions. Netflix stood second followed by Trivago with 12,951 and 12,795 insertions respectively.

    Santoor Sandal and Turmeric took the fourth position with 11,222 insertions followed by Dettol Liquid Soap with a mere 9,487 insertions.

    MUMBAI: In the Bengali space, Aakash Aath climbed to the third position from fifth position as compared to the previous week in BARC data week 46. News18 Bihar Jharkhand emerged as the new player in the market by securing fifth position. Mazhavil Manorama and Surya TV interchanged their third and fourth positions in the Malayalam market. No changes were observed in Tamil, Marathi and Telugu segment.

    Bangla

    Zee Bangla and Star Jalsha continued to be on first and second positions with 359602 impressions '000s and 289451 impressions '000s respectively. Aakash Aath climbed to the third position from fifth position as compared to the previous week with 61725 impressions '000s. Colors Bangla and Jalsha Movies stood at fourth and fifth positions respectively with 61205 impressions '000s and 60091 impressions '000s.

    Bhojpuri

    Big Ganga, Bhojpuri Cinema, Bhojpuri Dhamaka Dishum, and Housefull Action retained their first, second, third and fourth positions with 57272 impressions '000s, 48736 impressions '000s, 16193 impressions '000s and 5110 impressions '000s respectively. News18 Bihar Jharkhand emerged as the new player in the market by securing fifth position with 3958 impressions '000s.

    Kannada

    No changes were observed in this segment. Colors Kannada, Zee Kannada, Udaya TV, Udaya Movies and Star Suvarna continued to be at first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions with 462359 impressions '000s and 401719 impressions '000s, 227776 impressions '000s, 184480 impressions '000s and 143776 impressions '000s respectively.

    Malayalam

    Asianet, the Malayalam general entertainment channel from Star TV and Flowers TV retained their first and second positions this week as well with 297815 impressions '000s and 105029 impressions '000s respectively. Mazhavil Manorama and Surya TV interchanged their third and fourth positions with 85263 impressions ‘000s and 76099 impressions '000s respectively. Asianet Movies continued to be at fifth position with 63712 impressions '000s.

    Marathi

    No changes were observed in this sector. Zee Marathi, Colors Marathi, Star Pravah, Zee Talkies and Zee Yuva continued to be in first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 411590 impressions '000s, 135799 impressions '000s, 131606 impressions '000s, 112065 impressions '000s and 37392 impressions '000s.

    Tamil

    Sun TV, Zee Tamil, Star Vijay, KTV and Adithya TV retained their first, second, third and fourth positions respectively with 871265 impressions '000s, 484799 impressions '000s, 459320 impressions '000s, 352072 impressions '000s and 100077 impressions '000s.

    Telugu

    Star Maa, Zee Telugu, Gemini TV, ETV Telugu and Gemini Movies continued to be on first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 637863 impressions '000s, 504682 impressions '000s, 452339 impressions '000s, 442173 impressions '000s and 213367 impressions '000s.

    MUMBAI: Star Bharat and Star Utsav swapped their second and third positions in the Hindi (U+R) genre in Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) data for week 46 of 2018. Sony Pal and Star Utsav interchanged their second and third positions as compared to the previous week in the rural market.

    Sony Entertainment Television came third in the urban market.

    Hindi GEC (U+R)

    Zee Anmol retained its leadership position with 772355 impressions ‘000s. Star Bharat and Star Utsav swapped their second and third positions respectively with 714851 impressions ‘000s and 663803 impressions ‘000s.

    Sony Pal climbed to the fourth position from seventh as compared to the previous week with 659732 impressions ‘000s. Zee TV jumped to the fifth position from its fourth position with 656010 impressions ‘000s. Star Plus and Colors stood at sixth and seventh positions respectively with 655510 impressions ‘000s and 613069 impressions ‘000s respectively. Sony Entertainment Television, Sony Sab and Dangal TV continued to be on eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively with 598255 impressions ‘000s, 469953 impressions ‘000s and 431286 impressions ‘000s.

    Hindi Rural GEC

    Zee Anmol retained its first position with 631735 impressions ‘000s. Sony Pal and Star Utsav interchanged their second and third positions as compared to the previous week with 479286 impressions ‘000s and 457753 impressions ‘000s respectively.

    Star Bharat, Dangal TV, Rishtey, Zee TV, Big Magic, Star Plus and Colors continued to be on fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively with 368876 impressions ‘000s, 336778 impressions ‘000s, 292921 impressions ‘000s, 257556 impressions ‘000s, 223135 impressions ‘000s, 210023 impressions ‘000s and 192990 impressions ‘000s.

    Hindi Urban GEC

    Sony Entertainment Television bagged came third with 446019 impressions ‘000s. Star Plus jumped to the second position from first position as compared to the last week with 445487 impressions ‘000s. Colors, that was on second position last week, stood at third position now with 420079 impressions ‘000s.

    Zee TV, Star Bharat, Sony Sab, Star Utsav, Sony Pal, Zee Anmol and &TV retained their fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively with 398454 impressions ‘000s, 345975 impressions ‘000s, 341477 impressions ‘000s, 206050 impressions ‘000s, 180446 impressions ‘000s, 140620 impressions ‘000s and 118864 impressions ‘000s.

    BENGALURU: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd's (Zeel) free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol was ranked second, as in the previous week,  in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 46 of 2018 (Saturday, 10 November 2018 to Friday, 16 November 2018). At its usual place at first rank in BARC’s weekly list for week 46 of 2018 was the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV. Hence, Zee Anmol was the most watched Hindi channel, be it Hindi GEC or Hindi movies during the week under review.

    Seven Hindi GECs and one channel each from the Hindi movies, Tamil and Telugu channels made up BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 46 of 2018. From the network’s perspective, as has also become a norm, there were four channels from Star India, two channels each from Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) and Zeel and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom18.

    As mentioned above, at its normal first rank in week 46 was the Tamil GEC Sun TV with 935.190 million weekly impressions as compared to 1,116.456 million weekly impressions in week 45 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and four programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

    At second place was Zee Anmol in week 46 of 2018. The channel scored 775.164 million weekly impressions as compared to 815.684 million weekly impressions in week 45. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking markets or HSM (U+R) and HSM (R) and was ranked ninth in HSM (U). The Balaji Telefilms produced soap Kumkum Bhagya was ranked second in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (R).  Another two programmes aired on the channel – Mahek was ranked third  and Ek Main Aur Ek Tu was ranked fifth in HSM (R).

    Star India’s pay-TV channel Star Bharat climbed up to third rank in week 46 of 2017 from seventh rank in the previous week. The channel scored 722.909 million weekly impressions in week 46 as compared to 668.070 million weekly impressions in week 45. Star Bharat was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), fourth in HSM (R) and was ranked fifth in HSM (U). Star Plus was ranked sixth in BARC’s weekly lists of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and was ranked second in HSM (U) and ninth in HSM (R). Zee TV scored 694.459 million weekly impressions in week 46 of 2018 as compared to 681.144 million weekly impressions in week 45. Zee TV was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), seventh in HSM (R), and fourth in HSM (U) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kumkum Bhagya, and its spinoff Kundali Bhagya were at fourth and third ranks respectively in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and third and second respectively in HSM (U).

Star Utsav was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), and in HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U).

    SPN’s women focused Hindi GEC Sony Pal re-entered BARC’s across genres list in week 46 of 2018 with 664.2681.54159 million weekly impressions. Sony Pal was ranked seventh in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), second in HSM (R) and was ranked eighth in HSM (U). The sitcom Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah on Sony Pal was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    SPN’s Hindi movies channel Sony Max dropped one place to rank nine in week 46 of 2018 with 644.646 million weekly impressions as compared to 630.586 million weekly impressions in week 45. Sony Max was ranked first in BARC’s weekly lists of top 5 Hindi movies channels in HSM (U+R), and HSM (U) and was ranked fifth in HSM (R). The Hindi Feature Films (HFF)  – World Television Premier or WTP Raj Mahal 4,  HFF-Sooryavansham

    WTP-HFF-Nawabzaadev and HFF-DJ were ranked second, third, fourth and fifth respectively in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi movies programmes during primetime  based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U).

    Dropping down a rank was Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors in week 46 of 2018 with 642.486 million weekly impressions as compared to 621.799 million weekly impressions in week 45. Colors was ranked seventh, tenth and third in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), HSM (R) and HSM (U) respectively. The Balaji Telefilms produced third season of the supernatural drama Naagin 3 was ranked first in BARC’s lists of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime  based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U).

    MUMBAI: With a growth of 1.07 per cent, the kids genre in all India 1 lakh+, marked the highest opportunity to see (OTS) among all categories in week 46 of Chrome Data Analytics and Media. Discovery garnered the highest OTS in kids’ genre with 90.5 per cent.

    The Hindi news genre came in second in the gainers list of OTS with 0.85 per cent; DD News gained the highest OTS with 99.4 per cent growth in HSM excluding the less than 1L-market, followed by English news genre coming in third in the gainers list of OTS with 0.62 per cent in 6 metros market. Loksabha TV garnered the highest OTS in the English news genre with 98.3 per cent.

    Mumbai: Mr. Pranav Rajesh Dake, owner of Zee Maharashtra Kushti Dangal’s Mumbai team – Mumbai Astra has regrettably been unable to meet the financial obligations towards Zee Maharashtra Kushti Dangal (ZMKD), its players and technicians. Mr. Dake had signed a term sheet for the maiden season of the ongoing Zee Maharashtra Kushti Dangal but unfortunately has not be able to honor the agreement. The Mumbai team however continues to be a part of ZMKD and would be participating in the ongoing championship.

    Conceptualised by Zee Talkies, Zee Maharashtra Kushti Dangal is a franchise-based format of wrestling, and the first of its kind event to be televised. The aim was to give this sport an unprecedented platform, akin to the exposure other Indian sports like Kabbadi & Cricket. Zee Talkies would be the first channel to host such an event in the state of Maharashtra between 2nd to 18th November, 2018 at the Balewadi Stadium, Pune with six teams participating in it. Inaugurated at the hands of Shri.     MUMBAI: Zee TV's recently concluded annual awards property, Zee Rishtey Awards, clocked the highest viewership ratings across award shows that took place in the last two years. As per the recently released BARC HSM weekly data (Urban + Rural) for the week 44 '18, it secured a viewership of 5495 TVTs, which is the highest across awards shows in the category.

    The company attributeed the award show and its fiction shows for the increase in ratings. The Zee Rishtey award was presented by Dabur Almond Hair Oil, co-powered by Nerolac Paints, Brooke Bond Red Label and Himalaya Anti- Hairfall Shampoo; special partner Dixcy Scott, Jewellery partner Malabar Gold and Diamonds; partnered by Parle Milano.

    Zee TV business head Aparna Bhosle said, “The success of our prime-time fiction shows stands testimony to the strengthening of our relationship with our audiences.     Along with the success of Zee Rishtey Awards, three out of five weekday top fiction shows (Urban numbers) are from Zee TV – Kundali Bhagya with 7674 TVTs, Kumkum Bhagya with 6374 TVTs and Ishq Subhan Allah with 5700 TVTs. Zee TV has also been a consistent slot leader at 7 pm (Yeh Teri Galiyaan), 8 pm (Guddan… Tumse Na Ho Paega), 9:30 pm (Kundali Bhagya) and 10:30 pm (Aapke Aa Jaane Se) at HSM – (Urban + Rural) in the last four weeks- wk 41 to wk 44’18.

    MUMBAI: In the Bengali space, Colors Bangla and Sony Aath swapped their fourth and fifth positions in BARC data week 44. News18 Bihar Jharkhand emerged as the new player in the market by securing fifth position. No changes were observed in the Kannada and Marathi segments. In the Tamil space, Sun Life emerged as the new player. Moreover, in the Telugu segment, ETV Telugu and Gemini TV swapped their third and fourth positions.

    Bangla

    No changes were observed in this space. Zee Bangla, Star Jalsha and Jasha Movies continued to be at first and second positions respectively with 363169 impressions '000s, 324136 impressions '000s and 77070 impressions '000s. Colors Bangla and Sony Aath swapped their fourth and fifth positions respectively with 70626 impressions '000s and 63318 impressions '000s.

    Bhojpuri

    Big Ganga, Bhojpuri Cinema, Bhojpuri Dhamaka Dishum and Housefull Action retained their first, second, third and fourth positions with 47653 impressions '000s, 41595 impressions '000s, 12942 impressions '000s and 6598 impressions '000s respectively. News18 Bihar Jharkhand emerged as the new player in the market by securing fifth position with 2475 impressions '000s.

    Kannada

    No changes were observed in this segment. Colors Kannada, Zee Kannada, Udaya TV, Udaya Movies and Super Colors continued to be at first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions with 431556 impressions '000s and 401124 impressions '000s, 231402 impressions '000s, 177834 impressions '000s and 155191 impressions '000s respectively.

    Malayalam

    Asianet, the Malayalam general entertainment channel from Star TV and Flowers TV retained its first position this week as well with 289415 impressions '000s and 101740 impressions '000s respectively. Surya TV and Mazhavil Manorama interchanged their third and fourth positions with 86149 impressions ‘000s and 80368 impressions '000s respectively. Asianet movies continued to be on fifth position with 74220 impressions '000s.

    Marathi

    No changes were observed in this sector. Zee Marathi, Colors Marathi, Star Pravah, Zee Talkies and Zee Yuva continued to be on first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 417072 impressions '000s, 129784 impressions '000s, 124154 impressions '000s, 108761 impressions '000s and 34519 impressions '000s.

    Tamil

    Sun TV, Zee Tamil, Star Vijay and KTV retained their first, second, third and fourth positions respectively with 907099 impressions '000s, 527803 impressions '000s, 496202 impressions '000s and 340920 impressions '000s. Sun Life emerged as the new player in the segment with 92106 impressions '000s.  

    Telugu

    Star Maa and Zee Telugu continued to be at first and second positions with 674105 impressions '000s and 536410 impressions '000s respectively. ETV Telugu and Gemini TV swapped their third and fourth positions respectively with 445598 impressions '000s and 445364 impressions '000s. Gemini Movies retained its fifth position with 199920 impressions '000s.
