    Mumbai: Gallant Sports has announced the inauguration of a state-of-the-art injury-free multi-sports field at Modern School in Vasant Vihar. This cutting-edge facility, unveiled by cricketing legend and ex-Modernite Gautam Gambhir, marks a significant milestone in India’s sports infrastructure. It aims to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for young athletes to train and compete.

    Gallant Sports is leading the way in innovative sports infrastructure with the introduction of injury-free multi-sports fields in India. Covering nearly 100,000 sq ft, this advanced field features a unique non-rubber infill product and perforated pipes for effective water management. A shock pad enhances safety, supporting activities such as football, futsal, hockey, cricket, and athletics. Despite facing challenges like Delhi’s heat waves and rains, the project was completed on schedule, ensuring a safe and enjoyable playing space for children.

    PNB MetLife launches eight edition of Junior Badminton Championship

    Mumbai: PNB MetLife has announced the eighth edition of its Junior Badminton Championship (JBC), which is set to ignite the passion and potential of young badminton enthusiasts across the country. Building on the resounding success of preceding editions, the championship aims to continue its legacy of fostering sportsmanship, skill development, and the pursuit of excellence among India’s young shuttlers.

    This year’s championship spans 10 major cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Kochi, Jalandhar, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Ranchi, and Lucknow, providing a stage for young players to showcase their skills and compete at a state level. The city matches are scheduled to commence in New Delhi on 1 August.

    Since its inception, the PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship has grown in stature and popularity. The past seven editions have attracted over 48,000 participants in more than 38,000 matches. The championship was recognized by the World Record Certification Agency (WRCA) with a World Record for ‘Most kids participating in a Badminton Championship in multiple cities’ two years in a row, in 2022 and 2023.

    Serving as a pivotal platform for aspiring players aged between 7 and 17, the PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship offers categories ranging from Under 9 to Under 17, with matches conducted in singles format. Each participant can play in a maximum of two age categories, as long as the maximum age limit is upheld.

    Ultimate Table Tennis and Viacom18 extend broadcast deal to boost table tennis revolution

    Mumbai: Ultimate Table Tennis has partnered with Viacom18 to bring world-class table tennis action from the upcoming season of the league. UTT 2024 is scheduled to be held in Chennai from August 22 to September 7 and will be streamed on JioCinema for free and broadcasted on the Sports18 Network.

    This deal earmarks the second year of partnership between UTT and Viacom18 following a successful collaboration last season. The franchise-based league, which is in its fifth season, will witness 17 days of high-voltage and entertaining action as JioCinema and the Sports18 Network will bring high-octane matches in English and Hindi for table tennis and sports enthusiasts.

    Launched in 2017 and promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani under the auspices of the Table Tennis Federation of India, UTT has rapidly become one of the most sought-after global sports properties in table tennis. The league has played a significant role in the growth of Indian table tennis, contributing to India’s historic qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

    The league garnered a combined viewership of more than 33 million over 18 days on JioCinema and the Sports18 Network last season. This year expanding its footprint, UTT will feature eight teams for the first time with the addition of Ahmedabad SG Pipers and Jaipur Patriots. The other six teams participating in this edition are: PBG Bengaluru Smashers, Dabang Delhi TTC, U Mumba TT, Goa Challengers, Puneri Paltan Table Tennis and Chennai Lions.

    UTT adds on to the already diverse sporting portfolio of Viacom18, which is home to world-class sporting events, including the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024, Diamond League, select BWF events, BCCI Cricket, TATA IPL, TATA WPL, SA20, Major League Cricket (MLC) and the NBA among others.

    A total of 48 premier paddlers, including top Indian players like Achanta Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Sreeja Akula alongside 16 global stars such as World No. 9 Bernadette Szocs, World No. 16 Nina Mittelham and Nigeria’s ace player Quadri Aruna, are set to compete in the UTT 2024.

    Mumbai: Stupa Sports Analytics, a leading sports technology company, has announced that it will be the streaming partner for the ITTF World Masters Table Tennis Championships Rome 2024. With around 6,000 participants, the event is poised to make history as the largest table tennis gathering to date.

    The event will feature 11 age categories, with titles contested in men’s and women’s singles, doubles, as well as mixed doubles. Para table tennis will also be included for the first time, making Rome 2024 the most inclusive World Masters Table Tennis Championships ever, exemplifying the ITTF’s commitment to making the sport accessible to all.

    From 7 to 14 July, Stupa will provide live streaming of the matches on ITTF’s YouTube channel. They will set up cameras on 11 tables to showcase all categories.     Sony Sports Network acquires exclusive television rights for Major League Cricket 2024 in India

    Mumbai: Culver Max Entertainment Private Ltd, who owns and operates Sony Sports Network, the leading sports broadcaster in India, is delighted to announce the acquisition of exclusive television rights for T20 cricket spectacle Major League Cricket (MLC) for one year in India. The second edition of the league will kickstart with reigning champions MI New York facing Seattle Orcas in the opener at Church Street Park, Morrisville and will be live telecast in India 6 July 2024. The grand finale of the tournament will be played at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas and will be live telecast in India on 29 July 2024.

    A major share from the ongoing cricket revolution in the United States can be attributed to MLC, which has attracted eyeballs of India’s evergreen cricket fraternity. The participation from Indian cricket franchises Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings brings a whole new level of excitement for fans of the respective teams. Some of the most popular cricketers including Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran are expected to feature in the upcoming edition of the league.

    The MLC’s second season features an all-star lineup of announcers, including the former captain of the Indian national cricket team and great batsman Sunil Gavaskar, Pakistani legendary bowler Wasim Akram, former New Zealand and Auckland cricketer Danny Morrison, alongside Daren Ganga, Pommie Mbangwa, Matthew Hayden, Chris Morris, Natalie Germanos, Scott Styris, and Mike Haysmen.

    The inaugural edition of MLC attained critical success with six teams participating i.e. San Francisco Unicorns, Washington Freedom, Texas Super Kings, Seattle Orcas, Los Angeles Knight Riders and MI New York. Team MI New York was crowned champions after they defeated Seattle Orcas in the final played at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. Nicholas Pooran, who featured for the champions, registered 388 runs and was adjudged the Player of the Season last year.

    With the acquisition of television rights for Major League Cricket, Sony Sports Network has asserted its solid footprint in broadcasting cricket properties.     Mumbai: Tasva, the men’s Indian wear brand by Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. and celebrated designer Tarun Tahiliani has taken on the prestigious task of designing the ceremonial dress for Team India at the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. The minister of youth affairs and sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, unveiled the official ceremonial Dress for Team India in the presence of Indian Olympics Association President, Dr PT Usha.

    Tasva is all set to bring to Paris, the fashion capital of the world, its fresh take on Indian traditional wear. The ceremonial attire draws inspiration from the rich cultural tapestry of India and embraces a patriotic spirit reflected in the iconic tricolour palette of saffron, green, and white.

    “We’re incredibly honoured to dress Team India,” Tasva chief design officer Tarun Tahiliani shared at the Kit Unveiling ceremony. “We worked closely with the Indian Olympic Association to create an attire that tells a story about India. The garments are designed to be visually captivating while also ensuring comfort and practicality. As our athletes make their grand entrance on a barge along the Seine for the opening ceremony, the airy, lightweight attire is perfectly suited for the summer warmth of Paris in July.”

    “We want our athletes to walk out on the global stage feeling like they are ambassadors of Indian culture and heritage,” Tahiliani continued. “This is our dream — to see our traditions celebrated and honoured around the world.”

    At the opening ceremony, Team India’s male athletes will wear a kurta bundi set while the female athletes will don an elegant saree with ikat-inspired digitally printed panels in saffron and green, blue buttonholes representing the Ashoka Chakra, with an ivory base which represents peace and unity. The look is completed with modern trainers adorned with traditional Benares brocade, seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary fashion.

    Tarun Tahiliani added, “This ceremonial dress beautifully combines classic Indian style with a modern, athletic touch. The kurta bundi set is crafted from lightweight moss cotton, ensuring breathability and comfort. The saree, a symbol of grace and cultural identity, is reimagined in viscose crepe for a natural drape and breathability, ensuring our athletes feel both elegant and comfortable.”

    Sharath Kamal, who leads the Olympic Men’s Table Tennis team and the flag bearer of Team India at the Paris Olympics expressed, “Putting on this ceremonial dress was a powerful experience. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and connection to our heritage. The lightweight fabric just makes it ideal for the occasion.”

The tournament, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 3 July to 25 August, will unite the global gaming communities and deliver premier competition in a unique format at an unprecedented scale. Over eight weeks, the EWC will feature the world’s top Esports clubs competing in 21 of the most popular game titles, making it the largest multi-game Esports tournament ever. As the official broadcaster, Star Sports is set to deliver comprehensive coverage of the tournament, offering viewers and fans an unparalleled Esports experience with in-depth commentary in English and Hindi. The Esports World Cup will be streamed on Star Sports’ YouTube channel and broadcast on linear TV via Star Sports First and Star Sports 2.

    In 2022, BGMI Masters became the first Esports franchise to be broadcast in India by the Star Sports Network, drawing in millions of viewers over its linear television debut. This will be the first-ever e-sports world cup with a prize pool of more than $60 million (Rs 500 crore)

    The eight games to be broadcasted on Star Sports Network are Call of Duty: Warzone, Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, Fortnite, EA Sports FC 24, and PUBG Battlegrounds.

    Specific highlights include:
