    Asianet ropes in 11 sponsors for 17th Aisanet Film Awards

    BENGALURU: Star Network’s Malayalam GEC offering Asianet has roped in at least eleven sponsors for the seventeenth edition of Asianet Film awards 2015.

     

    The on-ground event was held at Willington Island, Kochi on 11 January, 2015. Ujala Washing Powder is the branding sponsor, the event has been powered by Nirapara and co-presented by Swarnam Nalleanna and Muthoot Mini. Co-sponsors include Henko, Exo, Maxo, Bhima Jewellers, Joy Alukkas, Josco Jewellers and Libero.

     

    Asianet Film Awards will be aired in two installments on Saturday, 24 January and Sunday, 25 January at 7 pm. The channel claims that the live show was witnessed by a crowd of about 20,000.

     

    Among the notable events during the awards included felicitation of South Indian male icon Mohanlal by Manmooty and Asianet managing director K Madahan. South Indian actor Mukesh was honoured for the 33 years in the film industry in various language films.

     

    ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’ won the award for the best film, which was accepted by its producer Fahad Fazil and director Amal Neerad. Anjali Menon won the award for the best director for the movie ‘Bangalore Days’. Mammootty won the best actor award for his role in ‘Varsham’ and  Manju Warrier won the best female actress for the film ‘How old are you’. Biju Menon and Nazriya Nazim were at hand to collect the popular actor’s award. ‘Bangalore Days’ won the award for the best popular film.

     

    Others who won awards include Jayasurya (Best actor in negative role), Haricharan (best male singer), Swetha Mohan (best female singer), Asha Sarath (best character artiste-female), Anoop Menon (best character artiste-male), Suraj Venjaramoodu (best actor in a comic role) and Vineeth Sreenivasan-Namitha Pramod (best star couple).

     

    On the other hand, awards were also handed out to Rafeeq Ahammed (lyricist), Gopi Sundar (music director), Amritha Anil (child artiste), Gopan Chithambaram (Script Writer), Amal Neerad (cameraman), debut artistes Farhan Fazil and Nikki Galrani, Parvathy (best supporting actress), Tini Tom (best supporting actor), Bina Paul (best editor), Fahad Fazil (Performer of the year), Dulquer Salman (Star of the year), Jayaram (Asianet Golden Star award) and Lal & director Venu (Special Jury awards).

    KOLKATA: Star Entertainment Media’s Bengali general entertainment channel (GEC) Star Jalsha began airing yet another Chalo Paltai show– with real stories, real people and relevant setting Mon Niye Kachha Kachhi from 12 January at 10.30 pm. 

     

    It should be noted that Kanamachi, which was being telecast at 10:30 pm until now, has been rescheduled at 11 pm from 12 January onwards.

     

    Mon Niye Kachha Kachhi is a story about how three incomplete individuals find happiness and love in each others’ company and create a fulfilled complete family. The story is a reflection of modern day relationships and their twists and turns. 

     

    The cast comprises Basabdatta Chatterjee, Tathagata Mukherjee, Rimjhim Mitra and Shreedhatri.

     

    Mon Niye Kachha Kachhi is produced by SVF, which has to its kitty shows like Maa, Bojhena Shey Bojhena, Behula, Durga and Bodhu Kon Alo

     

    The music track has been composed by Indradeep Dasgupta and the title song has been sung by Shaan.

    MUMBAI: Endemol India produced Lagori has completed 300 episodes on Star Pravaah with an explosive episode. The successful show which airs on Star Pravah every Monday to Friday at 9pm, has recently been named the Best Serial of the year at the Viewer’s choice MMW Gaurav awards, with popular actress Anuja Sathe-Gokhale who reprises the role of Urmila being named as Best Actress in the viewer’s choice television category.     MUMBAI: At the recently held 17th Asianet Film Awards, southern star Mammootty was judged as the best actor, for his performance in the film Varsham. On the other hand, actress Manju Warrier was declared as the best actress for her comeback film titled How Old Are You. While Amal Neerad’s Iyobinte Pusthakam walked away with the award for the best film, Anjali Menon received the award for the best director. The most popular film award was handed over for the multi-starrer, Bangalore Days.

    The award show had brands like Ujala and Nirapara as powered by sponsors. Jayasurya won the award for the best actor in a villain role. Suraj Venjarammoodu won the best comedian award.  The best script writer award was handed over to Gopan Chidambaram and Beena Paul won the award for best editing.

    In the music category, Gopi Sundar was declared as the best music director for the year while Rafeeq Ahammed was presented the award for best lyricist. Haricharan was presented the award as the best male playback singer. His female counterpart, Shweta Mohan was adjudged as the best female playback singer. The best new face award was granted to Nikki Galrani.
    The award gala for the Malayalam entertainment industry was held at the Kochi Port Trust Stadium and the event witnessed the presence of big names from the industry.

    Aakash Aath to celebrate ‘Poush Utsav’ starting 11 January

    KOLKATA: As West Bengal gears up for ‘Poush Mela’ , an annual fair and festival that takes place in Santiniketan, to mark the arrival of harvest season, Aakash Aath, a Bengali general entertainment channel (GEC), plans to celebrate ‘Poush Utsav’.

    The week long festivities will commence from 11 January with 2-hours live show ‘Good Morning Aakash’, which is aired from 7 am to 9 am.

     

    “We always look at introducing new elements to make the shows more interesting and enthralling for viewers,” said Aakash Aath director Eshita Surana.

    On 11 January, the channel will air ‘Mul Gaan Bhanga Gaan’ (Twisted Original Songs) by Ridhi Banerjee and on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birthday i.e. 12 January, it is looking at airing a special show.

     

    The channel has planned to get famous artists for special programming slot. “It’s a show which has a live artist or artists singing songs with a lot of interaction with an anchor,” she added.

     

    Other artists like Probhati Mukhopadhyay, Saikat Mitra and folk singer Swapan Basu have also been approached to sing through the week, it is learnt.

     

    The channel had earlier organised ‘Band Festival’ for four days from 25 December which saw bands like ‘Udaan’, ‘Cactus’, ‘Sahajiya’ and ‘Taseer’ performing for the viewers.

    KOLKATA: Come 2015 and Sarthak TV from the Odisha-based Sarthak Entertainment Group, is all set to launch a reality show, ‘Nua Geeta Nua Swara’ (NGNS), starting 5 January every Monday and Tuesday for one hour.

    “This is a unique televised singing talent hunt where the participants will be performing on a virgin composition which has never been recorded anywhere for any public listening. The concept has not yet been explored by any other channel across the country,” said Sarthak Entertainment Group marketing manager Debi Prasad Padhi.

    For pre-auditions and audition phases, the team of NGNS will travel to different districts of the state to handpick the budding hidden talents of Odisha and groom them to become professionals by the end of the show. “Contestants would be undergoing through the pre-auditions round where their vocal ability and their composition (own/new) will be judged by two affluent persons from the music industry of Ollywood,” informed Padhi.

    Those who successfully cross pre-auditions, will face the three main judges in the audition round and on successful completion of this, the contestant will move to the next level where they will sing with instruments, further explained Padhi.

    For the mega audition, only a few handpicked talents will be given a chance to perform to prove themselves, thus winning the title.

    The show will have close to 40-50 episodes.

    On the unique selling proposition (USP) of the programme, he said, “This show will witness the freshness of the new lyrics, new composition and a new voice.”
     
    Radhakanta Mishra would be the judge and anchor during pre-auditions while the auditions will be judged by music directors Manmath Mishra and Bikash Das.

    Apart from this, renowned Ollywood film personalities, serial stars and famous singers will also appear as guests on the reality programme.

    In four years since its inception, Sarthak TV has launched Odiya mega serials along with reality shows like ‘Rajo Queen’, ‘Gruha Laxmi’ and many more to appeal to the tastes of Odiya viewers.

    BSE seeks clarification from Sun TV

    MUMBAI: It was on 26 December when Sun Group COO C Praveen was arrested by the Chennai crime branch, after a former employee of the network filed a harassment complaint against him.

     

    Praveen has been booked under Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Sexual Harassment of Women Act, as he was, as per media reports, allegedly harassing the woman for the past two years.

     

    While several publications carried the news, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on 29 December issued a notice asking Sun Network to clarify the news item published in Business Standard.

     

    The notice reads: “The Exchange has sought clarification from Sun TV Network Ltd with respect to news article appearing in Business Standard on 27 December 2014 titled “Top official of Sun Network arrested.”

     

    The reply is awaited, the BSE notice further says.

     

    The complainant, who held a senior position in the programming section of Surya TV, a Malayalam channel from the Sun stable, as per reports, had quit her job five months ago.
