    Big Magic Ganga preps for 4th season of ‘Rasoi Ki Rani’

    MUMBAI: Big Magic Ganga, the regional channel from the Reliance Broadcast Network Limited (RBNL) stable, is coming up with the fourth season of its show Rasoi Ki Rani – Jeetein Sitaron Ka Dil.

     

    The show is a search for the greatest chef at home who can deliver an experience of the most authentic regional cuisine for celebrity guests. Ripudaman Handa, winner of MasterChef – Kitchen Ke Superstar will host the show, which will also include celebrity walk-in guests.

     

    An extensive 90 day audition phase will be held to select the best candidates. Women from 16 cities of UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and New Delhi will participate in this reality show. The show consists of three rounds – Interactive Game, Masala Muqabla and Jaika E Bahar. A total of 18 women will be chosen as part of the audition process, out of which four will reach the grand finale.

    Zee Bangla launches new detective fiction show – ‘Goyenda Ginni’

    MUMBAI: Zee Bangla is all set to launch a new fiction show called Goyenda Ginni, which celebrates the unveiling of brilliance and practical intelligence that a woman embodies.

     

    Goyenda Ginni revolves around Paroma, a regular housewife who unleashes her innate qualities to become a lady detective.

     

    Over the years, iconic characters of Sherlock Holmes, Byomkesh Bakshi and Feluda have fascinated readers and viewers alike. However, the idea of the female detective as being unusual still persists in literary and cinematic treatments. Goyenda Ginni is a unique concept of Paroma who leads a dual life of a housewife and a detective.

     

    The show will have weekly short stories of cases which Paroma will solve. The story is high on woman power, which will inspire women from all walks of life to explore their inner talent and turn it into their strengths.

     

    Goyenda Ginni marks the return of Indrani Halder (Paroma) after seven long years as protagonist on the small screen. Haldar has previously worked as the lead in the Hindi TV series Sujata. The other cast includes Saheb Chatterjee (Dr. Porimal Mitra, Paroma’s husband) and Indrajit Bose (Arup, the cop).

     

    Goyenda Ginni is slated to go on air on 7 September. The show will be aired from Monday to Saturday at 7:30 pm.

    Star Jalsha strengthens non-fiction offering with 3 new shows

    MUMBAI: Bengali general entertainment channel (GEC) from the Star India stable, Star Jalsha is increasing its original content offering in the non-fiction space. The channel will soon be launching an array of non-fiction shows catering to its Sunday audience. The shows are: Ebar Jalsha Rannaghore, Amra Na Ora and another as yet untitled show.

     

    Ebar Jalsha Rannaghore is a 60 minutes format for the festive season. It will showcase recipes and fashion trends, where designers and stylists will give makeovers to actors starring in Jalsha shows as well as comprise unplugged solo performances by top singers of Bengal. There will be special episodes with celebrities from tinsel town providing entertainment to viewers.

     

    Star Jalsha’s Amra Na Ora is a game show based on UK’s Push the Button. The show will be produced by FremantleMedia. The channel will also launch another big ticket non-fiction show, this quarter, the name for which is yet to be decided.

     

    The three new shows are in addition to the non-fiction programmes launched by the channel in May, this year. The three shows were: Ebar Jalsha Rannaghare, a cookery show; Bhyabachaka, a celebrity game show and I Laugh U 3, a laughter and entertainment programme.

     

    A Star India spokesperson said, “It has been our constant endeavour to provide wholesome and differentiated entertainment for the entire family. We were always dominating the fiction space and now with the new non-fiction shows we have just made our offering even more varied and entertaining. The results are encouraging to say the least.”

     

    “The successful non-fiction shows along with the extended fiction have made Jalsha a new destination for viewers on Sundays. Our recent success in non-fiction has made us even more committed to it and we have decided to come up with an array of new non-fictions that I am sure will go on to create new benchmarks in BGE,” the spokesperson added.

    NEW DELHI: The reality show Big Memsaab, aimed at exploring the hidden talent of women in Bihar and Jharkhand, has commenced its sixth season on Big Magic Ganga with extensive marketing.

     

    The show is telecast every weekend from 8 – 9 pm. Apart from 92.7 Big FM and Big Magic, the activity will be promoted across through on-ground activation, OOH, print, digital and cinema. Brands that have associated with Big Memsaab season 6 are Xpert, Horlicks, Parle Top Spin, Mohini Tea, Catch Salt and Spices, Dabur, Senco, Vasmol and 92.7 Big FM, amongst others.

     

    The show has celebrities Madhu Sharma and Rashmi Desai as judges, whereas Vinay Anand is the host.

     

    The trio were part of a gala opening ceremony in Noida, where the sixth season is currently being shot for Big Magic Ganga.

    Auditions for Big Memsaab season 6 saw the highest turnout in the region. They were held in 12 key markets, which started in Kolkata and followed with Kanpur, Allahabad, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Varanasi, Dhanbad, Gorakhpur, Bhagalpur, Patna, Muzzafarpur and Darbhanga. Following the auditions, 35 contestants were shortlisted for the finals, who will now compete for the title of Big Memsaab season 6.

    MUMBAI: The OTT acceleration in India is rapidly getting recognition from film and television companies. After collaborating with the likes of Yash Raj Films and Shemaroo Entertainment, OTT player HOOQ has now joined hands with top South Indian broadcaster Sun TV in a multi-year deal.

    HOOQ will carry Sun TV’s library that includes a mix of super hit films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages. 

    Sun TV group CEO S L Narayanan said, “We are excited about the possibilities arising out of our association with HOOQ, a digital distribution platform of impeccable lineage. Sun TV holds a large library of blockbusters and timeless classics with enduring appeal.”

    “Sun TV Network’s extensive library with titles from Tamil to Malayalam will help us ensure we have something for everyone in India. More importantly, we want our customers to continue to enjoy the largest and best catalogue of Hollywood and Indian content of any service available today,” added HOOQ CEO Peter Bithos.

    It may be recalled that Asian OTT player HOOQ recently set shop in India with over 30,000 hours  of movies and TV series.

    MUMBAI: Media Worldwide is all set to launch a new Marathi music channels called Sangeet Marathi in September 2015. The channel launch is part of the company’s expansion plan for the coming year.

     

    This will be the company’s fourth music channel after Music India (Hindi), Sangeet Bangla and Sangeet Bhojpuri. Beginning with Sangeet Marathi, the company also plans to launch a number of music channels for the Indian audience in the future.

     

    Media Worldwide has roped in Deepak Dewoolkar as the chief creative director of Sangeet Marathi.

     

    Dewoolkar, who enjoys a large fan base and is a very well known name and face in the Marathi cinema, has played the lead part in blockbuster Marathi movies like Vaat Pahte Punvechi,JanmadaataPratidavNavra Majya Muthit Ga and Maza Saubhagya among 70 other films and in more than 40 Hindi TV series like Krishna and Jahan Pe Basera Ho amongst others. He has also been a part of Marathi television series like Damini and Lek Ladki Ya Gharchi. He has also been part of few Hindi movies and prominent Marathi dramas like Lagna and Kaal Chakra.

     

    In addition to being an actor, Dewoolkar is also a popular director and filmmaker with 14 films to his credit. His involvement with the Marathi entertainment industry has spanned more than 25 years. Dewolkar is also the recipient of Mama Varerkar Award for the Marathi play, Lagna.

     

    Through his association with movies and performing arts, Dewoolkar’s unmatched understanding of the Marathi music industry will help Sangeet Marathi expand the music horizons outside of film music.

    SC stays ED proceedings in Aircel-Maxis case to attach Sun TV assets

    NEW DELHI: For the second time within a month, the Supreme Court has come to the rescue of the beleaguered Sun TV group owned by the Maran brothers.

     

    Earlier on 26 July, the apex Court had permitted the FM channels associated with the group to take part in the e-auctions that commenced on 27 July.

     

    The SC today stayed the attachment proceedings before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Adjudicating Authority against Sun TV assets of the Maran brothers in the Aircel-Maxis case.

     

    The Court, however, said the provisional attachment order issued by the ED would stay alive even if the 180-day period for confirming the attachment order is over.

     

    ED had ordered provisional attachment of assets of Sun TV worth Rs 742 crore allegedly linked to the Aircel-Maxis deal. The attachment order was under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

     

    Sun TV had approached the Supreme Court against a Madras High Court order refusing to hear their plea against the provisional attachment on the grounds that the case was linked to the 2G spectrum scam, which is already pending before the bench headed by the Chief Justice of the apex court.

Likewise, to revive the forgotten melodies of Onam, Amrita TV is airing a reality show of Onam songs, “Onam Melam (Aug 19-28,8.30 pm) with composer M.Jayachandran and singer Ranjini Jose as judges.     MUMBAI: Malayala Manorama Group’s television network MMTV has launched the High Definition (HD) version of its Malayalam entertainment channel Mazhavil Manorama.

     

    With this, launch, MMTV now has a bouquet of four channels namely Manorama News, Mazhavil Manorama, Mazhavil Manorama HD and Mazhavil International for the Gulf region.

     

    With a strong content mix, Mazhavil Manorama HD’s FPC will currently be the same as the Standard Definition (SD) channel comprising reality shows, weekend mix, soaps.

    MUMBAI: Asianet, the first Malayalam satellite TV channel, has launched a high definition version of the channel – Asianet HD.

     

    This is the first HD channel in Malayalam, which went live on 13 August, 2015.

     

    With 20 plus years of experience in visual media, Asianet Communications has created a new history by opening the high definition visual quality and Dolby 5.1 sound quality to viewers.

     

    The HD channel will include movies, serials, reality shows and other entertainment programmes.
