    Sun TV to air Nandini on four GEC channels

    MUMBAI: Sun TV Network is set to launch its magnum opus fiction Nandini on all its four south Indian GEC channels, namely — Sun TV, Gemini TV, Udaya TV and Surya TV from 23 January.

    The show is scheduled from Monday – Friday at 8.30 pm time band for Udaya TV while the similar show will be aired at 9pm time slot from Monday to Saturday on Sun TV. On Gemini TV it will aired from Monday to Saturday at 9pm and Monday to Friday on Surya TV.

    Produced and presented by the acclaimed Tamil film director Sundar. C Nandini is a supernatural fiction series.

    Nandini boasts of high end graphics and big scale production values that is sure to provide the viewers a wholesome entertainment.

    The story narrates the life of a family whose life is intertwined by supernatural species.

    The star cast includes Vijayakumar, Nithya Ram, Malavika, Ramesh Pandit, Gayathri Jayaram, Narasinha Raju to name a few.

    Family drama ‘Radha Ramana’ to replace s4 of Bigg Boss Kannada

    BENGALURU: As season 4 of Bigg Boss Kannada draws to finale on 15 January, Viacom 18’s Kannada GEC Colors Kannada has lined up a bitter-sweet tale about a brother and sister to replace the Endemol Shine India game show. Titled Radha Ramana, initially the soap will run for 1 hour from 16 January until January 30.

    The length of the serial, 15 episodes of which have been canned, has not been decided as of now say sources at the channel. Colors Kannada has roped in Godrej’s repellent brand Good Knight as the powered by sponsor.

    The GEC has been promoting the Bengaluru filmed show to viewers in multiple ways that include through promos, by integrating its characters with two of its popular family shows Kulavadhu and Agnishakshi, among others. The promotions include cross-channel ads on Kannada news channels one week prior to the launch, magazine, newspaper and radio ads, bus branding in Bengaluru and hoardings in rest of Karnataka.

    A release from the channel describes the new series – ‘Radha Ramana captures the emotional journey of two pairs of siblings, Raman and Anvitha, and Aditya and Aradhana. The story revolves around Raman and his love for his sister, Anvitha who is the apple of his eye. The show will see Shwetha Pradeep (Aradhana) and Skandha (Ramana) playing the leads and is produced by Neela Production’. Radha Ramna is being directed by Shiva Poojena Agrahara.

    Malayalam KBC ‘Ningalkkum Aakam Kodeeswaran’ S4 on Asianet

    BENGALURU: Star India’s Malayalam GEC Asianet is all set to start airing season 4 of the Malayalam version of the popular game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire? or Ningalkkum Aakam Kodeeswaran (NAK) from 9 January 2016 onward at the 930 pm primetime slot from Monday to Thursday. The one hour show will be anchored once again by Mollywood anchor Suresh Gopi. Asianet and Big Synergy Media Limited are the show producers.

    NAK replaces two thirty minute fiction shows Kavacham and Vellanakalude Nadu. The channel has roped in Nestle India Limited’s coated wafer brand Munch as title sponsor and is powered by Vivo phones. NAK season 4 will be co-presented by realty player Asset Homes; Jewellery brands Josco, Chungath; and Ayurmix.

    The game show will test the competence of the participants in general knowledge, current affairs and all the major fields of knowledge. The preliminary round had participants vying for opportunity to attend the phone-in, written test and interview. The finalists can join the anchor in the hot seat and try their luck in the 15 rounds of the game. Like last year, the prize money for a contestant who successfully answers all the 15 questions is Rs one crore.

    The finalists play a ‘Fastest Finger First’ round to make it to the main game. From there on, they play rounds with increasing levels of difficulty, and winning higher amounts of money, culminating in the Rs one crore prize. Contestants can stop at any time after having viewed the next question.

    MUMBAI: Giving competition to Discovery Channel, Prashant Chothani-promoted travel and lifestyle channel, travelxp, is all set to take southern India by storm with the launch of its new channel in Tamil. The channel’s soft launch is scheduled for 13 December. It’s availability on various distribution platforms will be unveiled post its launch.

    The aim of the channel is to connect with the regional audience and broaden the audience base that travelxp already enjoys.

    “We are launching a new channel focussed on the Tamil audience across all age-groups. South India has vast tourist spots which are famous both, nationally and internationally, with some places that are yet to be explored. Our channel will highlight everything — from food to travel to leisure, etc. and will showcase it to the world. ”

    The channel will have original localised Tamil content as well as dubbed shows from travelxp’s existing bouquet. In a year’s time, the channel plans to have a 60:40 ratio of acquired/dubbed as to homegrown content in Tamil language.

    After launching a Bengali version in April this year, travelxp’s Tamil will also explore and travel to new places, finding new cultures and destinations, knowing about different food tastes. The channel’s team would shoot different episodes with various families in their own drawing room.

    The Bengali feed has a line-up of marquee shows such as Bliss, World Spa, Backpack, Great World Hotels, Strictly Street, xp guide, and Food Fact Fun, etc.

    The much awaited 4K rollout of travelxp meantime is also set to launch before it’s speculated time in February 2017. The launch will happen across all the markets.

    Chothani has invested around US$ 2 million in producing his shows in 4K over the past year or so. Using 4K technology, the shows have already produced 100 hours of travel content in UHD and need another 50 hours of content to launch a full-fledged 4K channel.

    The channel has expanded its international footprint by launching in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi and Rwanda by tying up with Africa’s AzamTV network. The channel is already available in North America, Middle East and the Indian subcontinent.

    Travelxp is currently available on DTH platforms — Tata Sky, Dish TV, Videocon d2h and Airtel, and leading cable networks like Hathway Cable & Datacom, InCable, Siti Cable, GTPL and UCN.

    Sun TV security clearance review sought; two channels’ cancellation stayed

    NEW DELHI: A review has been sought by the information and broadcasting ministry from the home ministry about security clearance to Sun TV Network Ltd in view of the amended guidelines of that ministry. Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu told the Parliament yesterday that no reply had been received so far from the home ministry.

    However, he said renewal of permission has been granted to the channels which have been given security clearance. Of the 33 TV channels of M/s Sun TV Network Ltd., four TV channels are due for renewal of permission after 10 years. To a question, he said no case was pending in any court against any of the 33 channels.

    Naidu said in reply to a question that the Ministry had issued show-cause notices to nine companies having 26 TV channels after denial of security clearance by MHA.

    These include six channels of Positive TV Private Ltd, five channels of Mahua Media Pvt Ltd, four channels of Maa Television,four channels of STV Enterprises Ltd; two channels of Lemon Entertainment Ltd, Permission was cancelled in all these cases. One channel each of Indira TV Ltd, Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd, and Lamhas Entertainment Ltd were refused permission but the ministry is considering their replies.

    Meanwhile, the cancellation of two channels of Entertainment Television Network Pvt. Ltd was challenged in court of law, and has been stayed.

    The Minister said in reply to another question that the Ministry was not aware of any such other seven similarly placed companies having 23 TV channels.
