    BENGALURU: Star India’s Malayalam GEC offering’s 19th edition of its annual film awards function (Asianet Film Awards 2017) was held recently at Cochin. The event will be aired next weekend over two days– Saturday 11 February and Sunday 12 February at 630 PM. The broadcaster has roped in 15 on ground and on air sponsor for the event.

    These include Presenting sponsor -Vivo, Title sponsor- Nirapara, Powered by sponsors Asten Realtors and Josco Jewellers. Associate sponsors include Gateway Beaumonds, Popees, Gonexa Mattress, Yamaha, Bhima Jewellers, Chungathu Jewellery, Nerolac Excel Total. Costume Partner for the event is Swayamvara Silks.

    The channel says that ten thousand people attended the ground event. Several prominent persons from the film industry and socio-cultural spheres were present on the occasion. The event was also attended by cross section of stars from the south Indian film industry and there were colourful programmes performed by leading Malayalam artistes along with a mix of stars from Tollywood and Bollywood. Malayalam film superstar Mohanl Lal’s live action sequences based on his super hit movie Pulimurugan and Nivin Pauly’s magical performances were the main attractions of the ground event.

    New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh / Uttarakhand, the leading news channel of UP & Uttarakhand, saw several changes being implemented over the past few weeks as part of the channel’s refresh. Several new shows were launched and prominent anchors were introduced on the channel. The channel’s packaging was completely overhauled to add energy and vibrancy to the screen. Overall the singular objective of the refresh that culminated on January 30th was to provide viewers with an enhanced and unmatched experience in terms of content, formats and presentation.

    The first primetime show to be launched on the channel as part of the current exercise was Pradesh Prime at 7 PM. The show is hosted by Preeti Raghunandan (Mon-Fri) and is a fast paced bulletin that captures all critical news from across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to ensure that viewers stay abreast of all key developments that have a direct impact on them. Kah Kar Hi Maanenge (Mon-Fri), a discussion show focusing on getting to the nub of key issues and stories at 8 PM, is anchored by renowned journalist Prateek Trivedi. Adding to the power packed line-up, a new debate show, Takkar was also launched on 30th January. The daily show hosted by the firebrand anchor Amish Devgan from Monday to Friday will ask tough questions and will hold those in positions of influence and responsibility accountable.

Nicknamed ‘Olle Huduga’ (Good Boy) Pratham, stayed true to the name. Coming a long way, Pratham managed to not only win the title of this season’s Bigg Boss Kannada, but has touched the hearts of millions across the country through this noble gesture. Viacon 18’s Kannada GEC Colors Kannada, the channel that aired season 4 of the popular show says that despite being a common-man amongst a host of celebrated personalities from the Kannada industry, Pratham didn’t lose hope and pursued to follow his aspirations to emerge victorious after four gruelling months.     MUMBAI: Some stories are not bound by the chains of language, boundaries or emotions. They resonate with all those who understand the invaluable right to Freedom. Bringing to audience in Bengal, Colors Bangla announces the launch of ‘Resham Jhanpi’, the Bengali adaptation of the critically acclaimed show on Colors, Udaan. Narrating the tale of Titli, a free-spirited kid whose existence is pawned by her helpless and poverty-stricken desperate family when in her mother’s womb, as collateral for money. Conceptualised by ace director Mahesh Bhatt, Resham Jhanpi marks the journey of seven-year-old Titli as she rises like a phoenix towards her dreams to showcase a mind without fear. Produced by Vandana Films the show is set to go on air from 13 February every Monday to Saturday at 8.30 pm.

Unaware of the circumstances which have led to her being wagered, Titli experiences a gamut of emotions as she struggles to take wings and find her rightful place under the sun.

Titli’s journey of her struggles in life, her tryst with fate and her victory over the most difficult circumstances, will inspire everyone.     Resham Jhanpi brings together power-packed performances by a strong ensemble cast who will be instrumental in the life of lead actor Titli (Smriti Singh). The initial episodes of the show will focus on Titli’s relationship with her warmhearted mother Padma (Anushua Mukherjee), her weak and under-confident father Bhubon (Rajesh Chatterjee) and her strong willed younger sister and playmate Bulbuli (Anushka). As Titli’s life reaches crossroads at the tender age of seven, she moves into the home of the cruel and short-tempered MP Dayal Chand Thakur (Sandip Dey) and his shrewd authoritarian wife Maa Thakurun Rajeshwari (June Maliah).     MUMBAI: The Bangladesh High Court has paved the way for continuance of running telecast of three Indian channels — Star Plus , Zee Bangla and Star Jalsha in the country. T
    he court rejected a writ petition that sought ban on the broadcast of the three Indian television channels.

    The petitioner’s lawyer then said his client would appeal before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court against the HC verdict.

    A high court bench comprising Justice JBM Hassan and Justice MMI Chowdhury passed the judgement, deputy attorney general Motahar Hossain Sazu told Bangladeshi media. Sazu said that the court rejected the petition stating that it was not acceptable as the petitioner did not lodge a complaint with the competent authorities against the channels.

    Any person is permitted to lodge a complaint with the Bangladesh Television director-general and the information secretary against any channel under the relevant rules if one is aggrieved,.

    On 7 August, 2014, Syeda Shahin Ara Laily, a Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyer, filed a PIL (public interest litigation) seeking to halt the operation of the channels arguing that they were adversely impacting Bangladesh’s cultural and social life.

    In her writ, the petitioner also observed that the operation of the Indian channels need to be banned as Bangladeshi channels were not permitted in India.

  • Sun TV to air Nandini on four GEC channels

    Sun TV to air Nandini on four GEC channels

    MUMBAI: Sun TV Network is set to launch its magnum opus fiction Nandini on all its four south Indian GEC channels, namely — Sun TV, Gemini TV, Udaya TV and Surya TV from 23 January.

    The show is scheduled from Monday – Friday at 8.30 pm time band for Udaya TV while the similar show will be aired at 9pm time slot from Monday to Saturday on Sun TV. On Gemini TV it will aired from Monday to Saturday at 9pm and Monday to Friday on Surya TV.

    Produced and presented by the acclaimed Tamil film director Sundar. C Nandini is a supernatural fiction series.

    Nandini boasts of high end graphics and big scale production values that is sure to provide the viewers a wholesome entertainment.

    The story narrates the life of a family whose life is intertwined by supernatural species.

    The star cast includes Vijayakumar, Nithya Ram, Malavika, Ramesh Pandit, Gayathri Jayaram, Narasinha Raju to name a few.
