    TV9 Bangla announces mega Telethon to celebrate Bangaliana on 6 Feb

    Mumbai: TV9 Bangla is set to hold its landmark programme “Bangaliana Telethon” to celebrate the channel’s first anniversary. The programme will be aired LIVE on 6 February (Sunday) 2pm onwards.

    The telethon will celebrate the achievements of Bengalis across the globe as well as conduct candid discussions on their glorious past and present. There will be a freewheeling discussion in which eminent, and accomplished Bengalis in various fields such as literature, culture, music, films, theatre, politics, business, industry, and women empowerment will participate.

    Hosted by the TV9 Network’s CEO Barun Das, this telethon will be co-hosted by celebrities such as filmmaker Gautam Ghosh and actors Arpita Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya and Ritabhari Chakraborty.

    The discussion will begin with broad- spectrum sessions divided into 11 segments on the significance of the past of the Bengalis, where they stand now and what is the way forward. The Bengal Renaissance, the period of awakening and arguably the golden period of achievements of Bengalis, would be a reference point of the discussions and how the race surged ahead to lead the nation in virtually all aspects of public life and creativity, the channel said in a a statement.

    Mumbai: Colors Tamil will air the movie “Anbulla Ghilli” on 6 February at 7 p.m.

    Directed by Srinath Ramalingam, the film features a stellar cast including Dushara Vijayan, Chandni Tamilarasan, Mime Gopi, Mayilsamy, Poo Ramu, Illavarasan and debutante Maithreya Rajeshsekar. Actor-comedian Soori has voiced the character Anbulla Ghilli who is played by Amigo the dog.

    Set in the picturesque backdrop of Kodaikanal, the film traces the life of Ramu and Ghilli who grow up together and are true partners in crime.

    Mumbai: Zee Ganga, the Bhojpuri GEC of Bihar, Jharkhand and Purvanchal region has added a new milestone to its journey. Within just a week of its launch, the latest season of its marquee talent-based non-scripted reality show “Memsaab No 1” has catapulted the channel into pole position in the primetime slot. 

    In the third week of 2022, the channel witnessed significant growth in viewership during the 6-7 p.m time-band. In its opening week of the show itself, the growth recorded in the time-band is 73 per cent over the last eight weeks (Source: Barc, BJ 2+, U+R Wk 47’21-Wk 03’22). In terms of the overall reach, the channel has also witnessed 36 per cent growth in its reach in the third week as compared to the last eight weeks (Source: Barc, BJ 2+, U+R Wk 47’21-Wk 03’22).

    Filled with high-octane drama, the show, in the span of a few weeks has enthralled audiences by going beyond old formats to present Bhojpuri entertainment’s very-first non-scripted reality show.     Malayalam channel MediaOne goes off air as MIB revokes permission

    Mumbai: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) on Monday revoked the permission granted to Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd to uplink and downlink the Malayalam news channel MediaOne citing security concerns.

    The MIB granted permission to the MediaOne channel to be aired on 30 September 2011 which was valid up till 29 September 2021. According to the ministry order, clause 9.2 of the uplinking guidelines stipulates that security clearance of a company and its directors is a prerequisite condition for grant of permission for TV channels which is up for renewal every ten years.

    Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd which had applied for renewal of permission on 3 May 2021 was denied security clearance by the ministry of home affairs. In response to a show-cause notice sent by MIB, the company mentioned that they are “unaware of the grounds for denial of security clearance.”

    On its social media handles, MediaOne has put out a statement attributed to its editor Pramod Raman. It reads, “MediaOne telecast has once again been disallowed by the ministry of information and broadcasting, government of India, citing security reasons. The government has not been forthcoming with the details.”

    It added “MediaOne is taking urgent legal steps for the restoration of the channel and hope to get back to the viewers as soon as we can. For the time being, we are suspending our telecast confident that justice will prevail.”

    According to media reports, the company has moved to the Kerala high court to secure a stay order. This is the second time that the channel has been barred from airing. In March 2020, Asianet News and MediaOne TV had been barred for 48 hours by MIB citing security concerns.

    Mumbai: Colors Bangla’s new prime-time offering “Sona Roder Gaan” is all set to premiere on January 24. Produced by Organinc Studios, the show will air every day at 8 p.m.

    The show is based on the life of Anondi (played by Payel Dey) who, taking on the burden of familial responsibilities, overcomes all adversities with courage and honesty. The cast also includes veteran theatre artists Sohini Sengupta, Bhaskar Banerjee, and Soham Maitra.

    “We want to provide inspiring stories with wholesome entertainment to our viewers,” said Colors Bangla business head Sagnik Ghosh. “We have always put forward stories of strong women characters and even here we come across Anondi who becomes the sole breadwinner following the untimely demise of her father. The show has a stellar star cast including veteran theatre artist Sohini Sengupta, Bhaskar Banerjee, Soham Maitra et al. The audience will be able to relate to Anondi’s story, her happiness and sorrows.” 

    Colors Bangla is promoting the show across print, television, and digital platforms. For print, the channel will be targeting key publications on the launch day. All social media platforms will be leveraged on the digital front.

    Mumbai: Colors Gujarati has announced the launch of its new show titled “Sorath Ni Mrs Singham.” Premiering on 21 January, the show will air every Monday to Saturday at 9 p.m.

    “Sorath Ni Mrs Singham” is the story of Harshvardhan Rathod – a progressive IPS officer, who supports women’s rights and fights social taboos against them, and a bubbly girl Kesar Jadeja. Based in the culturally rich region of Sorath, Harshvardhan is compelled to marry the underage Kesar. The story depicts Kesar’s journey to becoming an IPS officer in order to earn her husband’s love and to restore the honour that was lost due to their illegal marriage.

    Mumbai: Soon after the announcement of season 10 for its non-scripted reality show – “Memsaab No 1,” Zee Ganga has unveiled the names of the show’s esteemed judges. The channel has roped in superstar Pakkhi Hegde and celebrated cine-drama queen Rinku Ghosh as the judges for the season who will guide contestants in every step over 13 weeks while sharing their experiences with them. 

    The channel will also introduce Chamki Bhauji who will enter the villa on various occasions and give a pep talk to the contestants, test their patience and challenge them at every step for 13 weeks and help them hone their skills in their bid to take home the most-coveted title of being of Sarv Gunn Sampann Babuni. Hosted by none other than the audience’s favorite, Chintu Pandey, the show is all set to premiere on Zee Ganga from January 17 every Monday-Friday at 6 p.m.

    “Memsaab No 1” will host 16 talented female contestants who will share their abode for 13 weeks at Ganga Villa.
