    Suresh Kumar Arora appointed as whole time director of Siti Networks

    MUMBAI: Siti Networks Ltd has appointed Suresh Kumar Arora, who was non-executive non-independent director, as a whole time director of the company with effect from 14 June 2019.

    The appointments have been done on the basis of recommendations of Nomination and Remuneration Committee, confirming that Arora is not debarred from holding the office of director pursuant to any SEBI order or any other authority.

    Arora has experience of about 34 years in various fields and in particular finance and accounts, export/import procedures and documentation and sales and marketing. His last assignment was with Pan India Network Ltd (PINL) at a senior position in sales and marketing department.

    PINL is an Essel Group Company and is engaged in the business operations of Online/Paper Lottery in the state of Punjab. Arora has successfully created a strong network of channel partners – about 50 distributors and 3000 plus retail outlets. PINL was present in almost each and every city of Punjab. During his tenure with PINL, he got the opportunity to interact and coordinate with the senior officials of the Punjab government.

    MUMBAI: Former Discovery India and South Asia head Karan Bajaj has stepped into a new venture by launching an educational technology start-up that is backed by Nexus Venture Partners and Omidyar. 

    Bajaj commenced his career in 2002 as a brand manager at Procter and Gamble. He then served The Boston Consulting Group as the management consultant (project leader) and worked there for about two years.

    He also worked with Kraft Foods Group as marketing director/ P&L leader. He was then elevated to the senior position as senior marketing director/ equity leader.

    Not only this, a best-selling novelist and striving yogi, Bajaj balances his professional career with personal spirituality. His novels Keep Off The Grass and Johnny Down launched his literary career. In June he had his first international novel release—The Yoga of Max’s Discontent.

    MUMBAI: Anil D Ambani-led Reliance Entertainment's Big Synergy has strengthened its creative team with the appointment of Salil Arunkumar Sand as senior creative director.

    With over two decades of experience in writing, directing and creating some of Indian television’s fiction and non-fiction shows, Sand will be based at the company’s Mumbai office. Some of the shows in which he demonstrated his creative prowess that millions of viewers have enjoyed over the years include Indian Idol, Jassi JaiseKoi Nahin, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahin Toh Hoga, Khamoshiyaan and Boogie Woogie.

    Enterr10 appoints Joy Chakraborthy as CEO

    MUMBAI: Enterr10, the media, and entertainment company, has appointed Joy Chakraborthy as its CEO.

    Before joining Enterr10, Chakraborthy has been part of Network18 as president revenue and Forbes India as CEO.  He quit Network18 in November 2018. 

    The veteran executive commenced his career in 1993 as senior manager response at Times Group.

    After his six years stint at the company, he joined Star India as EVP and served the company for about five years.

    Chakraborthy then joined Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd in 2005 as an executive director—revenue and niche channels. After six years of his experience with ZEEL, he joined TV Today Network as the CEO.

    In 2012, he joined Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd. (Times Group) as director. He worked there for about three years and then joined Network18.

    MUMBAI: Sun TV Network has been witnessing a top-level rejig, according to reports. R Mahesh Kumar, who currently serves as president, has been elevated as MD of the company, following the resignation of the network’s MD and CEO K Vijaykumar which is effective 31 March 2019.

    However, K Vijaykumar will continue as the executive director of the board with effect from 1 April 2019. Additionally, the network’s chairman Kalanithi Maran’s daughter, Kaviya Kalanithi Maran, will be joining the board as additional director and she will remain on the board for five years starting 1 April.  

    The company said in a filing to the BSE, “This is to inform you that the Board of Directors of the Company in its meeting held on 20th March, 2019 has appointed Mr. R. Mahesh Kumar as an Additional Director as well as Managing Director, Ms. Kaviya Kalanithi Maran as an Additional Director and Executive Director, Mr. Sridhar Venkatesh and Mr. Desmond Hemanth Theodore as an Additional Directors (Independent) with effect from 1st April, 2019 for a period of five years, subject to the approval of shareholders of the Company.”

    The company added, “We affirm that Mr. R. Mahesh Kumar, Kaviya Kalanithi Maran, Sridhar Venkatesh, and Desmond Hemanth Theodore are not debarred from holding the office of director by virtue of any order of Securities and Exchange Board of India or any other authorities.”

    It further stated, “Further, Mr. K. Vijaykumar, managing director and chief executive officer of the Company has resigned from the post of managing director and chief executive officer with effect from closing hours of 31 March 2019, however, shall continue as an executive director with effect from 1 April 2019.”

    MUMBAI: The WarnerMedia group has announced that Warner Bros studios chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujhara is stepping down after allegations of having an affair with a young British actress and helping her secure roles surfaced, according to reports.

    WarnerMedia chief executive John Stankey said, "It is in the best interest of WarnerMedia, Warner Bros., our employees and our partners for Kevin to step down as chairman and CEO of Warner Bros."

    He further added, without explicitly referring to media reports, that the married 54-year-old studio head had an affair with 26-year-old actress Charlotte Kirk in 2013. "Kevin acknowledges that his mistakes are inconsistent with the company's leadership expectations and could impact the company's ability to execute going forward."

    According to the Hollywood press, Tsujihara tried to use his clout to get the young actress roles, although without much apparent success, since she only had minor parts in two Warner movies.

    Tsujihara's lawyers have denied that he intervened in casting decisions for the films. His replacement has not yet been named to take over additional responsibilities after sweeping reorganisation of the company previously known as Time-Warner following its takeover by telecom giant AT&T.

    MUMBAI: Former Republic World senior associate editor Aditya Raj Kaul has joined BTVI as editor, strategic affairs and internal security. In a tweet, Kaul mentioned that he will be working directly with BTVI executive editor of business television India Siddharth Zarabi.

    He commenced his career as founder member at United Students for almost two years. He then joined The Times of India in 2008 as a freelance features writer. After eight months of his stint, he joined The Indian as India Correspondent.

    In 2010, he joined The Indian, Australia as the Indian editor for more than two years. In 2012, Kaul moved on and went to Planman Media as the special correspondent. Before joining Republic World, he worked with Times Network for about three years as a principal correspondent.

    Fox Network CFO Ravi Ahuja to join Walt Disney Television

    MUMBAI: Fox Networks Group CFO Ravi Ahuja has planned to make a move from the company and is all set to join Walt Disney Television as the president of business operations and CFO. He will join the organisation once the acquisition of 21st Century Fox closes.

    According to the reports, in his new position at Disney, he will oversee finance, strategic planning, business development, affiliate sales and distribution, technology, music affairs, consumer insights and labor relations for the segment, and work with the business units to grow revenue and operating income. He will also liaise with the company’s direct-to-consumer and international divisions on ad sales and content distribution, according to Disney.

    Ahuja is currently the CFO for Fox Networks Group, managing the company’s finance and accounting and overseeing business development for FNG’s business units, including Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox Cable Networks, Fox Sports Media Group and National Geographic Partners, and FNG Wurope and Africa and Latin America.

    He joined Fox in 2007. Before becoming CFO at Fox Networks Group, Ahuja served as executive VP of business operations and development there. Prior to that, he spent eight years at Virgin Entertainment Group, rising to the role of CFO.
