    Times Network clarifies that Faye D’Souza has not resigned

    MUMBAI: After reports suggested that Times Network's Faye D'Souza has quit, the network has clarified that she continues to be associated with it. Times stated that D’Souza has moved away from managing daily operations into specialised shows.

    Times Network has released an official statement on Faye D’Souza’s resignation. The network said, “Regarding ongoing speculation surrounding Faye D’Souza’s disengagement with Mirror Now, this is to clarify that Faye continues to be associated with Times Network and Mirror Now.”

    It further said, “Having played a pivotal role in establishing a strong position for Mirror Now, Faye moves away from managing daily operations of the brand and will now be responsible for creating and presenting flagship shows on Mirror Now in addition to steering new shows, IPs and ground events for the network.”

    The Times network’s English news channel Mirror Now was launched in April 2017 and D'Souza was appointed as a senior editor. D'Souza started her journalism career with All India Radio, while she was a student. She worked as a post graduate journalist at CNBC TV 18 in 2003 and later moved on to reporting about mutual funds, insurance and personal finance. She ran three weekly shows on ET Now – Investor’s Guide, All About Stocks and The Property Guide.

    Ray Nayak launches entrepreneurial venture House of Cheer

    MUMBAI: In his inimitable cheerful style, former Viacom18 COO Raj Nayak has launched his debut entrepreneurial venture House of Cheer. It goes with the tagline ‘Create. Curate. Consult’. However, Nayak did not reveal any more information about his venture.

    Nayak has had an illustrious career of nearly three decades. Before Viacom18, he was the founder and managing director of Aidem Ventures, a media sales and marketing company. He was also the CEO of NDTV Media. He started his career in 1993 as EVP sales and marketing at Star India. He looked after the strategy, packaging and marketing of all the channels under the Star umbrella.

    During his time at Colors as the channel CEO, he was responsible for bringing to the channel its highlight shows such as Big Boss, 24, Rising Star and several award shows.

    In February 2019, Nayak quit Viacom18 after a 7-year stint to pursue his own interests

    TV9 Group appoints Barun Das as CEO

    MUMBAI: TV9 Group has appointed Barun Das as Chief Executive Officer to lead its plans for becoming a dominant national player in the broadcast and digital news space.  Mahendra Mishra, who was acting as the interim CEO of the group, would now be Principal Advisor to the Board of TV9.

    The Group, which enjoys leadership position in multiple languages in the South and West of India, recently launched TV9 Bharatvarsh in Hindi, its first national news channel.

    Das, a veteran of the media business, will be charged with the responsibility of driving synergies among all the channels and to build future-ready new businesses of the Group.

    Dasis an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata and the London School of Economics. His last corporate assignment was as the CEO of Zee Media limited where he worked for over five years. 

    Das has over 25 years’ experience and before Zee News, Barun worked in leadership positions in ABP News, India Today Group, Astro All Asia Network in Kuala Lumpur, ABP Group etc.

    Commenting on Barun’s new role, TV9 Board Whole Time Director and member Singa Rao said, “Our group is committed to the roles and responsibilities of the Fourth Estate. Given our leadership position in the southern and western parts of the country, we are now aiming at achieving similar success in the rest of the country and in the new media domain. We are confident that Barun, with his all-round and vast experience and track record, will power this foray. We welcome Barun on board.”

    Das said he was looking forward to the honour and challenges of the assignment. “I am excited about this new opportunity given the Group’s vision. Every new opportunity comes with fresh challenges and I wish to contribute my bit along with the team. Since TV9 has impressive leadership in the regions of its current operations, it will be my pleasure and privilege, to drive its expansion in the national arena.”

    NDTV interim CEO Suparna Singh resigns

    MUMBAI: NDTV interim CEO Suparna Singh has resigned with immediate effect, the media firm informed in its BSE filings.

    “Suparna Singh has informed the company that she will step down from her responsibilities as Interim CEO with immediate effect,” NDTV said in a regulatory filing.

    “Pursuant to a board resolution on December 4, 2017, the board resolved to appoint Suparna Singh as its CEO subject to the receipt of requisite approval from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting,” said NDTV.

    The company further said, “This approval was promptly applied for on 12 December 2017, but has not yet been received. Subsequently, Suparna Singh and the company entered into an appointment agreement to appoint Singh as the CEO where the appointment was conditional upon receipt of such approval.”

    NDTV told PTI that the matter will be placed before the board and committee members for consideration.

    Mishra will work across platforms, breaking big exclusives with his team on television and Moneycontrol. He will bring a startup investing dimension to Moneycontrol Pro and create world-class editorial events which will be hosted across platforms.

    Mishra is being joined in this new mission by Sunny Sen, a prolific writer of agenda-setting stories, and Anand Murali, whose understanding of startups is second to none. Sunny and Anand were fellow adventurers with Mishra at FactorDaily.

    Mishra joined Network 18 from FactorDaily, a new-age media startup he founded over three years ago.

    At FactorDaily, Mishra and his team became known for agenda-setting and deep technology and startup stories. Mishra brings all his entrepreneurial learning and inputs from inside India's startup ecosystem to help create impact for Network 18.   

    Earlier, in his assignments at The Economic Times and Mint, Mishra built and led technology and startup teams. He was also the India editor for TechCrunch. Mishra believes in combining unique stories and content with design, technology, community engagement and distribution for building valuable media products.  He loves traveling, mostly by train, and meeting people. Over past two years, Mishra has also been producing a weekly podcast called Outliers. He recorded the 100th episode last month with AR Rahman.

Lulla was appointed as group CEO last year. Indiantelevision.com reached out to Balaji but they didn’t respond till the time of publication.

    IMCL’s Subhashish Mazumdar steps down as SVP

    MUMBAI: IMCL's senior vice president – operations and head of customer care, mar-com and regulatory affairs Subhashish Mazumdar has stepped down from his role, Indiantelevision.com has learnt. 31 July was his last working day at IMCL. Mazumdar is likely to exit the cable television business and move into a new domain in a leadership position.

    He joined as chief marketing officer for CAS in Hinduja Media Group in 2003 and subsequently based on various restructuring of the Hinduja Media Group’s IMCL, worked as head of business development for foreign content, regulatory policy head, customer care and process management head, marketing, operations and sales, senior regional head for north and east, head of JVs etc.

    He has been with the Hinduja Group for over 16 years. Mazumdar been involved in strategic work on content on various digital delivery systems in cable and HITS satellite. He was part of the launch of HITS platform as well.

    The veteran executive was also responsible for bringing South Korea’s key international English channel Arirang TV in India. He has played a very valuable and key role in the entire digitisation process of the cable sector. He has an overall career spanning now over 32 years in middle and senior management levels in almost all aspects of business functions like marketing, sales, finance, operations, people management, customer relations, regulatory among others in diverse industry sectors.

    Mazumdar is a post graduate in management from IIM-A.

    MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has elevated Kartik Mahadev to the role of business head of its premium channels cluster post the departure of incumbent Shaurya Mehta last week.

    Mahadev joined ZEEL in February 2019 as Head – Marketing and Communications. Prior to this, Mahadev has worked with Star Network as VP Marketing – Star Sports from May 2017 to January 2019, where he led the brand strategy and communication approach to building a multi-sports culture in the country with impactful community initiatives such as the 'Khelo India School Games' and 'Khelo India Youth Games' that encourage society to play more. He joined Star Network in October 2016 as VP – Channel Maketing Star India.

    For more than two years, Mahadev was also part of Mondelez International. He began his role and led the launch of Cadbury Bournvita Biscuits in India in March 2014.

    Mehta started his career in 2003 as systems associate at GE healthcare. After serving the company for about two years, he joined Deloitte Consulting as the senior consultant. In 2012, he was the co-founder and COO of Ekstop.com and after three years, in 2015, he was the head of Ecommerce at Godrej. In 2017 Mehta was appointed as Essel Group's lifestyle channel- Living Foodz COO and last year he was given the additional role to Head Premium cluster.

    Star India ropes in Marico’s Anuradha Aggarwal to head English and kids genres

    MUMBAI: As per media reports, former Marico CMO Anuradha Aggarwal will be joining Star India to head the English and kids channels for the broadcaster. It is going to be her first stint in the broadcast industry.

    Aggarwal, who had left Marico in October last year, comes with almost two decades of experience in marketing in the FMCG category. She has earlier worked with brands like Mondelez and Vodafone India. She had started her career with HUL and had spent initial 12 years of her professional life in the company. She was the category marketing manager for hair care when she had resigned from there.

    Aggarwal holds a PGDBM degree in Marketing Management from IIM Bangalore and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics Honours from Lady Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University.
