    Mumbai: Kids content viewership has been on the rise since the last few years in India.     Phil Nelson named executive vice president of CNN International Commercial

    Mumbai: CNN Worldwide has appointed Phil Nelson to lead the network’s international business operations and its work with commercial partners outside of the United States.

    As executive vice president of CNN International Commercial (CNNIC), Nelson is responsible for all international Advertising Sales, Content Sales & Licensing and Commercial Distribution revenue, as well as related client solutions functions including the award-winning Create brand studio and world-class digital and data operations. In this role, Nelson also works with partners across the Warner Bros. Discovery business on areas such as CNN International’s distribution strategy and collaboration on digital operations and ad sales to provide more opportunities for brand partners to access news and other genres across the portfolio. Nelson becomes part of CNN Worldwide’s leadership team and reports to the network’s group executive vice president of business operations & strategy, Chris Marlin.

    As CNNIC’s chief operating officer since 2019, Nelson led operational and international growth initiatives while managing advertising sales support functions. In that time he put in place the framework for CNNIC’s Audience First ad sales strategy, took CNN content onto new platforms, and grew the portfolio of CNN’s international affiliate business with broadcasters and publishers around the world as well as its commercial distribution footprint with hotels and airlines. Major initiatives in Nelson’s time at CNNIC to date include the introduction of CNN International onto Connected TV platforms in Europe, the launch of the CNN Apparel business in Asia, licensing the rights to Great Big Story, and the expansion of the CNN branded channel portfolio with additions including CNN Brasil, CNN Prima News and CNN Portugal.

    Prior to joining CNN, Nelson was managing director at Turner North Asia and South East Asia Pacific, overseeing all aspects of Turner’s business in these regions. He had previously held other business development and strategic planning roles at Turner since joining in 2010 and has significant digital experience from his time at AOL, where he was managing director for AOL Asia. In addition, Nelson holds an MBA from Harvard University and, prior to entering the corporate sector, was a commander in the US Navy.

    CNN is making additional key changes to CNNIC’s executive leadership team as it evolves its client offering:

    •     Cathy Ibal is named senior vice president, advertising sales, to oversee all CNN’s international advertising sales. A proven commercial leader with 22 years’ experience at CNN, Ibal has a track record of leading global teams and developing innovative advertising and brand solutions for a wide range of clients – from major luxury and blue chip brands to travel and tourism and other private and public sector partners
    •     Rob Bradley is appointed senior vice president of digital revenue, strategy & operations, with a remit that includes everything related to the digital ecosystem for CNNIC – revenue, operations and commercial strategy. In addition to his CNNIC role, Rob is part of the CNN Digital leadership team and will lead CNNIC’s collaboration with WBD’s international business operations on digital projects and utilising best practice in advertising technology and solutions
    •     CNNIC’s sophisticated capabilities in creative, data, revenue strategy and client services are all being brought into one unit under the leadership of James Hunt who would be senior vice president of global client solutions. This will include a joined up offering for partners across CNNIC’s award-winning Create Studio and the Audiences & Data unit along with client servicing, events and strategy functions.

    Mumbai: The much-awaited TCS World 10K Race held in Bengaluru, is known for its challenging course and elite participants from all over the world. It once again witnessed an extraordinary display of athleticism, with 29 adidas global and Indian athletes outperforming their competitors and dominating the podium.

    Crossing the finish line with a time of 00 hours 27 minutes 57 seconds, Sabastain Sawe emerged victorious in the International Elite Men’s category, wearing the record-breaking adidas ADIZERO TAKUMI SEN 9. Following suit was Rodrigue Kwizera finishing in second place.

    It surely was a podium sweep for adidas’ ADIZERO franchise as joining the men on the podium from the International Elite Women’s category was Fotyen Tesfaye finishing in second place along with Dera Dida in third place. Along with Seema Yadav claiming third place in the India Elite Women’s category.     Mumbai: The stage is set for the inaugural season of the Pro Panja League to kick off with Asia’s biggest arm-wrestling promotion set to premiere on Sony Sports Network from 28 July 2023. With the final set to take place on 13 August 2023, the 17-day sporting event is ready to take armwrestling across India to the next level and revolutionise the sport all around the country.

    To add to the level of excitement, Pro Panja League has announced their first two franchises with Punit Balan Studios Private Ltd. acquiring the Mumbai franchise and Ned Ventures Led By Gautam Reddy getting the Hyderabad franchise.

    Speaking of his association with the Pro Panja League, Balan said, “One of the most popular and fast games across the world is arm-wrestling. It is a combination of strength and technique to pin down your opponent. The game has a unique and ancient history.     Mumbai: Dolly Jha, who held the designation of managing director at Nielsen Media – India, an audience measurement, data and analytics firm has moved on, and is believed to join Broadcast Audience Research Council (Barc) India, an industry body that measures television viewership in India.

    In a post on LinkedIn, Jha mentioned that after completing her 13-year-long stint at Nielsen she wants “to continue to explore and learn while making meaningful contributions to the world of Media Measurement.”

    Jha has about 25 years of experience and is an expert in audience measurement and drawing consumer insights from data. She is expected to head the product team at Barc India.

    A graduate from the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) in 1994 she joined IMRB where she spent about nine years. She was the head of consumer insights at ITC for about three years after which she returned to IMRB for a second stint that lasted almost four years.

    Mumbai: Times Group is set to split as the dispute between brothers Samir Jain and Vineet Jain has reached a resolution. The separation has been finalised and entails a partition of assets and responsibilities.

    As per reports, Samir Jain will assume control over the print business segment, including digital assets aligned with print operations. Meanwhile, Vineet Jain will take charge of the broadcast, radio, and entertainment divisions, along with their associated digital assets. Furthermore, Vineet will receive a substantial cash settlement, commensurate with the size and prominence of the print business, which boasts the flagship publication, The Times of India.

    In addition to the aforementioned divisions, the equally valued assets of Times Internet and the real estate holdings will be equitably distributed between the two parties.

    For the quarter ended 31 March 2023, the Revenues for the quarter were at Rs 813.53 crores as against Rs 833.01 crores for the corresponding quarter ended 31 March 2022. The Advertisement revenues for the quarter was at Rs 338.37 crores as against Rs 337.13 crores for the corresponding quarter ended 31 March 2022. The Subscription revenues for the quarter was at Rs 406.11 crores as against Rs 416.03 crores for the corresponding quarter ended 31 March, 2022. EBITDA for the quarter ended 31 March 2023 was at Rs.487.60 crores as against Rs 553.33 crores for the previous quarter ended 31 March 2022. The Profit after taxes for the current quarter stood at Rs 365.82 crores as against Rs 404.35 crores in the corresponding quarter ended 31 March 2022.

    For the year ended 31 March 2023, the Standalone Revenues for the year was higher by ~4.46 per cent at Rs 3,661.37 crores as against Rs 3,504.88 crores for the corresponding year ended 31 March 2022. The Advertisement revenues for the year grew by ~7.95 per cent at Rs 1,403.96 crores as against Rs 1,300.60 crores for the previous year ended 31 March 2022.The Domestic Subscription revenues for the year was at Rs 1,619.71 crores, as against Rs 1,657.31 crores for the previous year ended 31 March 2022. EBITDA for the year ended 31 March 2023, was up ~3.78 per cent at Rs 2,349.28 crores as against Rs 2,263.78 crores for the previous year ended 31 March 2022. The Profit after taxes rose by ~1.81 per cent to Rs 1,674.53 crores for the year ended 31 March 2023 as against Rs 1,644.80 crores for the previous year ended 31 March 2022. During the year, the Board of Directors declared four interim dividends cumulating to 300 per cent, i.e Rs 15.00 per share.

    For the year ended 31 March 2023, the Consolidated Revenues was up ~5.22 per cent at Rs 3,772.09 crores as against Rs 3,584.82 crores for the corresponding year ended 31 March 2022. EBITDA for the year ended 31st March 2023 was higher by ~4.61 per cent at Rs 2,392.99 crores as against Rs 2,287.49 crores for the previous year ended 31 March 2022. The Profit after taxes(after accounting of share from joint venture) also remained higher by ~3.96 per cent at Rs 1,706.92 crores for the year ended 31 March 2023, as against Rs 1,641.91 crores for the previous year ended 31 March 2022.
