    JioCinema resumes digital innings with India’s Tour of West Indies 2023

    Mumbai: JioCinema has announced the acquisition of digital rights to India’s Tour of West Indies 2023 to live-stream the month-long series that includes two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is.

    The all-format bilateral tour starts 12 July with the first Test in Dominica followed by the second in Trinidad. The Test series will mark the beginning of India’s World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. The three-match ODI series begins 27 July and will be played in Barbados and Trinidad. The five-match T20I competition tips off in Trinidad on 3 August, followed by two matches in Guyana and the last two fixtures in Florida, USA. 

    After shattering all records, and establishing unprecedented levels of engagement, viewership, and concurrency during the TATA IPL 2023, JioCinema will continue to offer fans their favourite sport in a never-seen-before presentation for free. Viewers will be able to watch the limited-overs action in English, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. This will be the first time a bilateral series will be presented in seven languages.

The excitement and fervour of TATA IPL 2023 reached a fever pitch during the final as JioCinema set a new world record as 3.21 cr. viewers were concurrently watching the action between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.

    Mumbai: News18 India successfully concluded the second edition of News18 India Open Mic in Chhattisgarh. The conclave provided a platform to celebrate the achievements of Chhattisgarh and its people, while fostering engaging conversations and discussions.

    While addressing the event, chief minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel, spoke about the decision regarding the chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming assembly elections in the state. He also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for alleged double standards and strongly emphasised the Chhattisgarh government’s commitment to uplifting marginalised sections of society through schemes such as providing free electricity. Baghel passionately stressed the crucial importance of using government funds to support the welfare of the people, especially during the challenging times such as during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Baghel also stated, “I represent two identities: as a ‘Chhattisgarhiya’ and a ‘Congressi’. We firmly believe in Lord Shree Ram and are dedicated to maintaining harmony. Our efforts go beyond providing training and unemployment allowances; our primary focus is to create ample employment opportunities for the talented youth of our state.”

    Chhattisgarh Forest and Climate Change, Transport, Housing and Environment, and Law minister Mohammad Akbar, focused on promoting religious unity and refrained from commenting on controversial topics. Instead, he shared his experiences during his election journey, emphasizing Hindu-Muslim unity in his assembly constituency of Kawardha.

    Chhattisgarh Child and Women Welfare minister Anila Bhendia, who shared her journey of becoming an MLA and minister, credited her family and husband for their support. She highlighted the positive impact of her tenure, including a significant reduction in anemia among women and addressing the issue of malnutrition in children.

She shed light on the struggles faced by the LGBTQ community in a patriarchal society, emphasising the importance of acceptance and understanding, while expressing her profound love for Chhattisgarh and its people.

    Cricketer Harpreet Singh Bhatia, spoke about how he drew inspiration from Sourav Ganguly and nostalgically mentioned his childhood decision to bat left-handed. Grateful for the opportunities he has got in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he reflected on watching India-Australia matches during his formative years. Chitrasen Sahu, the celebrated mountaineer, shared his extraordinary achievements, including conquering Aconcagua, the highest peak of the South American continent, with both artificial legs. He narrated his journey from a life-changing accident to his pursuit of mountaineering, which instilled a sense of freedom and confidence within him. Omkar Das Manikpur delivered a captivating speech, sharing his inspiring journey of becoming a stage actor, discussing the challenges he encountered and the transformative power of pursuing one’s passion.

    Disney Star reshuffles top brass; Gaurav Banerjee’s role expanded

    Mumbai: Disney Star has reorganised its leadership team by expanding Gaurav Banerjee’s role and implementing various organisational changes. This occurred over a two-month period following the resignation of Kevin Vaz as head of Network Entertainment Channels.

    According to an internal email from K Madhavan (country manager and president, Disney Star), Banerjee will now be in charge of Star Bharat, the Hindi and English Movies cluster, Kids & Infotainment, and the regional portfolio (East), which includes Star Jalsha and Star Kiran, in addition to leading Content Studio for TV and Disney+ Hotstar. Banerjee will keep Madhavan informed about his development.

    Krishnan Kutty will now serve as the business and content head for the entire South & Marathi regional portfolio, which includes Star Suvarna, Star Maa, Asianet, Star Vijay, Star Pravah, and D+ H Regional Specials for these markets. He shall report to Madhavan, too.

    Sumanta Bose will continue to lead content for Star Plus, Star Jalsha, and Disney+ Hotstar Hindi Specials, reporting to Banerjee with an additional line of reporting to Sajith Sivanandan, who is the head of Disney+ Hotstar. He will also continue to serve as the business head for Star Plus and Star Utsav, reporting directly to Madhavan.

    Alok Jain, who was in charge of Star Maa, Star Jalsha, Star Kiran, and Star Suvarna, has decided to call it a day.

    Mani Rangarajan will also assume full responsibility for these tasks for the network in addition to managing technology and operations for the Disney cluster. As a result, Gajendra Tijare, who is the head of broadcast technology & operations, and Vivek Dhaimade, head of traffic & presentation, will report to him.

    In addition to her current position as head of creative communications, Minakshi Achan will also be in charge of social listening. She will receive reports from Disney Star executive director Venke Sharma.

    All alterations will be effective immediately.

    The two tournaments will make history with notable firsts, providing AB InBev and its leading brands with new opportunities to brew excitement for fans all around the world. The FIFA Women’s World Cup will make its debut in the southern hemisphere in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand next month, with 32 teams also taking part in the competition for the first time.
