    LSG off-field performance promises exciting home debut season

    Mumbai: The Lucknow Super Giants have produced standout performances in back-to-back IPL seasons on the field, however, the RPSG Group-owned team, led by Dr Sanjiv Goenka, also pulled off stunning accomplishments off the field during IPL 2023.

    With the Indian Premier League going back to the home-and-away format this year, the Super Giants grabbed their opportunity of engaging with their home fans for the first time. The franchise’s 360-degree integrated marketing campaign highlights included outdoor advertising at over 100 sites across Uttar Pradesh, a partnership with Radio City, several on-ground activations to build LSG’s over 6000-strong fan club “LSG Brigade”, as well as extensive coverage across online and print media in multiple languages.  

    The season was kicked off with a glitzy jersey launch event on 8 March in the presence of BCCI secretary Jay Shah, key players like KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya among others, and was streamed live in eight major cities across Uttar Pradesh.

    In addition, the Lucknow Super Giants conducted Jashn-e-LSG – an open bus roadshow with the team from Rumi Darwaza to Ambedkar Park in Nawabs. The world’s first-ever cricket-themed drone show followed the roadshow, with spellbinding still and motion pictures captured and shared across social media.

    The BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium hosted IPL matches for the first time, and the franchise worked closely with the UPCA and stadium authorities to make the necessary infrastructural upgrades to ensure that the venue met international standards.  

    The Lucknow Super Giants’ initiatives resulted in around 3 lakh passionate fans thronging the stadium throughout the season, at an average of an almost full-capacity (50,000) crowd for Lucknow’s first-ever season at home. Furthermore, LSG and Lucknow Metro worked together to provide special late-night trains and feeder buses to make it easier for fans to head back home after matches. A fleet of E-Rickshaw shuttle rides was also organized at the stadium.

    In the digital world, LSG rocketed up the charts in 2022 and stole the show with unparalleled video content across channels.  The franchise engaged popular UP-based content creator Shubham Gaur, who created multiple viral short and long-form video IPs, helping the Super Giants cumulatively record over 500 million views during the season. The franchise registered the highest Engagement Rate, a metric which measures the quality of content, among all IPL teams on Twitter and Facebook. Moreover, they added about three million new fans to their social channels and reached close to two billion people worldwide online.

    In the sponsorship space, LSG attracted over 20 commercial partners across industries like Fantasy Gaming, EVs, Industrial Steel, FMCGs, Digital Collectibles and NFTs, and more.     Mumbai: Broadcast Audience Research Council (Barc) India has released currency data for week 25, i.e. 17 June to 23 June 2023. As per data for the all India 2+ target group, STAR Maa is the most watched channel in India with an average minute audience (AMA) of 2524.39(000). It was followed by Sun TV at 2433.53(000) AMA, STAR Plus at 2340.32(000) AMA, Goldmines at 1779.29(000) AMA, and Zee Telugu at 1707.08(000) AMA.

    The average minute audience (AMA) is defined as the number of individuals within a target audience who viewed a televised “event,” averaged across minutes. In the Hindi-speaking market (HSM), STAR Plus emerged as the most-watched channel at 2259.71(000) AMA, followed by Goldmines at 1750.56(000) AMA, Dangal at 1698.29(000) AMA, SONY SAB at 1636.57(000) AMA and STAR Pravah at 1508.04(000) AMA.

    In the South market, STAR Maa was the most-watched channel at 2470.1(000) AMA, followed by Sun TV at 2408.35(000) AMA, Zee Telugu at 1683.97(000) AMA, STAR Vijay at 1514.35(000) AMA and Zee Kannada at 1325.07(000) AMA.

    In the Maharashtra/Goa market, Star Pravah was the most-watched channel at 1494.46(000) AMA, followed by Zee Marathi at 431.61(000) AMA, SONY Sab at 422.69(000) AMA, Colors Marathi at 407.71(000) AMA and STAR Plus at 327.14(000) AMA.

    In the West Bengal market, STAR Jalsha was the most-watched channel with 900.69(000) AMA, followed by Zee Bangla at 715.61(000) AMA, Colors Bangla at 148.31(000) AMA, Jalsha Movies at 134.08(000) AMA and SONY Aath at 116.49(000) AMA.

    In the megacities market, including Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai, Sun TV was the most-watched channel at 405.76(000) AMA followed by STAR Plus at 358.11(000) AMA, STAR Vijay at 322.85(000) AMA, Colors at 302.17(000) AMA and STAR Pravah at 297.47(000) AMA.

    Mumbai: Colors Tamil, Viacom 18’s Tamil Entertainment channel, brings to your small screens two exciting new shows with a common thread – how deep and unique bonds are forged between disparate women when they are brought together by twists of fate. Called Perazhagi 2 and Archanai Pookal – Iru Sagodharigalin Kadhai, the dubbed versions of Kannada hit series Lakshana and Bhagyalakshmi, they will be aired every Monday to Friday from 3 July. 

    Perazhagi 2 revolves around the lives of two girls Nakshatra (played by Vijayalakshmi) and Shwetha (Sukrutha Nag) who were swapped 23 years back in a hospital by a doctor. Nakshatra is not accepted as daughter and granddaughter by her father Thukarama and his mother because she is dark-skinned. The father believes that she cannot be his daughter as he and his wife Jaya are fair complexioned. Nakshatra endures the rejection with a smile and dreams of becoming a TV anchor. But here too, she fails due to her skin tone. Eventually, she lands a job in which she is the voice while the fair complexioned Shwetha, the same girl, is the face of the show. Meanwhile, Bhupathi (Jaganath C), the owner of MPR Foods and S/O Shakuntala Devi (Sudha Belawadi), lives as a PG guest in Nakshatra’s house but he doesn’t disclose his real identity. Trouble begins when Bhupathi falls in love with Shwetha’s voice not knowing that it is actually Nakshatra’s voice. After many twists and turns, Bhupathi falls in love with Nakshatra, despite her dusky look. At the same time, Nakshatra and Shwetha get to meet their real parents. Watch the drama unveil in Perazhagi 2 only on Colors Tamil at 8:30 PM. 

    Expressing delight at Perazhagi 2’s telecast on Colors Tamil, Vijayalaksmi said; “Lakshana was my debut project. I am extremely thrilled its’s getting dubbed in Tamil. I get the opportunity to be exposed to new viewers. I hope Tamil audiences will accept me.”

    Archanai Pookal – Iru Sagodharigalin Kadhai is a story of bonding between women of different ages, of true sisterhood. Bhagya’s (played by Sushma K. Rao) life is hell as her husband Tandav (Sudarshan Rangaprasad) abuses and mistreats her from the start. Bhagya endures all this silently and with a smile while continuing to take care of the entire family. She also raises an orphaned Lakshmi (Bhoomika Ramesh), who is her uncle’s daughter, as her own little sister. She even finds a good man for Lakshmi and gets her married. As Bhagya’s life becomes worse, she finds help from unexpected quarters, in the form of her mother-in-law, who gives her the strength to stand up for her rights. She even provides her a good education so she can sustain herself, setting the stage for a unique bonding between the two.     Mumbai: NDTV’s shareholders have approved the appointment of directors – Sanjay Pugalia and Senthil Chengalvarayan, media networks have reported. They will be whole-time directors for three years, starting April 2023.

    Pugalia and Chengalvarayan were earlier non-executive directors. They were appointed as the new directors on the NDTV board soon after the resignation of Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy as directors on the Board of RRPR Holding Private Ltd. in November 2022 post the aquisition by Adani Group.

    MUMBAI: The folks at Disney Star India’s Star Vijay are mighty happy – and, yet, very upset. Happy, because the channel has raced ahead of southern leader Sun TV in terms of viewership ratings in week 24. Upset, because they are allegedly being fingered on the ground with Star Vijay being placed lower down in the LCN band by certain distribution platform operators.

    Sources close to Disney Star reveal that in the just concluded week 24 Star Vijay racked up 772 Grps as against Sun TV’s 749 in the Chennai, TN/Pondicherry urban 15-30 demographic. Triumphant, the Star Vijay marketing team splashed their one-week win all over digital media. Bang came the riposte from Sun TV. Sources close to Star Vijay say that the southern behemoth immediately bumped it down to a lower LCN (no 56 from 38) on Sun Direct while pulling the Tamil channel from LCN 75 to LCN 96 on its cable TV platform SCV or Kal Cables.

    This, according to industry experts, could have a detrimental effect on Star Vijay’s ratings in the coming week. The Disney Star India team was reportedly appealing to both platforms to place the channel back on the higher LCN – to no avail.

    Indiantelevision.com reached out to Sun Direct and SCV officials but they refused to comment. Sources close to the Sun TV network, however, stated that Star Vijay has gained a lead just in urban markets and for one week only.

    “So why is it going around trumpeting that it Is the leader?” one of them asked. “We totally disagree with their claim.”

    Sources close to Disney Star India reveal that the mouse house has written to broadcasting regulator TRAI complaining about the southern powerhouse’s LCN shifting tactics.

    The question now is: with the two adversaries staring at each other eye to eye, who will blink first?

    ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule announced

    Mumbai: The International Cricket Council (ICC), has announced the schedule for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at a ‘Countdown to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023’ event in Mumbai.

    Ten teams feature in what will be the biggest Cricket World Cup ever, to be played across 10 venues from 5 October to 19 November, with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosting the tournament opener and the final.

    The other nine venues are Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will join Hyderabad in hosting the practice games.

    Defending champions England will take on New Zealand in a much-awaited clash between the 2019 World Cup finalists that opens the tournament in Ahmedabad, while hosts India will face-off against five-time winners Australia in Chennai on 8 October.

    Ahmedabad will also host matches between traditional rivals India and Pakistan (15 October) and Australia and England (4 November).

    Eight teams have qualified for the 46-day event through the Cricket World Cup Super League while the final two spots will be taken by the finalists of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier taking place in Zimbabwe.

    The tournament retains the round-robin format of last time with all teams playing against each other for a total of 45 league matches. There are six day matches which will start at 10h30 Indian Standard Time (IST) while all other matches, including the knockouts, will be day-night fixtures starting at 14h00 IST.

    The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals, to be played in Mumbai on 15 November and in Kolkata on 16 November. The semi-finals and the final will have reserve days.

    ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice said, “We are delighted to release the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule which is always a huge occasion ahead of any global event.”

    “Hundreds of millions of fans around the world will be part of what we hope will be the greatest ever Men’s Cricket World Cup and we know in India the teams will enjoy a unique electric atmosphere concluding with the winners lifting the trophy in the biggest cricket stadium in the world in Ahmedabad.”

    BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said: “It’s a matter of great honour and pride to be hosting the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in different cities across India, showcasing the rich diversity of our country.”

    “The fervour and passion for cricket in India is unique. I am sure fans both here and abroad would be looking forward to the tournament’s return to India for the first time since 2011, when our team became the first to lift the trophy on home soil.”

    “I wish all the teams the very best in their preparations and look forward to hosting what promises to be another exciting tournament.”

    Zee MPCG’s exclusive ‘Emerging Bastar’ program goes LIVE

    Mumbai: Inclusive Development is possible only if equal opportunities and empowerment is encouraged across the nation. With an aim to acknowledge and appreciate the progressive approach and implementation of development policies in Bastar, Zee Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh (Zee MPCG) highlighted the initiatives taken by the state government by hosting the ‘Emerging Bastar’ conclave. Organized in collaboration with the Government of Chhattisgarh, Zee MPCG’s exclusive ‘Emerging Bastar’ program was an eye-opener to the larger audience for understanding the latest developments in the district and the importance of preserving the rich art, culture and music of the tribal community. 

    Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, appreciated the Zee MPCG for the exclusive screening of the ‘Emerging Bastar’ program and stated, “Bastar was under the influence of Naxal activities, people were in panic. We won the trust of the people of Bastar by working for the development of Bastar and providing assured security to the people.” Mr. Baghel also further emphasized on how the culture of Bastar is the identity of this place. To save this culture, the government is also looking into the Devguri construction, Ghotul construction, implementation of Adivasi Parab Samman Nidhi Yojana, Chhattisgarhi Parv Samman Nidhi Yojana etc. 

    Zee MPCG’s ‘Emerging Bastar’ also witnessed the active participation of well-known dignitaries like Deepak Baij- Member Of Parliament (Loksabha)-Bastar, Chandan Kashyap – MLA, Narayanpur, Shishupala Soori – MLA, Kanker, Vikram Mandavi- MLA, Bijapur,  Divyang Patel – SP, Kanker, Ajit Basant-  Collector, Narayanpur, Gaurav Rai – SP, Dantewada. Key speakers engaged in in-depth panel discussions on topics like ‘How the benefits of government schemes are reaching the people’, ‘Has the demand of the people of Jagdalpur been fulfilled?’ and several other elements necessary for ‘Inclusive Development’.  

    Highlighting the relevance of the conclave, Zee MPCG editor Mohit Sinha said, “We take pride in highlighting the initiatives taken by the Government of Chhattisgarh towards the culturally rich and resource-abundant district of Bastar. Improvisation in road connectivity and provision of modern facilities in the tribal land makes Bastar an aspirational tourist hotspot. Public platforms like Emerging Bastar is a step forward towards educating the larger audience on the govt. initiatives being undertaken for the welfare of the people and present the way forward.”
