  • Toei Animation Europe to launch new website version of One Piece

    MUMBAI: Toei Animation Europe S.A.S, a subsidiary of Toei Animation, is renewing its dedicated website on One Piece. The One Piece series debuted in Japan on Fuji TV on 20 October 1999. Till now, 373 episodes of the series have already been aired.



    The renewed website will feature series overview, historical information, character description and offer exclusive contents, such as quiz games, animated wallpapers and videos.




    TOEI Animation Europe COO Kanji Kazahaya said, “This brand new website will allow fans to find all information about their favorite series in one place. It will also be the perfect place for our licensees to organize cross-marketing operations. Our objective is now to improve our presence on the internet by launching localized versions of One Piece website in other European countries, and by creating dedicated websites on other major properties.”

  • Nick to air Stuart Little on 19 October

    MUMBAI: Nick will air Stuart Little in the Nick Home Cinema slot of 19 October at 11 am.


    The movie will have a repeat telecast on 7 pm the same day.



    Based on the classic book by EB White, an American author, Stuart Little is a comedy and adventure based movie by Rob – Minkoff, co-director of The Lion King



    .



    Stuart (voice of Michael J Fox), a little guy with a big heart (not to mention whiskers and a really dapper wardrobe) searches for a place to call home. Little’s family played by Geena Davis, Hugh Laurie and Jonathan Lipnicki adopt Stuart and the adventures begin. The humor is multiplied by Snowball, the family cat (voice of Nathan Lane).


    Stuart’s stay with the family makes him learn the true meaning of family, loyalty and even friendship.

  • Nickelodeon to premiere new TV movie of Dora

    MUMBAI:Nickelodeon is set to premiere the new hour-long TV movie, Dora Saves the Snow Princess, on 3 November at 8 pm (ET/PT).

    Currently in its fifth season, the preschool series Dora the Explorer airs weekdays at 10.30 am and 12 pm (ET/PT) on Nick Jr.



    “Kids admire and love Dora because she is a true heroine – someone who is brave, bold and kind,” said Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group president of animation Brown Johnson. “In this epic adventure, preschoolers can embrace their inner hero as they actively participate to help Dora save the snow princess.”


    Nick Jr. also has plans to roll out content from Dora Saves the Snow Princess across different platforms.


    Beginning 20 October Nick Jr. Video, Nick Jr.‘s broadband video service available on Nickjr.com, will begin streaming a two-minute sneak peek and song clips from the movie along with additional themed episodes from Dora the Explorer.


    Also from the same day, sneak peek will be available on VCast.
    From 27 November, Verizon FiOS‘ video-on-demand will feature an advance screening of Dora Saves the Snow Princess one week prior to its linear premiere.

    and distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment, Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess includes the title movie plus two new-to-DVD episodes (Dora‘s Jack in the Box and Bark, Bark to Play Park) along with the Snow Maze game. Additionally this month, Dora Saves the Snow Princess comes to major video game consoles including Nintendo Wii.

  • Disney-ABC-ESPN TV signs content deal with Antena 3

    MUMBAI: Disney-ABC-ESPN TV has concluded a multi-year, multi genre content agreement with Spain’s major free television network Antena 3.



    The agreement includes season one of “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Disney Channel’s hit Original Series which follows the lives of the Russos, who are a lot like the other families in their Manhattan neighbourhood, with one significant difference – they come from a long line of wizards and now, the three teens in the house – Justin, Alex and Max – must learn to hone their budding magical powers or soon risk losing them.



    It also includes free television first runs of a wide range of Walt Disney Studios feature films such as The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Dark Water, Eight Below, The Guardian, Annapolis, Venom (The Reaper) and Scary Movie 4.



    For Disney-ABC-ESPN Television this agreement was concluded by Disney-ABC-ESPN Television vice president programme distribution David Nogueira with Antena 3 head of acquisitions Mercedes Gamero.

  • Disney-ABC-ESPN signs VoD deal for movies with Kabel Plus

    MUMBAI: Disney-ABC-ESPN Television and Kabel Plus have concluded a multi-year agreement for the launch of Walt Disney Studios movie titles on Czech and Slovakian PC video on demand service Metoo.



    This new deal encompasses current and library feature titles and is in line with Disney’s strategy of working with international partners in the new media space to bring its content to viewers in interactive, flexible ways.



    With this multi-year partnership, viewers will be able to stream the latest features, plus a selection of library titles, to rent. New features in this agreement include the critically acclaimed Disney/Pixar animation “WALL-E,” the latest instalment in the much-loved Narnia stories – “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.” Also available will be adventure comedy “National Treasure: The Book of Secrets” and two times Academy Award winning “There Will Be Blood.”



    These deals were brokered by Vanessa Patenon, manager, New Media Distribution, Disney-ABC-ESPN Television manager new media distribution manager Vanessa Patenon and Kabel Plus director content Igor Caban.

  • Walt Disney to release 3D film BOLT on 21 November

    MUMBAI: Walt Disney Pictures‘ newest animated comedy adventure Bolt will open on 21 November in more than 1,000 theatres. The movie is about an action-star dog who believes he has superpowers.








    With the opening of Bolt, RealD is expanding a comprehensive eyewear recycling program, available for moviegoers to deposit their glasses after seeing a film. However, moviegoers will continue to have the option of keeping their glasses as a souvenir to remember their RealD movie experience.



    When Journey to the centre of the Earth opened in July, it began a pilot program with several exhibitor partners. There are over thirty 3D films already announced to be released within the next three years.



    “Like any successful recycling program, it‘s about making it easy for people to recycle. We appreciate the participation of our exhibitor partners and know that audiences will appreciate the convenience as well,” stated RealD chairman and CEO Michael V Lewis.

     

  • BBC Worldwide announces global sales for ‘In the Night Garden’







    MUMBAI: BBC Worldwide – the commercial arm of UK pubcaster the BBC – has announced that In the Night Garden, the UK pre-school programme from Ragdoll Productions, has been sold to Gulli and Tiji in France, taking the total TV sales so far to 24 countries including Canada, Australia and Spain.



    BBC Worldwide MD children‘s and licensing Neil Ross Russell says, “France is a really important territory to us and these sales enable us to open up additional platforms to launch our merchandising, publishing and DVD plans. These, in turn, provide valuable revenue to be invested back in to programming and services at the BBC.”



    BBC Worldwide adds that In the Night Garden has triumphed with high ratings, awards and press accolades since its launch in Spring 2007. It was the fastest growing new toy property in 2007, beating other newcomer High School Musical and is valued at ?10.8 million.



    To date the property has sold over half a million DVDs and over 1.5 million books. Hasbro‘s Blanket Time Igglepiggle scooped the prestigious Toy of the Year award and scored exceptional sales success in the run up to Christmas in 2007.



    In France, In the Night Garden launched on Gulli, a children‘s channel jointly owned by the France Télévisions public service group and the Lagard?re group. The pre-school show will broadcast every morning. Tiji, a pre-school channel owned by Lagard?re, will broadcast the programme every day.


    A mid-September launch in Spain is already proving a ratings success. After just 18 broadcasts on public service broadcaster TVE, the channel has reported an almost 25 per cent audience share for the programme.



    In Europe In the Night Garden has also been sold to Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Denmark, Serbia, Sweden, Lithuania.



    The programme has also sold to the Middle East including Iran and Israel, South Africa and India where it airs on CBeebies.



    Recent sales deals of the show in Asia include the media company Everyshow in Korea, Malaysia on RTM and Singapore on Kids Central as well as to Hong Kong and Taiwan.



    Launched on ABC1 in Australia this April, In the Night Garden enjoys an average of 25 per cent audience share each morning. Hasbro toy sales in the region recently surpassed Thomas the Tank Engine and Dora the Explorer toy sale.



    Publishing is proving equally strong with 11 book titles selling-through 121,000 units since hitting the shelves in June***, with more than 45,000 DVD units sold-through since initial release in early August.


    In the Night Garden launched on Canada‘s Treehouse in February 2008. The show airs everyday. Hasbro and Penguin launched new product to market in the Summer. The programme has also sold to Trinidad in South America.

  • Disney-ABC-ESPN Television signs VoD deal with Portugal’s Sonaecom

    MUMBAI: Disney-ABC-ESPN Television, the international TV channel and content distribution arm of The Walt Disney Company, and Portugal based Sonaecom have concluded a transactional video on demand agreement for current and library features for the Portuguese telco’s Clix SmarTV IPTV service.



    With this multi-year deal, viewers will be able to stream the latest features, plus a selection of library titles, to rent. New features in this agreement include the critically acclaimed Disney/Pixar animation “WALL-E,” “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” and There Will Be Blood.



    This deal was concluded by Disney-ABC-ESPN Television manager new media distribution Karen Wrankmore, Disney-ABC-ESPN Television manager programme distribution Marta Ezpeleta, and Sonaecom IPTV marketing director Susana Barbato.



    Disney-ABC-ESPN Television SVP new media distribution Maria Kyriacou commented, “This deal is in line with our focus on working with select new media platforms to expand international distribution of our content, bringing it to viewers in flexible ways, and will offer Clix SmartTV customers easy, on-demand access to some of the most talked-about features of this year.”



    Barbato said, “the deal will contribute to our strategy of building a diversified and quality driven, on-demand product which will satisfy consumer needs and trends of personalisation and control, by giving them the content they need, when they need it and where they need it.”

  • Disney-ABC-ESPN Television, Prima TV enter into multi-genre content deal

    MUMBAI: Disney-ABC-ESPN Television and Prima TV have entered into a multi-genre content deal in Mipcom. Movies like 101 Dalmations, Sleeping Beauty, The Incredibles

    , The Jungle Book and Disney Channel original movies High School Musical, High School Musical 2 and Camp Rock will be aired in the Saturday slot “Wonderful World of Disney” on Prima TV.

    Each film will be preceded by an introduction filmed in Disneyland Resort Paris and starring Prima TV anchor Virgil Iantu and his daughter.



    In addition, Prima TV has licensed movies for general broadcast on its channels, including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Flightplan and Starsky & Hutch.



    Various ABC Studios series will be launched including Brothers & Sisters, Private Practice and new seasons of Desperate Housewives.



    Prima TV has also licensed Disney animated series including Tarzan and Lilo & Stitch for its channels.



    Disney-ABC-ESPN Television SVP programme distribution EMEA (South) Francesca Tauriello said, “The Wonderful World of Disney showcases some of Disney’s most loved new and classic features, and we’re delighted to be working with Prima TV to bring more Disney magic to viewers in this key growth market.”

  • Disney inks deal with Microsoft for 2 comedy series







    MUMBAI: Disney-ABC-ESPN Television has signed a deal with Microsoft for two short-form comedy series which will be distributed on MSN Video across Europe.


    Squeegees and Voicemail series is from Disney‘s Stage 9 Digital Media.



    The shows make their debut in the UK today. It will also be released in France, Germany, Spain and Sweden shortly.


    Squeegees is set among a group of window washers in New York, while Voicemail provides an insight into the life of a male slacker through his phone messages.


    Disney-ABC-ESPN has also completed an advertising video-on-demand agreement for season three of Ugly Betty with Canada‘s CityTV Network.


    It also announced multiple content deals with Poland‘s free television network TVP for shows including Lost, Camp Rock, High School Musical and, for the first time in Poland, Pixar‘s 14 short films.
