    Sab TV opens its mini-series ‘Khidki’ from 28 June

    MUMBAI: Tell your funny story and relive it along with the world all over again on television! Sony SAB will now give a sneak peek into the funny incidences of the lives of their viewers with its new show, Khidki. The show’s concept revolves around stories that have been sent in by viewers all over India. Some of these select stories are being adapted into mini-series of episodes for the small screen. Khidki is slated to go on air onTuesday, 28th of June 2016, every Monday to Friday, 21:30 hours only on Sony SAB.

    The channel in partnership with well-known television producer JD Majethia and Bollywood director Umesh Shukla of Oh My God fame had called in for entries for the show in the month of March 2016. Over 8000 entries have been received by the channel, of which, some of the shortlisted stories are now ready to be presented to the world.

    The show will have a set of recurring actors like veteran Sarita Joshi, Rajeev Mehta, Lubna Salim, Aishwarya Sakhuja to name a few who will portray different characters in different stories, along with narration by JD Majethia, who is also the host of the show. Each story will be weaved into episodes designed to last for minimum of three to eight episodes, depending on the length of each story.

    SAB TV senior EVP and business head Anooj Kapoor said, “We at SAB have always brought unique and different concepts for our viewers. With this project we are opening the doors to those Indian families who want to share their funny stories with the world. SAB TV will provide a platform on which these stories which will be showcased, a new story every week.”

    Zeel ties with Dish and Sling TV to expand reach in US

    MUMBAI:  Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) announced a landmark agreement with Dish and Sling TV to further strengthen its presence in the US Territory the media conglomerate announced in a release.  As a part of the agreement, Dish and Sling TV will carry 27 new channels in addition to the existing 10 Zee channels, which will be available in varied languages like Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Bhojpuri, Oriya, Rajasthani and Urdu. Post this alliance, the total number of Zee channels available in the US market will be 37 with a combined reach of 52 million or 5.2 crore homes (that includes English and Spanish HHs).

    Further, Sling TV and Dish will be the ‘exclusive provider’ in the US of Zee’s premium on-demand library, which includes movies and over 400 additional popular video titles.  Over time, Sling TV will become the exclusive over-the-top (OTT) provider in the US for all but one of Zee’s South Asian channels. In the coming months, Zee will transition viewers from its direct-to-consumer services to Sling TV or to authenticated access only.

    Speaking on the partnership, Zeel CEO of International Broadcast Business, Amit Goenka said, “America is one of the most important markets for our International business. The deal with Dish further consolidates our leadership position and is in line with our ambitious 2020 goals. We are very delighted to announce that with this deal not only has our reach in the Mainstream American market for our Z Living network quadrupled, but we will also now be serving the high potential Spanish language subscribers with two 24×7 networks. With this deal we will cater to 16 different language groups in America across 5 genres. Zee and Dish have been natural partners for the last 18 years and we both share our vision on future growth of pay TV in USA.”

    “Our agreement with Zee enables us to provide a vast amount of entertainment to fans of South Asian content, while also giving customers a more streamlined way to access and enjoy both linear and on-demand content,” said Sling TV & Dish senior vice President of Programming Chris Kuelling. “Zee shares our goal of growing the South Asian market, and together we are able to better serve this community, as well as the other language groups served by Zee.”

    To broaden the options available to fans of South Asian content, Sling TV and Dish are launching a new ‘Hindi Gold Pack,’ which will contain all of the Zee Hindi channels, plus other leading Hindi channels. In addition, &TV, one of the most requested Hindi channels by current Sling TV and Dish customers, will be added to the existing lineup. Zee’s on-demand content will be available at no additional charge to Dish and Sling TV subscribers with the Hindi Gold Pack.

    Dish and Sling TV will also add two Spanish-language channels, Z Living Español and Zee TV Español, and two Brazilian channels, Zee TV Portuguese and Z Living Portuguese, to their respective line-ups.  The new Spanish channels can be found on Dish in the DishLATINO Clasico, DishLATINO Dos, DishLATINO Plus and DishLATINO Max packages, and the Best of Spanish TV package on Sling Latino.

    At the zenith of his stardom, action star Cheng Feng is put to challenge by an American actor Peter who is skilled in real martial arts. Cheng ends up losing much more than the fight and his career starts spiraling downward. Unwilling to give up, Cheng resorts to arduous martial arts training in oblivion. After a year of relentless learning, Cheng returns to reclaim all that’s his. But with Peter, it’s a fight to finish.

    Directed by Dragon Chen, Kung Fu Fighter makes for an interesting watch with martial arts techniques and a gripping storyline.

The production house began its journey of the island nation on 11 June. Sarah Khan, Surbhi Jyoti and Jai Soni will be the new explorers of the Taiwan edition along with Sukirti Kandpal, Vrushika Mehta and Kishwar Merchant from the Jordan series.

    The Taiwan sojourn will be a 10 episodic series and will go live inline from mid-July on in-house YouTube channel. The Hindi travel show will focus on how a country can have different facets for different characters.

    The makers of Desi Explorers say that their team will be exploring Taiwan from north to south for 12 days. Some of the iconic sites that will be covered include Sun Moon Lake, Taroko National Park, Hualien and Taitung among others.

    Marinating Films producer Sunny Arora says, “Desi Explorers will give an insight about the countries that our team will travel and the celebrities they travel with. The viewers will get to explore a very different side of their favourite celebrities”

    The production house asserts that the Taiwan edition will be a journey that will stand out in the content flow of the digital world. It also has plans to take Desi Explorers to many other countries.

    Marinating Films has tied up with the Taiwan Tourism Board. On the promotion front, as in the Jordan season, the team is being accompanied by India TV and ABP News this season also. The making will be featured on popular shows Saas Bahu aur Saazish and Saas Bahu Suspense. Apart from news channels, the series will be pushed on celebrity social media platforms and the digital space. There is also an e-travelogue planned after the season which will be available to read online.

    Also, as in the Jordan series, the Taiwan series will also be shot with Canon 5D Mark III cameras’. The series is being directed by Prakash Kunjal and produced by Sunny Arora. The makers claim that this series has already cost close to Rs 1 crore.

    Marinating Films is rolling out trailers of the Jordan journey, while the episodes will go online every Friday.
