    Fox starts live streaming prime time entertainment programmes

    MUMBAI: It’s one of the major broadcast networks in the US. But the Twenty First Century Fox owned Fox is now haring into live streaming its prime time entertainment programmes on its website and apps for mobile consumers, becoming the first US major to do so.

    The snag: viewers all over the US need a valid pay TV subscription – either cable TV or satellite and have to use their TV everywhere log in from the provider to be able to watch the live streams. Fox pointed out that around 96 million Americans using pay TV will have access to this service.

    The offer started with the hit series So You Think it Can dance: The next generation which users could watch on Fox.com and on Fox Now on their PCs, their iPhones, iPads, Android devices, Rokus, Kindle Fire, Apple TV and ChromeCast, simultaneously as live broadcast television.

    Local Fox affiliates could insert local market advertising and display station branding in the live streams.

    “From the start of the on-demand and over-the-top viewing revolution, Fox has been at the forefront of providing greater access to our buzz-defining shows, like “Empire,” “Lucifer, “Scream Queens” and “Family Guy,” said Fox Television Group chairman and CEOs Diana Walden and Gary Newman. “Adding nationwide primetime live streams is just another great example of how the Fox Digital Consumer Group, under Brian Sullivan’s leadership, is innovating to give viewers the convenience and flexibility to watch our programming whenever and wherever they want.”

    MUMBAI: This week on Facebook Live, fans of the award-winning series MR. ROBOT witnessed a widespread global marketing stunt courtesy Colors Intinity. For the unique, coordinated campaign, the show’s iconic fsociety “hacked” the MR. ROBOT Facebook page between 1.30AM IST and 7.30PM IST on July 8, to issue a global message against Evil Corp and deliver rants from “fsociety members,” who subscribe to the group’s tenets and mission.

    The international movement kicked off in the United States and then rolled out across 12 countries including the U.K., Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Canada, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and India — all of which will premiere Mr. Robot’s second season next week.

    While the distinct rants are tonally and thematically similar, each propaganda message was customized by country and delivered in the region’s native tongue. All rants began with the same declaration: “Brothers and sisters, we are fsociety,” an expression of their unified mission — and closed with their hope for the future, “Together we can build a new world where we are finally free.”

    Following each Facebook Live rant, a two minute clip from the series’ July 14 Season 2 premiere was unveiled to fans. The clip featured a flashback of stars Rami Malek and Martin Wallström minutes before their characters, Elliot and Tyrell Wellick, executed the five/nine hack on Evil Corp.

    Viacom18 programming head of English entertainment Hashim D’Souza said, “Passionate fans around the globe have embraced the spirit of MR. ROBOT, and we were excited to have India as part of this phenomenon. The fan fervor and interest in the show inspired us to be part of this coordinated global campaign around the second season premiere. Adding to the excitement, week-on-week fans in India will get to watch their favorite show immediately after its US telecast through Instant Premiere on the channel starting with a 2-hour special premiere episode.”

    The multiple award-winning and critically acclaimed drama MR. ROBOT was one of the most buzzed about series of 2015. The second season of Mr. Robot is all set to premiere with two back-to-back episodes on Thursday, July 14 at 12 noon only on Colors Infinity.

    MUMBAI: Keshet International (KI) has sold the VH1 youth reality show Walk of Shame Shuttle (13 x 30’) to leading Australian free-to-air channel, SBS 2.

    Originally commissioned by VH1 US and produced by award winning Brian Graden Media (Hit Record, Todrick and Lance Loves Michael), Walk of Shame Shuttle features hilarious, candid taxicab confessions of late night revelers on their way home “the morning after”. The show’s initial US run was seen by 4.5 million viewers in the US (P2 + Live 7).

    SBS 2 channel manager John Beohm said, “Walk of Shame Shuttle hilariously captures the irreverent tone and provocative conversations that SBS 2 looks to inspire. The series is already lighting up social media each Tuesday night demonstrating its popularity with our cross-platform audience, and with the whole series available to binge on SBS On-Demand, we’re giving our audiences the chance to catch this truly unique show on their own terms.”

    The deal was brokered by Kelly Wright, Head of Latin America and Executive Advisor Asia Pacific, SBS has previously acquired KI’s archaeological thriller DIG and the multi-award-winning drama Prisoners of War. The Walk of Shame Shuttleservice is the brainchild of undergrad-turned-entrepreneur Kellyann Wargo, who saw a money-making opportunity to provide real-life partygoers with an affordable ride home the morning after. The series sees Wargo or her fellow drivers (Jordan Pease and Michelle Collins) collect and drive revelers home while rigged cameras capture their hilarious stories and exploits from the night’s festivities.
