    AXN brings season 11 of ‘The Voice’

    MUMBAI: The singing reality show The Voice is returning with a new season to its home channel, AXN. With some of the strongest vocalists from across the country, the new season will begin from 24 September and will be aired every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm.

    The Voice season 11 format features five stages of competition: the blind auditions, the battle rounds, the knockouts, the live playoffs and, finally, the live performance shows.

    Singing sensations Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys join judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton this season.

    The judges will also be supported by a new panel of mentors. Shelton will get help from Bette Midler whereas Levine’s team will be working with Sammy Haggar. Cyrus will get tips from Joan Jett and Keys will be assisted by Charlie Puth to aid her team.

    Created by John de Mol and directed by Alan Carter, the show has won several accolades in the past.

    MUMBAI: It was an incredible night for the Star English Entertainment Network at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards as its shows bagged a whopping 34 awards at the ceremony! The Emmys stood testimony to the fact that only does the Star English Entertainment Network strive to entertain its audiences in India but also endeavours to offer them with the best of English content.

    Having won top honours across mostly all the key categories, technical and creative, the network boasts of showcasing the best shows in the English Entertainment genre, be it drama, comedy or action in India!

    Shows, Game of Thrones of Thrones and Veep, that air on Star World Premiere HD in India made Emmy History this year with the former winning a total of 12 awards making it 38 awards over the years – the most awarded TV show since 1949. Veep, on the other hand, broke the record of most Emmys won by a lead actress in the Comedy Genre as the queen of comedy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus won her 5th consecutive award in the category for the show this year. Another show that also premiered in India on Star World Premiere HD, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, won a staggering total of 9 awards at the Emmys with first time nominee and winner, Sterling K Brown receiving a standing ovation from the audiences at the ceremony! Game of Thrones and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story dominated the awards scene, grabbing the highest number of Emmy awards this year.

    Other shows premiered and telecast by the Star English Entertainment Network in India that also received their much-deserved recognition and awards were Downton Abbey that said its final goodbye at the Emmys this year,American Horror Story: Hotel, The Americans, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Baskets!

    All the formats have been designed to elicit a lot of excitement and drama for the viewer’s globally. Ease in execution is another advantage for broadcasters looking to produce these formats.

    MUMBAI: The HBO fantasy drama, Game of Thrones (GoT) has broken records by winning a total of 38 awards at the 68th annual Emmy Awards. The previous all-time record holder, Frasier, had pocketed 37 awards.

    GoT has picked up awards for best writing in a drama series, best directing in a drama series, and best drama on Sunday night. The series became the most-honored drama series after winning nine Emmys at the Creative Arts ceremony, surpassing longtime title holders Hill Street Blues and The West Wing.

    It has only been on six seasons, while Fraiser was on for 11 which makes it stand out.

Airing on 25 September at 3 pm, the classic is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Paul Gallic.

    The film gained the stature of being a modern classic and the foremost disaster movies everyone is a fan of. Set on a retiring ocean liner making its last voyage, The Poseidon Adventure tells the story of a New Year’s Eve celebration that gets interrupted by the sinking of a ship. The film is a high stakes story of survival and it’s no surprise why it’s such a success.

    Taglined ‘Hell, upside down’, the film was the second-biggest-grossing blockbuster at the time of its release in 1972 and introduced several elements to the disaster formula that would become standard in later films in the genre. A cult classic like no other, the film brought forth a number of death defying stunts and scenes that were way beyond its time and still applauded its tale of survival
