  • FremantleMedia to handle global rights to IMR TV format co-developed with Future Group

    MUMBAI: FremantleMedia has unveiled the first look at the ground-breaking ‘Lost in Time’, a newly-developed, entertainment format created in collaboration with The Future Group.

    The format will be showcased to buyers at MIPTV. The Norwegian series is due to launch on TV Norge on 25 March.

    Using Interactive Mixed Reality (IMR), Lost in Time follows three contestants as they are transported into different eras including the Wild West, Ice Age, Medieval age and the Jurassic period where they compete in a series of epic challenges against the clock with the aim of winning one jackpot prize. The fast-paced entertainment show will keep viewers on the edge of their seats as they watch the contests battle it out to be crowned Champion.

    Viewers can also be taken to the Lost in Time virtual world where they are able to play against the show contestants and players from across the country in real-time with the chance to win prizes through an iOS or Android app – a first-ever blending of primetime TV and mobile entertainment.

    Lost in Time is set to push the boundaries of television as we know it by incorporating real-time special effects pioneered in The Matrix that bring a feature film experience to the TV.

    Produced in partnership with Norway-based IMR pioneer The Future Group, the initial version of Lost in Time will be hosted by Fridtjof Nilsen.

  • Broadcasters celebrate Women’s Day in a special way

    MUMBAI: On International Women’s Day, all the broadcasters have decided to bring something exciting for the women in the world. The channels have planned special programming for the entire day. On one hand, some have lined up some exciting shows for women, on the other some, broadcasters have come up with a new anthem or a campaign. 

    Comedy Central

    Comedy Central is all sleeves up to celebrate the “X” chromosome with our Women’s Day Stunt. This Woman’s Day, Comedy Central wants to show ‘Who Run The World’ with our fierce line-up of badass women with shows like Angie Tribeca, FRIENDS, and Playing House. The show will be aired on 8 March.

    AXN 

    To celebrate this success and empowerment of women in every walk of life, AXN presents the story of a powerful woman, Elizabeth McCord, who is trying to balance her demanding career of a U.S. Secretary of State and her family. The season will be aired on 11 and 12 March from 12 – 5 pm.

    In a bid to celebrate women, out in the real world, Star World Premiere HD channel, on the occasion of International Women’s Day is all set to run a marathon of one of the most critically acclaimed new age television sitcoms of 2016 – Better Things all day on Wedneday.

    Helmed by the renowned comedian Louie C.K., the series stars Pamela Adlon in the role of a single mother who tries to balance her family life, her work and in all this tries to find some time for her own personal life. Her journey embodies the lives of women around the world who take up various responsibilities and juggle with the chaos that comes with it on a daily basis.

    NDTV Good Times 

    NDTV Good Times has joined hands with Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha to release a special Women’s Day anthem to re-enforce the sentiment that women have been an equal and integral part in changing the world, and how they are a constant part of this evolution.

    “Sonakshi is an ideal person for this initiative as she connects with youth in India and her journey inspires many young girls to believe in themselves, speak their mind and achieve their dreams. NDTV Good Times has always respected the contribution of the fairer gender and through this anthem, we acknowledge the same”, said NDTV Good Times channel head Arati Singh. 

    The special anthem video will be released on 7 March 2017 on NDTV Good Times channel and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube channel.

    Romedy Now

    The channel has planned to celebrate International Women’s Day in a rather unique manner this year. Supporting the channel’s belief of spreading love throughout the year, it plans to launch a campaign #ThanksButNoThanks! which is an idea to celebrate the spirit of womanhood and one’s own existence everyday instead of waiting for someone else or a special day to get appreciated. 

    The channel has shot a video for the campaign that will be a montage of different women from different walks of lives coming together and expressing themselves. These women include some of the most commendable names like reality show contestant Priya Malik, melodious singer Jonita Gandhi, notable women from the field of journalism, advertising and fashion designing, including Cuckoo – Club co-founder Sharin Bhatti, & Books on Toast Entrepreneur. The channel will launch this video on its social media platform on 7 March, a day prior to International Women’s Day.

  • Zee Cafe leads, FX replaces Colors Infinity in Top 5

    MUMBAI: Colors Infinity this week dropped out of the Top 5 English Entertainment genre channels’ list making way for the entry of FX. The other players observed mixed viewership this week. Zee Café dominated the genre.

    In the English Movies space, Movies Now 2 departed from the Top 5 bracket leading to the entry of Zee Studio. Players in the space also witnessed mixed ratings this week.

    According to the week 8 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, History TV18 was at the number one position in the infotainment genre.

    Living Foodz continued to dominate the Lifestyle space, with the channels observing decrease in its ratings this week except TLC.

    English Entertainment

    Zee Café toppled Star World taking the first position with 275 Impressions (‘000s). Star World came to the second place with 232 Impressions (‘000s). Comedy Central sustained its third position with 230 Impressions (‘000s) whereas FX took the fourth place with 127 Impressions (‘000s). AXN continued at the fifth rank with 113 Impressions (‘000s).

    English Movies

    Star Movies dominated the genre this week with 2639 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Movies Now with 2636 Impressions (‘000s). Sony Pix with 1883 Impressions (‘000s) grabbed the third position followed by HBO at the fourth position with 1556 Impressions (‘000s). Zee Studio took the fifth place with 1320 Impressions (‘000s).

    Infotainment

    History TV18 hoped to the first spot with 5567 Impressions (‘000s).  Discovery Channel took the second spot with 4897 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet was at the third spot with 3082 Impressions (‘000s). National Geographic Channel stood at the fourth position with 2917 Impressions (‘000s) while, Nat Geo Wild was at the fifth place with 2851 Impressions (‘000s)

    Lifestyle

    Living Foodz sustained its number one position with decrease in its ratings from 1599 Impressions (‘000s) in week 7 to 1383 Impressions (‘000s) this week. Fox Life stood at the second berth with 946 Impressions (‘000s) followed by FYI TV18 with 796 Impressions (‘000s). TLC with 643 Impressions (‘000s) and Food Food with 631 Impressions (‘000s) bagged the fourth and fifth position, respectively.

  • Colors Infinity action-packed line-up for this summer

    MUMBAI: This summer, Colors Infinity takes on the bad guys with an action-packed line-up of programming. Following the premiere of The Blacklist: Redemption, the channel will add two new shows – Taken and Shades of Blue to its list of Instant Premieres.

    Viacom18 head of programming English Entertainment Hashim Dsouza said, “At Colors Inifnity we realize that the consumption pattern of the viewers is varied. There is a definite need of providing the consumer with the hottest new blockbusters, Instantly! And we continue to entertain our audience with just that, premiering the highly anticipated franchises of Taken and The Blacklist: Redemption along with the popular returning series Shades of Blue, to our line-up of ‘Instant Premieres’.”

    Reprising her role of a Brooklyn good-cop-gone-bad Jennifer Lopez is back as Harlee Santos in the second season of Shades of Blue. The second season takes off from the cliffhanger season 1 finale where Harlee fiercely overpowers her attacker attempting to rape her.

    Taken brings to light the uncovered past covert life of retired CIA operative Bryan Mills portrayed by Liam Neeson in the super-hit franchise, Taken. Playing the role of the younger Agent Bryan Mills at his CIA career, Clive Standentakes action to a new level in the upcoming show.

    Voted as one of the most-awaited spin-off series, The Blacklist: Redemption, follows former Blacklister turned good guy, covert operative Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) joining forces with Susan “Scottie” Hargrave (Famke Janssen) and Matias Solomon (Edi Gathegi) to tackle missions too dangerous for the US government.

    I. Taken

    As former CIA agent Bryan Mills deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world, he fights to overcome the incident and exact revenge. The show airs on Tuesday at 8 pm.

    II. Shades of Blue – Season 2

    The series follows Lopez as a single mother and a cop. Her commanding officer, played by Liotta, does not do things by the book, and the FBI has their eyes on him. At the start of the season, Lopez’s character is taken in by the FBI, and she is forced to spy on her boss.

    The end of season one ended with a lot of unanswered questions and a new problem for Lopez’s character to face. The show will air on 6 March at 8 pm.

    III. The Blacklist: Redemption

    In the premiere of the all new show, The Blacklist: Redemption, catch what happens when Tom Keen, a secret agent, teams up with the leader of a mercenary organization to deal with severe criminal cases that are too risky to be handled by the government. The show airs every Friday at 8 pm.

  • AXN to premiere ‘The Voice’ s12

    MUMBAI: It’s time we move from stunts to saxophones, action to accordion, and thrill to trumpets with the most awaited music reality show.

    AXN is back with the latest season of the popular singing reality competition The Voice. Season 12 premieres from 4 March, every Saturday – Sunday at 8 pm.

    The three-time Grammy Award winner Gwen Stefani will accompany Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton in this season.

    The show’s innovative format features five stages of talent competition: the first being the blind auditions, followed by the battle rounds, the knockouts, the live playoffs and finally the live performance shows.

  • Pete Holmes makes his way to Star World Premiere HD with ‘Crashing’

    MUMBAI: Star World Premiere HD, India’s leading English entertainment channel is known for handpicking some of the most award-winning, star-studded and critically acclaimed shows on television today. Subsequently, he moves out of the suburbs to double down on trying to make it as a comic in New York City leading to hilarious sequences on the show as was the case in his real life.

    Renowned comedians – T.J. Miller of Silicon Valley fame and Sarah Silverman also appear on the series as guest stars.

  • MN+ to air its Oscar special property ‘The Academy Club’

    MUMBAI: MN+ is all geared up to air their Oscar special property The Academy Club that will leave the movie lover ecstatic with cinematic brilliance. The channel will air this property on 25 and 26 February, throughout the day.

    The line-up of movies on this channel will include movies that defined cinema and those that demand repeat-viewing for the sheer quality of the direction, writing, cinematography and performances.     MUMBAI: Horror flicks never go out of fashion. And, if it has ghosts with a funny bone, you are in for a treat. Sony Pix is all set to premiere the cult Ghost-comedy film Ghostbusters on 26 February at 1 pm and 9 pm.

    A laughter riot, the supernatural film is directed by the comedy master Paul Feig.
