    FX premieres the final season 6 of hit TV series ‘Community’!

    MUMBAI: The ultimate dose of summery fun and comedy is here and unstoppable as the final season of the hit American comedy TV series ‘Community’ makes its way to Indian television. The show that won immense critical acclaim and love from its fans and audience returns with its sixth season and promises to share a lot more laughs than before.

    With some more meticulously sharp writing and enthused story ideas, Community Season 6 will premiere this 7 April at 8:30 PM on FX and FX HD and will continue to air every day from Monday to Friday at the same time.

    Starring a choicest group of actors – Joel McHale (of Spider-man 2 and The X-Files: Event Series fame),Alison Brie (of Mad Men fame), Ken Jeong (of The Hangover Series fame), Jim Rash (of The Descendants fame), Gillian Jacobs (of Made in Cleveland fame) and Danny Pudi, Community revolves around a lawyer (played by Joel McHale), whose law degree has been revoked and is compelled to join the Greendale Community College. Soon, students of diverse temperaments join his study group which leads to quirky and memorable encounters. Each season follows the lives they lead and the struggles they face as they continue to study at the community college together.

    Unlike most other comedies, Community is one of the most self-referential shows in TV history and truly tickles the funny bone with its source material focused around the concept of college life.

    MUMBAI: Viacom 18 has launched the first edition of its home grown singing reality show The Stage tour. Starting from Chennai on 6 April, concluding in Mumbai on 21 April, the tour will include the winner and top contestant from the first season performing live across cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Shillong and Pune.      

    The artists travelling in ‘The Stage Tour’ wagon include winner Yatharth Ratnum, along with popular Indie faces Soundarya Jayachandran, Kenishaa Francis, Anushka Shahane and Rupin Pahwa.

    Viacom18 youth and English entertainment head & EVP Ferzad Palia said,  “With The Stage we gave the English music talent of India a platform for the first time. Now we are taking the best of that talent across the country to 8 cities to perform live. They have wooed India with their musical prowess before, and I am certain that they will receive immense appreciation this time around as well. We are extremely excited about the tour and hope that our viewers will enjoy the experience.”

    Soundarya Jayachandran recorded a single called “I Don’t Need Nobody” in collaboration with Qyuki – an initiative by Shekhar Kapoor and A. R. Rahman that promotes artists, musicians, photography and more. A. R. Rahman himself later recommended and promoted the song on social media.

    The versatile artist Anushka Shahaney has signed a deal with EMI Music. The winner of the show, Yatharth Ratnum bagged the lead role in ‘Blue Mountains’, a film that also won the ‘Best Feature Film’ at the Asian Panorama International Film Festival. Yatharth has also lent his voice to four tracks in the film. This eclectic mix of young talent will be performing at various venues as part of the journey of The Stage Tour.

    MUMBAI: Home to the best English entertainment, Star World and Star World HD is all set to premiere season 2 of the award-winning series How To Get Away With Murder starting 5 April at 9 pm every Monday to Friday. The show stars Viola Davis who will be reprising her Emmy® Award winning role as Annalise Keating.

    Drama revolving around autism wins attention – and a place in Cannes

    MUMBAI: The A Word, a series revolving around autism. by Fifty Fathoms and Keshet International and aired on BBC One on 22 March at 9.00 pm claimed a viewership of an average 4.7 million viewers which went up to 5 million in the final 15 minutes.

    The numbers were double that of the competition on ITV1 and Channel 4 and 1.2% above the average annual share for the slot. It is based on the original Israeli drama Yellow Peppers by Keren Margalit who is also executive producer on the UK series.

    Directed by Peter Cattaneo and written by Peter Bowker, the series has also been selected as one of the 12 high-end drama series to make an international debut at the inaugural MIP Drama screenings on 3 April. The series will be the first of all the dramas to debut at JW Marriot Hotel in Cannes from 10.10 am.

    The impact of the premiere was also demonstrated through social media activity which revealed a nationwide conversation about viewers’ emotional response to the series, which was also trending on Twitter in the United Kingdom.

    Bowker is a multiple BAFTA winner and Golden Globe nominee (Marvellous, Blackpool.) Cattaneo is an Oscar nominee and BAFTA winner (The Full Monty Rev).

    The A Word is a smart, contemporary drama about a messy, extended family with Joe, a child with autism, which is unable to communicate because of a gulf between their deepest feelings and how they express them.

    Alison played by Morven Christie and Paul Hughes enacted by Lee Ingleby are a mid-30s couple building a life in the Lake District for themselves and their two children. They live in close proximity to their extended family which includes Nicola played by Vinette Robinson and Steve enacted by Greg McHugh who are grappling with unfaithfulness in their marriage. Maurice played by Chris Eccleston plays a recent widower who is owner of the family brewery.

    MUMBAI: Garry Emmanuel Shandling, the famous American comedian, actor, writer, producer and director has died at the age of 66. Born in Chicago, the comedian was known for his neurotic observational humour, particularly about romantic relationships and his lancing of showbiz in his inventive TV shows.

    Los Angeles Police Department Officer Rosario Herrera has confirmed his death but the cause of death was not mentioned.

    Shandling is best known for his work in It’s Garry Shandling’s Show and The Larry Sanders Show. It’s Garry Shandling’s Show was created in 1986 and aired on premium cable satellite television network Showtime while The Larry Sanders Show was created in 1992 and aired on HBO. He was also a formidable host. Shandling hosted the Grammys in 1990, 1993 and 1994, and the Emmys in 2000 and 2004.

    Shandling has won the Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding writing for a comedy series in 1998. During his three-decade career, Shandling was nominated for 19 Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards, along with many other awards and nominations.
