  • Anurag Thakur, Sachin Pilot, Sidharth Malhotra and other youth icons at NDTV’s Yuva Conclave

Anurag Thakur, Sachin Pilot, Sidharth Malhotra and other youth icons at NDTV’s Yuva Conclave

Mumbai: NDTV’s Yuva conclave brought together India’s youth icons on one stage, for special conversations about leveraging youth to foster change. Union minister Anurag Thakur led the power-packed line-up that included Congress leader Sachin Pilot and actor Sidharth Malhotra.

A special interaction and question and answer session with Anurag Thakur kicked off the daylong conclave.

What is it to work with prime minister Narendra Modi, the union minister was asked. “My boss, prime minister Narendra Modi, is the best. He is the strictest at work but kindest when it comes to citizens,” Thakur said, drawing loud applause.

“If you have a boss who hasn’t taken a single holiday in 23 years, even when his mother passed away, that is the type of commitment the PM has”.

India’s youth, the minister said, stands for “positive energy, inspiration, passion, and motivation”.

Thakur also spoke about 18kaVote, NDTV’s mission to make the youth – especially those who have just turned 18 and eligible to vote in their first election – aware of the need to vote.

Fielding a wide range of questions, the union information and broadcasting minister also spoke about what the opposition alleges is persecution by probe agencies, restrictions on media and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) report on the bleak job situation in India.

“The questions show you can ask anything to the minister on National TV. You may not be able to do so in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia. We still have a slavery mentality because we always depended on foreign ratings. We need to come out of it and trust organisations in our country,” he said.

Wrapping the session, the minister took a selfie with his young audience.

Later, Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot, who debuted as an MP at the age of 26, spoke about encouraging youth in politics.

Political parties prefer winnability over youth, and people were also inclined towards voting veterans and known players, Sachin Pilot noted, adding that a change in this thinking would take time.

Pilot also responded to a question on Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate and the row over objectionable comments on BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut posted on her handle.

“No one has the right to make personal attacks or character assassination, it is important to focus on issues,” said the former Rajasthan deputy chief minister.

Actor Sidharth Malhotra, our Yuva Yodha, said he believed mental health is a formidable challenge for the youth. Giving tips on handling stress, he said yoga helps. “Stress is something which is unavoidable. We are giving exams every Friday (movies releases). It never ends. It’s how you deal with it. You have to be in your lane and focus on yourself. Focusing on oneself is most important for success. Following my own path has worked. There is no point in having wild case scenarios,” he said.

“Focus is key. Yoga has helped me. It helps you centre.”

Alaya F, our actor disruptor, the daughter of actor Pooja Bedi and the granddaughter of another actor, Kabir Bedi, shared what she called her “privileged struggles” in making it in films. “Nepotism also has its limitations. It will get me into rooms. But then no one will give me movies just because of that. I was being tested for a year and half before I landed my first role,” she said.

NDTV Network’s revenue head Mandeep Singh commented “NDTV has been always known for its purposeful initiatives that disrupt the way news impacts lives of people and communities. Yuva is one such incredible initiative that makes its grand comeback.

YUVA embodies the idea of young people actively engaging in efforts to bring about positive transformations in their communities and beyond. It highlights the role of youth as catalysts for social, political, and environmental progress, using their voices, creativity, and energy to address pressing issues and advocate for meaningful change.

We wanted to celebrate this along with like-minded partner brands who saw huge potential in this endeavour.

We had Panasonic, Motorola, Rungta Steel, KP Foods, Sakarni, Canara Bank, HDRC Life, Rama University, and Solo Files backing us in this season of NDTV Yuva.

We will make this franchise far larger in times to come.”

Other highlights of the event included Gaurav Kapoor’s stand-up, and performances by musicians Akshay and IP Singh and Jasleen Royal.

A session on mental health saw an expert panel comprising Dr Amit Sen, Amrita Tripathi, Divija Bhasin, and Kairavi Bharat Ram discussing the challenges faced by the youth.

  • Mallikarjun Kharge at ABP ‘Shikhar Sammelan’: BJP repeats lies until they are believed as truth

Mallikarjun Kharge at ABP ‘Shikhar Sammelan’: BJP repeats lies until they are believed as truth

Mumbai: Congress leader and leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge candidly addressed critical issues and priorities facing the nation in an insightful session at the ABP ‘Shikhar Sammelan’. Speaking about Bharatiya Janata Party, Mallikarjun Kharge said, “BJP repeats lies until they are believed as truth. Many promises like two crore jobs, 15 lakh rupees, double MSP for farmers, and increased scholarships for students remain unfulfilled. Modi ji is a marketing genius, focusing solely on infrastructure while ignoring unemployment. We must check ground realities, not just believe TV ads.”

“Congress is not in the habit of telling lies. In India, where there was no power to produce a needle, we made rockets here. We fought with Pakistan, and liberated Bangladesh,” he added.

Kharge on BJP’s accusations of corruption and nepotism in Congress, commented, “BJP cleans its image using a ‘washing machine’ when caught in scandals. After 1989, no family members from the Gandhi family has become prime minister, chief minister, or held significant positions. BJP’s attacks a family that sacrificed their lives for the country. Youngsters don’t know why Indira Gandhi was killed. They just know what Modi is saying and believe that. The Congress party built India’s foundations; BJP just advertises on clean sheets.”

Reflecting upon Congress’ handling of election pressure, Kharge said, “If faced with unlawful actions, we must resist to protect fundamental rights and democracy. BJP leaders like Nirmala Sitharaman (minister of finance of India) claim financial shortages despite massive donations. They target the opposition with penalties, locking our accounts, and creating an unfair playing field. Modi ji’s priorities seem to be misplaced, focusing on trivial matters while ignoring serious issues like law and order problems in Manipur. BJP benefits most from electoral bonds and misuses institutions like ED and CBI. Their actions resemble deception rather than governance.”

Speaking about why many leaders from the opposition and Congress are joining the BJP, he said, “Some leaders leave despite getting what they want, showing they lack ideological commitment. Our focus is on uniting and strengthening India, regardless of the number of supporters.”

Speaking about the chances of the INDIA alliance winning the next election, Kharge said, “We acknowledge challenges in alliance management but emphasise unity for democracy’s sake. We are determined to win the necessary seats to defeat BJP’s dominance. We highlight BJP’s failures compared to our contributions post-independence. BJP’s promises like job creation and increased income for farmers remain unfulfilled, while they suppress dissent and focus on fear tactics. Our alliance prioritizes democracy, constitution, and citizens’ rights over personal ambitions. We aim to eradicate BJP’s ideology for a better India.”

The ‘Shikhar Sammelan’ crystallised ABP News’ unwavering commitment to invigorating democratic dialogue and fostering an informed electorate poised to shape the nation’s destiny. As the herald of democracy reverberates across the land, ABP News remains steadfast in its mission to illuminate the path forward, emboldening citizens with the power of knowledge and civic engagement.

  • Asianxt’s Mood of the Nation Survey shows advantage BJP in Lok Sabha Polls

Asianxt’s Mood of the Nation Survey shows advantage BJP in Lok Sabha Polls

Mumbai: The forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections are set to be a litmus test not just for the Bharatiya Janata Party but also, more importantly, for the Opposition. The INDI alliance is squaring off against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the collective might of the National Democratic Alliance.

The mega Mood of the Nation Survey conducted digitally by the Asianxt News Network shows that the Opposition has quite an uphill battle on its hands in the forthcoming elections. The extensive survey was conducted by Asianxt News Network’s digital platforms in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Bangla, and Marathi between March 13 and March 27 with a massive sample size of more than 7,59,340 respondents.

According to the survey, an overwhelming 51.1 percent of the respondents believe that the Narendra Modi government’s decision to notify the Citizenship Amendment Act rules will positively impact the BJP’s election prospects.  A further deep dive revealed that in the Hindi heartland 30.04 percent cited the fulfilment of the Ram Mandir promise as the Modi government’s biggest achievement.

As per the poll, Narendra Modi was voted as the top choice for the Prime Minister’s post with a majority vote of  51.06 percent.

A notable insight that emerged from the survey was that voters have shed the decades-old practice of falling for freebies and populist promises. An overwhelming 80.5 percent of the respondents stated that development — not caste dynamics, candidate profile, or freebies — will be the factor that determines their vote.  The survey significantly highlighted that 60.33 percent of respondents — even those in states not governed by the BJP — believe that the INDI alliance will not be able to overpower the Modi wave in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. The data revealed that 48.24 percent of the respondents believed that the Opposition’s biggest failure was three-pronged — lack of vision, lack of leadership, and having too many leaders with Prime Ministerial ambitions.

The survey also stated that more worrying prospects lie ahead for the Congress, which has, in recent weeks, seen a spate of resignations. It revealed that 54.76 percent of the respondents believe that former Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will not improve the party’s prospects in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024.

When asked in specific terms about who the respondents thought was better suited to govern India for the next five years, the mandate was one-sided with 78.6 percent opting for an NDA government while 21.4 percent rooted for the INDI alliance.

The 2024 Indian General Elections are set to commence on April 19 and will be conducted in seven phases till 1st June 2024, with the results scheduled to be announced on 4th June.

Asianxt Digital Technologies Pvt. Ltd. chairman Rajesh Kalra shared his takeaways from survey, stating, “Mood of the Nation clearly indicates that Indians from across the length and breadth of our country are taking a decisive stance going into this General Election. The survey is also testament to the reach and quality of Asianxt’s diverse audience base. Just look at the responses to the question on caste dynamics, candidate profile or whether freebies or development play a larger role in your vote. Responses were overwhelmingly in favour of development over gimmicks. It shows the maturity and coming of age of our digital readers.”

Asianxt Digital Technologies Pvt. Ltd. CEO Neeraj Kohli added, “Asianxt’s flagship digital news portal asianetnews.com has always been at the forefront of capturing the pulse of India. The depth of participation in the Mood of the Nation survey is testament to an engaged electorate restless for the nation’s continuing rise as a global leader. The survey paints a vivid picture of the varied aspirations of a Rising Bharat and its citizens. This is the one of many such initiatives that Asianxt will bring to its audiences through the election season.”

  • Rajnath Singh at ABP News ‘Shikhar Sammelan’: “We will win close to 27 seats in West Bengal”

Rajnath Singh at ABP News ‘Shikhar Sammelan’: “We will win close to 27 seats in West Bengal”

Mumbai: With the political discourse heating up across the nation  around the upcoming national elections, ABP News, one of India’s leading Hindi news channels, organised a thought-provoking ‘Shikhar Sammelan’ on 29 March at Hyatt Regency, Delhi. Hosting the tallest of the political leaders, the summit served as a crucible for incisive analysis and fervent debate, elucidating the contours of India’s democratic landscape.

Rajnath Singh asserted, “We will win 28 out of 28 seats in Karnataka. From the Southern States, people will vote for PM Modi in National Elections. They realize that India’s stature has become grander at the International Level. We will win close to 27 seats in West Bengal, and will sweep Bihar.”

Responding to whether China has occupied Indian territory in North East, Rajnath Singh, said, “India is not considered a weak nation anymore. We have emerged as an important global power.  I would like to assure all Indians that no one can harm India’s interests today. Dialogue is happening between China and India. Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will remain India’s integral part.”

Regarding Jammu and Kashmir, Rajnath Singh remarked, “Soon there will not be a need for AFSPA in Jammu and Kashmir and we will reduce the troops deployed there.”

Addressing several questions around electoral bonds, Rajnath Singh observed, “Electoral Bonds was a well-considered decision to minimize the impact of black money on Indian politics. Those giving donations to political parties may become victims of revengeful stance in case of changes of Government. Basis the reasoning, in case of transparency, someone can demand that voting should also not be secret.”

Remarking about the controversies surrounding the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Rajnath Singh, said, “Politicians should show some morality and ethical values in Indian politics. A person who is charged of a crime should resign from his position. ED & CBI haven’t closed cases for those who have joined BJP. Congress should not try to misguide people. If people have a problem with action of the Government or any investigation body, they should knock the doors of the judiciary.”

Commenting on the opposition, Rajnath Singh said, “No one has stopped the opposition parties from uniting, but it is their inability to do so. For healthy democracy, a strong opposition is needed. How many opposition leaders have gone to meet Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in jail?”
