  • Ricky Gervais all set to host Golden Globes

    MUMBAI: Ricky Gervais will go live and unscripted as he hosts the Golden Globe Awards on NBC this Sunday night.


    “They can‘t censor me, it‘s live. That‘s the beauty of it,” the British funnyman said following his HBO Television Critics Association panel to promote his new animated comedy series, The Ricky Gervais Show.”


    “When they first offered me the job, I said, ‘I‘m not gonna rehearse. Can I say what I want?‘ They said, ‘Yes.‘ They haven‘t seen the script, my ideas, so they can‘t censor me. I suppose they could stop the show and replace me,” Gervais adds.
     

  • Weeklong Golden Globes Digital Preview

    MUMBAI: The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), NBC and Dick Clark Productions (dcp) have developed ‘Golden Globes Week‘; an online experience featuring exclusive preview content in support of the upcoming 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.


    The “Golden Globes Week” series will stream on NBC.com, Facebook.com/Celebs, Ustream and other partner sites through the official widget. The full week of previews kicked off ‘Golden Globe Week‘ that began on 11 January.


    The streams will feature exclusive content packed with action during Golden Globes Week including Golden Globes Week: Daily Update, One-on-One with Ricky Gervais, Golden Globes Live! The Day Before, Golden Globes Red Carpet Live! and Golden Globes Live! All Access Pass.


    HFPA president Philip Berk said, “This is the first year the HFPA has taken on such an active relationship online. We are bringing consumers a new platform with a full week of exclusive content. We are engaging both existing and new viewers worldwide.”


    Golden Globes Week: Daily Update (11 Jan to 14 Jan)
    The Daily Update will include a daily countdown of Golden Globes related events, updates from the executive producer, updates from Digg.com and Mashable.com and a retrospective countdown.


    One-on-One with Ricky Gervais (15 Jan)
    Host, Ricky Gervais sits down with fans around the world to discuss the Globes. Users can submit questions for Ricky to answer through their Facebook status updates and through Ustream‘s social stream.


    Golden Globes Live! The Day Before (16 Jan)
    The Day Before will feature host, expert and consumer commentary on what to expect the next day, award predictions, Beverly Hilton‘s preparations and interviews with celebrities and producers.


    Golden Globes: Red Carpet Live! (17 Jan)
    Tune-in for multi-host/multi-camera red carpet coverage including celebrity interviews and expert commentary (fashion, film, hair, fitness, and lifestyle).


    Golden Globes Live! All Access Pass. (17 Jan)
    All Access Pass takes you inside the Beverly Hilton for backstage access including commentary on the Globes, social media updates from Facebook, press room coverage, celebrity interviews, after party access and more.


    The widget was designed by Los Angeles based Opera New Media and built using Sprout builder technology.


    For the first time ever, there will also be a free iPhone application developed by Mobile Roadie for consumers to track the Golden Globes action from their mobile phones.

    MUMBAI: The names of Cher, Jennifer Garner, Kiefer Sutherland, Kate Winslet, Chace Crawford, Cameron Diaz and Jodie Foster have been added to the list of presenters at The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards that will be held on 17 January.


    They join previously announced presenters Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Gerard Butler, Chace Crawford, Cameron Diaz, Colin Farrell, Jodie Foster, Matthew Fox, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Neil Patrick Harris, Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren, Julia Roberts, Mickey Rourke and Sam Worthington.


    The show, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will be broadcast live coast-to-coast on UTV world Movies on 18 January at 6:30 am from The Beverly Hilton.

    They join earlier announced presenters like Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Gerard Butler, Cher, Chace Crawford, Cameron Diaz, Colin Farrell, Jodie Foster, Jennifer Garner, Matthew Fox, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Neil Patrick Harris, Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren, Julia Roberts, Mickey Rourke, Kiefer Sutherland, Kate Winslet and Sam Worthington.


    The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be seen in more than 160 countries worldwide and is one of the few awards ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements.


    The special will be produced by Dick Clark Productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). The show will be executively produced by president of dick clark productions, Orly Adelson while president of HFPA Barry Adelman will executive produce the special to be directed by Chris Donovan.

    MUMBAI: Gerard Butler, Mel Gibson and Sophia Loren have been added to be presenters at The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards to be held on 17 January.


    They join other presenters like Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Colin Farrell, Matthew Fox, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Mickey Rourke and Sam Worthington.


    As reported earlier, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio will present the Hollywood Foreign Press Association‘s Cecil B. DeMille award to Martin Scorsese for his “outstanding contribution to the entertainment field.”


    Commented host Ricky Gervais, “I‘m most looking forward to sharing the stage with Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese. Who‘d have thought it? The biggest heartthrob, greatest actor and best director in the world, and those three, all in one place.”


    “The award ceremony will be seen in more than 160 countries worldwide and is one of the few award ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements.


    The special will be produced by dick clark productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Philip Berk is President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.     They join Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Gerard Butler, Colin Farrell, Matthew Fox, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Neil Patrick Harris, Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren, Julia Roberts, Mickey Rourke and Sam Worthington whose names were previously announced.


    The Golden Globe Awards will be seen in more than 160 countries worldwide and is one of the few awards ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements.

  • HFPA selects Mavis Spencer as Miss Golden Globe

    MUMBAI: Mavis Spencer has been selected as Miss Golden Globe for The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).


    Traditionally, Miss Golden Globe, who assists in the Golden Globes ceremony, is the daughter of a well-known celebrity. The eighteen-year old Mavis happens to be the daughter of Golden Globe winner Alfre Woodard and writer/producer Roderick Spencer.


    Exclaimed Mavis, “It means a lot to me as a young person to be a part of something with such a rich history. I know how my mom feels when she brings home a statue. And to hand someone a token of their accomplishments when they‘re elated will just be really cool. I have memories of my mom traipsing off to the Globes, but this year she‘s with me! And we‘re going to have so much fun.”


    Mavis has earlier appeared in Teen Vogue and InStyle Magazine. She plans to model and study acting at Columbia, while continuing her already illustrious career in ‘Equestrienne Show Jumping‘.


    Previous Miss Golden Globe honorees include Rumer Willis (daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis), Laura Dern (daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern), Joely Fisher (daughter of Connie Stevens and Eddie Fisher) and Melanie Griffith (daughter of Tippi Hedren).

  • Scorsese to receive Cecil B DeMille award at the Golden Globe Awards

    MUMBAI: Martin Scorsese will be presented with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his outstanding contribution to the entertainment field at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards on 17 January.


    Scorsese received two Golden Globe Awards for Best Director of a Motion Picture‘ for The Departed and Gangs of New York. He has also been the receipient of five additional Golden Globe nominations including four as Best Director (Casino, Age of Innocence, Goodfellas, and Raging Bull) and one for Best Screenplay for Goodfellas (with Nicolas Pileggi).


    Recent Cecil B. DeMille winners include Steven Spielberg (2009), Warren Beatty (2007), Anthony Hopkins (2006), Robin Williams (2005) and Michael Douglas (2004).


    Scorsese‘s additional awards and honors include the Golden Lion from the Venice Film Festival (1995), the AFI Life Achievement Award (1997), the Honoree at the Film Society of Lincoln Center‘s 25th Gala Tribute (1998), and the DGA Lifetime Achievement Award (2003) and The Kennedy Center Honors (2007).


    Scorsese‘s most film The Departed was released to critical acclaim in October 2006 and has been honored with the Golden Globe, Director‘s Guild of America, New York Film Critics, National Board of Review and Critic‘s Choice awards for Best Director in addition to four Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director.


    He is currently in post-production of Shutter Island due for release in the spring of 2010 and is the executive producer of the upcoming HBO drama series Boardwalk Empire.

    MUMBAI: UTV World Movies has lined up some of the award winning movies that have won the Golden Globe awards this month.

    The Golden Globe Awards are presented annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to recognize outstanding achievements in the entertainment industry, both domestic and foreign, and to focus wide public attention upon the best in motion pictures and television.


    The films are A Room With A View (6 January), A Special Day (13 January), The Mission (20 January) and Paradise Now (27 January).
