    Radio City weaves shows and contest around Ganesh Utsav

    MUMBAI: Radio City 91FM has designed a series of programmes and contests to add a special flavour to this Ganesh festive season.

     
    According to an official release, Ganesh Vandana specially recorded for the occasion by the Radio City RJs will play it for for all 11 days of the festival. 

    From midnight tonight, Radio City goes live for the full night with a live feed from the streets where the RJ’s will go to SiddhiVinayak Temple. 

    Throughout the 10 days of Ganesh Utsav, listeners will be given a chance to not only enter exciting contests but will also be treated with special programmes and live updates on all the shows starting from Kasa Kai Mumbai to Route No.91.

     
    Radio City will distribute prizes like chaandi ki thalis (silver plate), miniature Ganpatis and Jagjit Singh CDs and also specially designed computer ‘mouse’ to a few lucky winners. 

    The media release also adds that Lavanya’s show – Masala Mix interesting festival related recipes will be discussed along with tips on home décor for the occasion.

    Radio City 91FM will organise celebrities like Milind Soman, Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant, cine actress Padmini Kolhapure and others to visit listeners houses who have brought Lord Ganesha to their place.

    On the eleventh day of the festival, Radio city in its style will go out on the roads and provide live hourly updates from Chowpatty. As the same time, provide regular traffic updates which would include information on routes blocked, changed or revised for the festival, informs the media release.

  • Radio City ties up with Vibgyor for activation unit

    MUMBAI: Radio City became the latest FM channel to add ‘activation’ to its range of brand value services after Red FM’s Red Activ and Radio Mirchi’s Mirchi Activation. While Red and Mirchi ‘activations’ are in house, Radio City has announced its strategic alliance with Vibgyor Brand Services. Radio City promises to provide clients end-to-end marketing solutions, thus consolidating ‘activation’ as part of its core business.

    In fact ‘activation’ has become the key word for radio channels as they search for ideas to both brand themselves as well as source new ad revenue mediums or what is called NTR (non-traditional revenue). Activating helps not only in terms of revenues but also in terms of on ground presence, visibility and an opportunity to reach out to the consumer.

    Speaking on the occasion Radio City CEO Apurva Purohit said, ‘Over the years we have realized that every client wants his brand to be felt, touched, sampled and seen to deliver immediate results and the nature of radio being ‘immediacy’ it fulfills the role perfectly. We have always had ‘activation’ as a key component in the services that we have been offering. While Radio City will continue to entertain listeners with our music expertise, which is our core competency, along with Vibgyor, we aim to keep building the effectiveness of the brands associated with us in a more comprehensive manner.’

    Radio City national head marketing Rana Barua added, ‘The reason activations are gaining ground within FM stations is because they provide a ‘single window’ approach to our clients. Radio City has been part of on ground events and promotions for our clients earlier as well. Except that it was on an ad hoc basis. Our core expertise is music and entertainment. So we wanted to partner with a firm whose expertise in on ground brand building is established and will help our clients.’

    Vibgyor Brand Services is an event management company, headquartered in Delhi and has a roster of clients including Hindustan Lever Limited, Modi Group, Dabur India, America Online, Reliance Communications, Idea Cellular and Gillette India which it promises to bring to the table for Radio City.

    MUMBAI: Radio City Bangalore station is launching, Radio City Live, a music show that showcases local talent back to Bangalore.

    This time, two local bands, Thermal and a Quarter and Phenom, are all set to rock Bangalore on the night of 26 February 2005 at Cubbon Park, informs an official release.

    Radio City 91 FM has developed Radio City Live as a platform that showcases local talent. Begun in 2002, the first show was a rock band hunt that brought two local Bangalore bands, Antaragni and Document Done to the forefront and gave them an opportunity to perform alongside the country’s best bands – Euphoria and Pentagram.

  • Radio City announces yet another contest for its listeners

    MUMBAI: Star India-backed Radio has announced a new contest for its listeners called Strings Ka Guitar Le Jao, City Bajao Contest.
     
     
    Valid till 20 June, the contest commenced yesterday. The IVRS/SMS based contest requires the listeners to call and leave answers to a simple question which is – Radio City apke dil ke kaun sey ‘strings’ ko choota hai aur kyon? ( Radio City touches which string of your heart and why?)

    The five best answers will get an opportunity to meet as well as be photographed with Strings, the Pakistani music band. The winners will also get autographed CD’s of their latest album Dhaani and can even win an autographed Strings guitar, says a press release.

  • Radio City weaves a contest around ‘Sabse Favourite Kaun’

    MUMBAI: Promotion is the name of the game. It isn’t good enough that you have a fairly decent product, you have to promote your fare with gusto. So, Star Gold has inked a contest deal with Radio City for a contest around its show Sabse Favorite Kaun.
     
     

    The contestants, to participate in the contest, will have to call in and answer a simple question ‘Why Radio City is their favorite radio station?’. The on air contest has opened on 27 May and closes on 2 June across Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow and Bangalore.

    The jury will select one winner each from Mumbai, Lucknow, Bangalore and Delh. Four lucky winners will be awarded an all paid trip to Mumbai and also an opportunity to attend the Star Gold Sabse Favourite Kaun ceremony. The winners will also get an exclusive chance to meet their Favorite Stars on a one on one basis

    Radio City hopes to cash on the star craze, which is much more prevalent in the interiors and small towns.

    MUMBAI: The Star India-backed Radio City 91 FM is launching a new monthly programme, Radio City 100% Bollywood Sitara.

    Featuring one major Hindi movie star every month, the inaugural episode will focus on Bollywood biggie Shah Rukh Khan as he shares with listeners his first crush, the biggest influence on his life, the biggest compliment he has ever received, his latest movie and will answer a number of other questions. Radio City 100% Bollywood Sitara will be aired a number of times through the day.

    As a part of the 100% Bollywood Sitara with Shah Rukh Khan, Radio City is also running a contest giving the audience an opportunity to meet the star.
