    Now update Nokia Asha 501 with WhatsApp

    MUMBAI: It has become the most popular instant messaging (IM) service but Nokia Asha 501 users were not privileged to the WhatsApp service that currently has over 350 million monthly active users. Announced last month, the IM app will officially be available on the Nokia Asha 501 platform from today.

    The current users of the handset can download the IM app following the over-the-air software update. The new software also comes with a smarter camera experience through ‘swipe’ and one-touch social sharing, and a more intuitive and social Fastlane home screen.

    “Asha 501 will be the first device on the Asha Platform to support WhatsApp. The updated software will offer Asha consumers with a more social experience, building on the previous Fastlane experience. The new interface comes with a single swipe camera, single touch share to Facebook and ability to track Facebook comments and likes right from your Fastlane screen,” said Nokia India director marketing Viral Oza.


    Also, now the new Nokia Asha 501 handsets that will hit the stores on 5 December will have the IM app pre-installed.

    MUMBAI: The Marathi music industry is fast evolving with significant leaps in talent and technical expertise. Especially over the last 5 years, we have witnessed a marked difference in the Marathi Music space, with the emergence of outstanding work.

    GSEAMS and Art And Artistes presented the first Indian Music Academy Marathi Music Awards, which was held on the 26th of October 2013 in a star-studded event at Mumbai. The Indian Music Academy (IMA), a CSR initiative of Art And Artistes (I) Pvt. Ltd., is the 1st body of musicians in India. Founder Patron Sangeet Martand Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj along with 12 other patrons laid down the guiding principles and key objectives of the IMA, and it was launched by the then President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in 2006. It has since then worked towards promoting all genres of Indian Music and musicians and also, relentlessly towards the welfare of the musicians.

    MUMBAI: BJP likely to make a comeback in Rajasthan, to bag 105 seats; 50% feel Cong govt should not get another chance: ABP News-Dainik Bhaskar-Nielsen opinion poll BJP likely to get around 105 seats with a vote share of 37 per cent in the upcoming assembly polls in Rajasthan, predicts ABP News-Dainik Bhaskar-Nielsen opinion poll. Ruling Congress is predicted to get 75 seats with a vote share of 33 per cent in the 200-seat assembly of Rajasthan. Rajasthan Seat Forecast

    The survey indicates towards a gain for BJP in 35-seat zone of Mewar with 24 seats as compared to 9 seats in 2008 assembly polls. Congress likely to get around 10 seats as compared to 24 seats in 2008 polls. 56% feel that Vasundhra Raje is most suitable to be the next Chief Minister of RajasthanAs per the ABP News-Dainik Bhaskar-Nielsen survey, 56% of the respondents feel that Smt Vasundhra Raje is most suitable to be the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan. The performance of present CM Ashok Gehlot is average with a mean score of 3.0.

    The performance of the Congress Government in Rajasthan is rated below average with a mean score of 2.90 lesser than the performance of the Chief Minister. 50% of the respondents feel that the Congress government should not get another chance in Rajasthan. BJP voted for the ability to control price rise; Kirorillal Meena’s appeal would get votes for NPP According to the ABP News-Dainik Bhaskar-Nielsen survey, out of all the respondents interviewed the single most important reason to vote for BJP is their ability to control prices. 13% of the respondents who will vote for INC will vote as they feel INC will improve condition of villages. Kirorillal Meena’s appeal would get votes for NPP.Inflation, poor employment opportunities and corruption were key reasons for people to move from INC to BJP.Crisis of drinking water is the top most problem in the constituenciesAs per the ABP News-Dainik Bhaskar-Nielsen survey, around 27% respondents feel that the most important issue in the constituency is the crisis of drinking water.

     

    The similar issues are resonated in regions like Shekhawati (33%), Mewar (37%). Awareness towards social schemes:According to the ABP News-Dainik Bhaskar-Nielsen survey, 85% respondents are aware of the MNREGA scheme; 71% respondents MNREGA is a socially benefitting scheme.80% of the respondents feel that the Rajiv Gandhi student digital scheme is socially benefitting.76% of the respondents feel that Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana is beneficial for the society.Although 21% of respondents credit the present Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for the successful completion of Jaipur metro rail, nevertheless 47% respondents are not aware of the same. The opinion poll was conducted by ABP News-Dainik Bhaskar-Nielsen with 17,881 respondents. The survey was conducted between 29th October 2013 to 14th November 2013. The confidence interval (margin of error) assumed for vote share prediction lies in the ranges of ±5%.

    MUMBAI: MAX, the premium Hindi movies and special events channel brings to you the MAX television Premier of this year’s periodical love story film, ‘LOOTERA’ on Saturday, 23rd November at 9PM and Sunday, 24th November at 1PM only on MAX.

    LOOTERA is an intrinsically earnest and profoundly heartwarming story. The movie is partly based on author O. Henry’s 1907 short story ‘The Last Leaf’. Set in the era of 1950s, the film stars Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. Lootera is a love saga of yore.

    Recollecting certain difficulties while shooting the film, Ranveer Singh stated, “Dalhousie was a particularly jinxed and difficult schedule to complete, we had to reschedule the sequence three times and finally got lucky the third time. The first time we went there it was snowing so heavily that the set collapsed under the weight of the snow. The entire set in Dalhousie just caved in. The second time we went there, the conditions were so harsh and I was supposed to do an action sequence and my body was not warmed up. Also, I hurt my back and we had to abandon that schedule too. When we went back the third time there was hardly any snow. So we were just not experiencing the right kind of luck with the weather.”

    1.Scientists at IIT have developed a biodegradable emulsion called Fru Wash. The emulsion contains anti-oxidant and anti-microbial qualities, which slow the process of ripening and could increase the shelf life of produce without the need for refrigeration. Fru Wash is used in the field after harvesting when produce is freshest and the chemical most effective

    2.To counter problem for proliferation of fake drugs, PharmaSecure has worked with leading companies in India to roll out their SMS authentication service on over 100 million drug packages for the domestic market. The system is allowing consumers to authenticate medicines by mobile phone

    3.K.K. Plastics collects plastic which is shredded and eventually turned into roads. The plastic is mixed with asphalt at 150 degrees Celsius to produce polymerized bitumen. The plastic acts as a binding agent, helping road surfaces hold together better at higher temperatures. Since plastic is water-resistant, the roads don’t get waterlogged, have fewer potholes and need repairs less frequently than conventional roads

    4.The launch of the biometric system is called Aadhar where a 12-digit unique ID is generated using both ten fingerprints and two Iris scans, which boosts accuracy and reduces duplication

     

    5.Zed Earth, two eco-friendly housing developments in Bangalore which aim to be almost entirely independent from the civic infrastructure for water and electricity using renewable energy sources 

    6.The so called Advanced Heavy Water Reactor is being developed to accommodate Thorium as its core fuel. A prototype reactor is being constructed at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre based on this mineral; leading to independence from imports

    7.The twin pit toilet developed by Sulabh Sanitation Movement in New Delhi is already improving sanitation for an estimated 10 million people daily. The simple toilet uses two pits dug into the ground connected to a traditional squat lavatory. This reduces water use and needs no chemicals to treat the waste. 

     

    8.ZMQ Software Solutions, Delhi-based technology for social development company. create mobile phone apps and educational games to help and empower the poorest in society. A group of women who have been able to start their own small businesses using apps, which provide access to microloans and teach basic economic skills

    9.Housing districts like Chembur have started to deal with 8,000 metric tonnes of waste it generates daily. A women’s collective gathers Chembur’s rubbish and biodegradable wet material, which makes up to 60 percent of the district’s household waste – is composted on-site and used for gardening, while dry material is recycled. Similar schemes are now running at 40 locations around Mumbai.
