Imran reveals the reason behind the failure of GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN

MUMBAI: On one hand where actors can’t stop signing the praise of their work, Imran has unleashed Pandora’s Box. Letting the cat out of the bag, Imran revealed the reasons behind the failure for his recent flick.

At a recent event, zoOm reported the actor’s few words said it all! Imran proclaimed that he would refrain from maligning his producers in front of the media. Imran also added that he is satisfied with his work and would prefer speaking to the team that worked on his last failure directly rather than slandering the producer and director.

Going a step forward! The star seems to have learnt a lesson from his back to back flops. It looks like the hero now would like to follow the footsteps of his uncle by promoting and creating a buzz around the film himself. Well with Imran attributing the failure of Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobara to Ekta’s Excessive promotions it’s clear the actor seems to have mastered the art of making excuses. Will the hunk succeed in resorting to the age old tricks by attempting to pass the buck for his decisions and failures to the filmmakers? For the latest and biggest stories from Bollywood, stay tuned to Planet Bollywood News every day at 7 pm only on zoOm – India’s No. 1 Bollywood Channel.

  • Kolkata celebrates Jhiliks wedding beyond the show

Kolkata celebrates Jhiliks wedding beyond the show

MUMBAI: Maa is one of the oldest shows on Star Jalsha which has been running strong for the last 4 years. Telecast at 8pm every Monday to Saturday, it’s a clear and consistent slot leader and has huge amount of loyalty among its viewers. The show delineates the story of Jhilik, a girl who has been orphaned at a very young age. Over time Jhilik has become the most loved character on Bengali TV. Viewers have showered their love and affection on her as would on their own daughters. It is this love and loyalty that helps the show deliver robust viewership with a TSV in the range of 20-22 mins.

So, when the story reached the point where Jhilik is being married off, we decided to do something big and special. We wanted to celebrate Jhilik’s iconic status by taking the marriage celebrations from beyond the show, from reel to real. It was only fair that the whole of Kolkata witnessed and was a part of the wedding of its most favorite daughter.

What we did? We erected the first live hoarding with an ongoing Shehnai performance. The live hoarding was on display at the heart of the city of Kolkata from 15th to 18th of November 2013. We had 6 Shenhai artists performing in rotation atop a hoarding decorated in the fashion of a marriage hall.  Apart from the wedding celebration theme that made use of drapes, 50 kgs of flowers and wedding motif designs, the live performance itself served as the buzz creator and became the talk of the town. The buzz it created was palpable with a huge word of mouth spread.

Sweets were distributed to mark the occasion, the crowd was excited about such a novel initiative and showed full support and enthusiasm. They sent lots of blessings for Jhilik and ensured they be part of the wedding, which was reflected in the instant hike in the show ratings.

  • CNN examines the legacy of indias brave heart in worlds untold stories: the fearless one

CNN examines the legacy of indias brave heart in worlds untold stories: the fearless one

MUMBAI: It was a phone call that no parent wants to receive. But on the fateful night of December 16, 2012, the parents of a 23-year-old Indian medical student had the police on the line saying their child has been taken to the hospital. Little did they know that what lay ahead would not only change their life forever, but shake the conscience of an entire nation and effect a concrete change in its judicial system.

What started as an ordinary evening at the movies for this young girl, turned out to be an unimaginable night of horror as she was raped, brutally beaten and violated by a group of men in a bus and then left to die on the roadside. This month, CNN’s World’s Untold Stories: The Fearless One recounts this young student’s courageous struggle for life before succumbing to injuries that her attendant doctor described as the most “atrocious, unbelievable” he had seen in his career spanning four decades. The documentary examines how her suffering brought together a nation’s public to demand justice for a girl that they had never seen, whose very name was unknown to them*, and how her enduring legacy has left a lasting impact on India’s social fabric.

The depravity and inhumanity of the crime meant that the men gang raped and violated a girl with an iron rod while out for a “joyride” and showed no signs of remorse, being “very casual” and “cracking jokes” throughout their trial. CNN recounts the horrible chain of events of that night through extensive interviews with the girl’s parents, the police investigators and doctors. Viewers hear from the parents about the brave young girl who was the family’s “pillar of strength” and their hope for a better life and also from the investigating police officers about the arrogance of the rapists who “didn’t think they would get caught”. They will hear from the doctors about her incredible fighting spirit which prevailed despite her grievous internal injuries “unparalleled, unheard neither before nor after.”

The documentary also chronicles the nationwide protests which erupted to say that ‘enough was enough’ and that more needed to be done to protect women in India. The protestors braved tear gas and water cannons in Delhi’s bitter winter chill to demand justice. Their support provided the victim’s parents the courage to “put up a tough fight” and made them feel that “humanity still prevails on this earth.”

Finally, The Fearless One highlights the legacy that this brave girl created. This included a change in India’s law against sexual offences, as well as smaller but equally-significant change visible on-ground with the police officers reporting that people “have got emboldened” to report sexual crimes of all hues. It sheds light on the bereaved parents’ hope that their daughter’s fight will lead to more “positive changes in the future” keeping her “alive in one form or the other”.

*Indian law prohibits revealing the identity of a rape victim
