    MUMBAI: L’Oréal Paris, the world’s No. 1 beauty brand and Femina, India’s largest women’s magazine once again came together to celebrate India’s women achievers at the third edition of the L’Oréal Paris Femina Women Awards 2014 at The Leela, Mumbai. The awards celebrated ‘Women of Worth’ in India, honouring women who work selflessly for their communities across 14 categories including Social Impact, Community Causes, Science & Innovation and Education amongst others.

    MUMBAI: New Delhi Television (NDTV), one of India’s most-watched TV news networks, has migrated its satellite uplink infrastructure from MPEG-2 to a complete MPEG-4 multiple-channel-per-carrier (MCPC) chain based on Thomson Video Networks’ advanced encoding, MPEG processing, and transport stream (TS) monitoring equipment. Driven by the award-winning ViBE™ EM4000 premium HD/SD encoder, NetProcessor 9030 MPEG processor, XMS network management system, and Granite Sentinel DTV monitor, the new MCPC chain replaces aging SD MPEG-2 equipment and provides an HD-ready platform to support NDTV’s future technology requirements.

    MUMBAI: As a part of the ongoing preparations, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) held a press conference in Mumbai today, attended by superstars Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar. Come April, the Indian Film fraternity will take the United States by storm, as the 15th edition of the IIFA Weekend and Awards will play out from the 23rd to 26th in Tampa Bay, Florida. 

     

    Tampa Bay will bear witness to superstar, Hrithik Roshan’s signature moves as the ace performer takes to the Tata Motors IIFA Awards this year.  Speaking on his performance, Hrithik said, “I have been a part of many IIFAs where I have performed at different locales. IIFA was in fact my first international performance and something I have always treasured. I am honoured to be a part of this major milestone in IIFA’s journey as they venture into the United States of America, showcasing our film industry in Tampa Bay this year.” Roshan has previously performed at IIFA in Sun City, Singapore and Colombo. This will be his first performance in the US in a decade.

    MUMBAI: Star Plus’ latest offering – Ek Hasina Thi is a story unlike any other on Indian Television. Set in the eastern megapolis of Kolkata, this is not a revenge story but a story of a woman seeking justice for a crime committed in the past. However, her methods of claiming justice are unconventional as she steps out of the shackles of traditionalism and utilizes her Mind to conquer Might!

     
    The fight to deliver justice for an inhuman crime is a universally moving theme. It is also equally true that ‘When all else fails and one is pushed to the brink, one is compelled to take an extreme action’. Ek Hasina Thi tracks the journey of such a woman Durga (played by Sanjeeda Sheikh), who has decided to become an active agent of change to achieve her motive of justice. Durga is not only rich, brave, focused with a heart of gold but is also strong, powerful, calculating and manipulative, using her intelligence to stay a step ahead of her adversaries. She doesn’t mind stepping over the boundaries of ‘right’ and flirt with the dark side, but she always remains within the confines of good, never losing touch with her humanity.

     
    However, Durga’s fight is not easy as facing her are the extremely powerful and influential Goenka family – the main antagonists and the target of Durga’s actions. Vatsal Sheth plays the role of Shaurya Goenka who is the rich, womanizing scion of the Goenka clan. A playboy and brat who is not used to hearing the word NO, Shaurya knows that with his family’s influence, he can get away with anything. Standing by Shaurya through thick and thin are his parents – Sakshi and Rajnath Goenka (essayed by Simone Singh and Ayub Khan), whose financial muscle and stronghold over the city automatically make them both a revered and feared opponent. Durga’s task is further complicated when she faces multiple hurdles as relationships, romance and her own emotional conflicts play a role in making her question her actions.

    Among the headline formats for this year’s slate is Fundastic, a live multiplatform series created by Endemol Israel and developed with leading broadcaster Reshet. This innovative format integrates real-time active viewing through a dedicated crowd funding app. 

     

    Fundastic is a nail biting show where budding entrepreneurs not only face a panel of tough judges but must win over viewers who decide, via the bespoke app, how much financial backing from the prize fund each contender deserves. The final winning entrepreneur receives funding as well as expert mentoring and guidance to help make their business vision a reality. 

     

    Ejector Seat is a funny, fast paced general knowledge game show from Endemol UK for ITV. When loosing contestants exit the show they are literally tipped backwards from their seats in a spectacular fashion. The game is simple: if contestants answer questions correctly they stay sitting happily in their seat. But give the wrong response and their seat travels backwards along the track. The contestant is now under pressure – and, as they move further towards the back, even the simplest questions suddenly feels incredibly tough. 

     

    Host in the Box is an original factual entertainment series from Endemol Germany for Prosieben. The presenter is locked in a wooden box and shipped off to an undisclosed location equipped with nothing but burning curiosity and the box they arrive in. From rough riding Hell’s Angels to the sober Amish and wild porn actors, the host must adapt to a completely different lifestyles than what they are used to. 

     

    Endemol Spain has created Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids & Co an entertaining new twist on the global celebrity talent show which has successfully launched in Portugal. This format brings together an all-star cast from previous Your Face Sounds Familiar series to mentor talented kids. Eight youngsters are teamed up with eight of the best celebrities to perform in duos, impersonating iconic musical performers of all times. As always, the Your Face Sounds Familiar buzzer will determine which modern or iconic musical performance each contestant will become the following week, guaranteeing hilarious and dramatic results.
