    Keshet DCP’S ‘Boom’ launches in Israel to staggering ratings

    MUMBAI: Keshet DCP, the joint venture between Keshet International (KI), the global distribution and production arm of Keshet Media Group, and DC Media, the parent company of dick clark productions (dcp), announced today that the company will bring Keshet International’s electrifying new gameshow format BOOM! to the U.S. market. This project marks the first co-development deal between KI and DC Media under the Keshet DCP banner since it was established in October 2013. This news comes simultaneously with colossal ratings for the show’s debut in Israel.

     

    BOOM!, which premiered on Keshet Broadcasting, Channel 2 Israel last night Thursday April 3 at 9 PM, vastly outshone all other shows in its timeslot, scoring a staggering 41.2% share and 26.7% (HH) rating to become the highest-rated game show launch Israel has ever seen. The ratings and share equate to an increase of four times the amount drawn by the nearest competitor for the time slot, doing exceptionally well in the younger demographic of 18 – 24 years with a share 27.5% higher than the average.

     

    BOOM! fuses the drama, intensity and thrill of a blockbuster action movie with the high octane fun of a video game. Full of comedy, color and excitement – BOOM!’s fresh approach rolls the intellectual AND physical challenges of existing gameshows into one must-see event for viewers of all ages. A squad of four players must defuse eight (replica) bombs by answering trivia questions correctly within a strict time limit. In nail-biting scenes, the nominated player must defuse one bomb per question by cutting through colored wires which represent multiple choice answers against the clock. If the player answers correctly the prize money remains intact and they move to the next bomb, if they cut the wrong wire, or run out of time the bomb will explode strewing material across the studio and visibly shaking the set – and the team will lose one player and 25% of the potential prize money. BOOM! delivers fierce tension and light-hearted humor in quick succession, extending the experience not only to those in the studio, but also viewers at home who can play along.

     

    Keshet International previously announced that the company will unveil BOOM! this year at MIPTV.

In November 2013, ABC ordered 10 episodes of the trailblazing interactive singing competition format RISING STAR from Keshet DCP. The show will premiere this summer on June 22 on ABC.

    Pay Day has Charlie playing a bricklayer whose bully of a wife is like the national bank that takes away his pay as soon as he gets it. But he hides money to enjoy a night out drinking. Missing his last transportation on the rainy night, he gets back home just in time to pretend that he is leaving for work again! From a tramp to a war hero, Charlie makes it to the boot camp in Shoulder Arms where he “surrounds” and captures 13 Germans alone and pretends to be a tree trunk and goes behind the enemy lines! But is it a victory parade or a charade?

    A farm hand who milks a cow into his coffee, fries eggs by holding the chicken over the frying pan and dances with nymphs in his dreams, Charlie is in love with his neighbour’s daughter but despised by her father in Sunny Side. As he tries to woo her, an injured city slicker has designs on the same girl. So who will win her? The Tramp finds himself employed in a circus and in love with the ringmaster’s stepdaughter in The Circus. A tightrope walk dodging escaped monkeys and many funny acts make this one a riot!

    Charlie gets adventurous in The Gold Rush as he goes to the Yukon to participate in the Klondike Gold Rush. Watch him play a persecuted Jewish barber as well as a Nazi dictator Hynkel, a spoof of Hitler in The Great Dictator. There’s too much to laugh about as the Tramp plays the double role of a hobo and a wealthy man in The Idle Class and the comedy of errors at a masquerade ball because of the doppelgangers. Get ready for love and laughter as Charlie plays an adoptive father in The Kid. A momentary parting and then uniting this huge hit has funny and tender moments galore.     “Life is lived not by the number of hours you’ve spent working, but by the number of kilometers you’ve gained traveling.”

     

    That’s what young Chef  Saransh Goila (26), did with his television show, Roti, Rasta Aur India, on FOODFOOD, India’s No 1 food lifestyle  channel, that entered the Limca Book of Records  The food travelogue moved across  India, for 100 days, covering 100 cities and staying and meeting people in around 60 cities, approximately over 20,000 km by road. His journey, on Roti, Rasta Aur India, was a journey about the people of India, the way they cook and eat, their culture and daily life. The objective was to showcase the multi faceted nation, its people and the rich traditions and cuisine.

     

    The culinary journey started from and ended in Delhi. Chef Goila also anchored the show which was first aired on August 24, 2012 at 8.00 pm.
    Ecstatic over his achievement Saransh said, ”I  am the luckiest 26- year- old Chef  who got to travel 20,000 km across  India, non-stop, in 100 days ,by road. It was a dream to travel, explore & relish food cooked by different people in different locations. Every state, village and town has a lot of distinctive characters which reflects in the taste of their food and their style of cooking,”

     

    He further added, “All the experiences helped me change my perspective about food & life. Through this show, I have realized that the things we city dwellers take for granted are nothing short of a luxury in some parts of India. Most people I met lead extremely difficult lives, but are ever so grateful for what they have. Now, my style of cooking is very rustic and I believed in preserving traditional food. The result: I am being called ‘Sadak Chef’.”

     

    Roti, Rasta Aur India , was a  journey across India, with Chef Saransh, taking a look at the  culinary heritage of the country and tracing its history. It showcased the rich traditional Indian cuisine, unique, yet diverse in flavors, made with distinct cooking originating from every region in India.  

     

    Through this food travelogue the young Chef touched the lives of hundreds of people and became   a part of their lives for a day. Besides, meeting new communities, cooking for them and eating with them, he also had enchanting and enriching food stories to share with the audience.

Launched in 2010, the campaign was successful in setting the tiger agenda for the Nation.
