The championship will take place between 32 football bloggers, divided into 8 groups, and top 2 from each group after the league stage will qualify to the knockout stages.

     

    The teams will compete against each other on the basis of their quality of blogs, impressions made per blog and reach. These are top 32 football bloggers from the country and they have crazy football loving fans and readers as their followers. Regular articles by these bloggers on Football World Cup will enkindle the football passion in digital and social media savvy youth of India. The tournament format ensures best performance from every blogger which results in more engaging and entertaining content.

    Each round will be evaluated by a jury of selected media persons who will screen all articles written by the bloggers about football. The entire duration of the tournament will be a month and on 16th August, 2014, the winners be felicitated at a grand event in Delhi. Blogmint will award top 3 bloggers and also award Golden Boot and Golden Ball as special prizes.

    MUMBAI: While the World Cup starts in Brazil’s football stadiums, another competition has already kickstarted on social networks: the one that opposes players and participating countries through hashtags, followers and Twitter mentions.

     

    On this occasion, Social Media Agency KRDS launches, “Second World Cup”, an immersive website available both on desktop and mobile, allowing users to discover what players and teams are the most talked about on Twitter during the event.

     

    Users are invited to take part in the “Second World Cup” by participating to virtual confrontations which oppose teams on the social network. Which means, participants have to tweet to help their team win and improve its position in the final ranking of the Hashtags’ World Cup.

     

    “Second World Cup” does not just reveal the number of tweets which are related to the event on Twitter, but also gives users the opportunity to follow the evolution of tweets mentioning a team or a player in real time. The more the team / player are mentioned on the social network, the bigger the bubble which represents them becomes, as the number of sent tweets directly affects the size of the picture, and thus the final ranking.

     

    A “battle” section contains a calendar of each of the games and will allow users to take part to tweet matches happening between two teams in real time. The winner of the virtual game (the one who will have received the most mentions on Twitter) will be unveiled after each “battle”.

     

    Finally, the website also gives access to the teams’ and the players’ cloakrooms. This includes a social hub showcasing mentions on all social networks, along with the Twitter stats of the day, a ranking of the top 40 Twitter users who are the most assiduous for each team, a detailed information sheet on each player/participating country as well as the most important historical World Cup facts.

    MUMBAI: “Ratra Vanvyachi” – (Night of the Forest Fire) is a new semi -fictional series produced by Doordarshan Sahyadri Channel based on the novel written by Smt. Neela Satyanarayan, the first Woman State Election Commissioner (SEC) of Maharashtra.

     

    The entire series revolves around a female protagonist struggling to be a perfect fit in this male dominated system of governance. It takes you through the journey of a woman who through her honest and upright conduct establishes an impartial and strong image vis-?-vis to her male counterpart. The story unfolds the various career experiences of woman and how skillfully she triumphs over all the problems in day to day life at her home and at work place. The female lead character is portrayed by Actress, Kancha Jadhav.

    MUMBAI: The Reliance Foundation and the National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced a new project to install basketball hoops in more than 50 schools across Mumbai as part of their joint commitment to developing basketball infrastructure in India and to facilitate access to the game.  

    This marks the next step in the partnership between the two organizations, which launched the Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA program in 2013 and has taught basketball and the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle to nearly 150,000 youth across two Indian cities.  The program will expand to six cities in 2014.

     

    NBA point guard Isaiah Thomas of the Sacramento Kings, traveling to India on behalf of the NBA to help grow the game, was on-hand to help tip off the first stage ofthe Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA Pprogram’s Basketball Hoops Infrastructure project, which included hosting a youth clinic at the IES school in Dadar. Isaiah will be part of several basketballinitiatives across the city designed to inspire youth to play and to grow the NBA’s fanbase.

     

    “This is my first visit to India, and I am really excited to see the passion for basketball here that I have been hearing about,” said Thomas.“NBA India and the Reliance Foundation are doing a great job in the development and promotion of the sport here, and I look forward to helping them as much as possible.”

     

    This basic infrastructure will give thousands of youth across Mumbai access to the game year- round, further allowing them to live a healthy and active lifestyle.

     

    “The progress under the Reliance Foundation Jr NBA program in reaching approximately 150,000 youth through in-school and after school programs has been very satisfying.  The Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA pProgram is now providing the basic infrastructure needed to play the game of basketball,” said Jagannatha Kumar, CEO, Reliance Foundation. “By installing these hoops, hundreds of thousands of Indian youth can play the game together and help grow the game throughout India.”

     

    “This is the next step in our partnership with the Reliance Foundation as we continue to grow basketball across India,” said Yannick Colaco, Managing Director, NBA India. “Since our partnership last year, the Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA program has integrated basketball into the school level and helps promote a healthy and active lifestyle to Indian youth.”

     

    The Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA program has featured more than 5,000 in-school basketball sessions and hosted 11 after-school basketball locations.  The international coaches, appointed by the NBA to implement the program, have trained more than300 physical education instructors.   Each local coach received a “Basketball in a Bag,” which contained a localized coaching guide, cones, whistles, a stopwatch, posters, and an air pump. In addition, more than 5,000 basketballs have been provided to participating schools in order to give youth an opportunity to learn and enjoy the game.
