    MUMBAI: As the nation gears up for the 68th Independence Day, IBN7, the channel of Impact comes up with an array of special programming to denote this special Day. With Narendra Modi’s pledge to clean the Ganga, all the focus is now on the desecrated and polluted holy river. This Independence Day, IBN7 will bring to its viewers seven hours of extensive programming solely dedicated on river Ganges, an exclusive initiative taken by any news channel till date.

     

    The Independence Day special programming on IBN7 will start early morning with the live coverage of Prime Minister Modi’s address to the nation direct from the Red Fort. An eminent panel of guests in the studio will discuss and scrutinize this much anticipated speech which is likely to be Modi’s first address to his countrymen since he became the Prime Minister. From 12 noon till 7pm in the evening, the channel’s entire focus will be on Ganga. The long 7 hours of programming will highlight the plight of the holy river. IBN7’s OB vans will be stationed at various banks of Haridwar, Kanpur, Varanasi and Ganga Sagar in West Bengal. The channel’s reporters will do on-ground reporting from there and try talking to the localities aiming to showcase the horrifying condition of the sacred river and its banks. The reporters will also be joined by local activists, environmentalists, priests along with an elite panel of guests at the studio, who will try to analyze the various aspects of River Ganga and nuances related to this issue.

     

    At 7.30 PM, the last episode of Saving the Ganga series will culminate with a half hour special followed by another special show on Ganga where the experts will share their insights on the concern. From 9 pm onwards, the channel will discuss the PM’s speech and its significance in detail.

    India TV appoints Ajit Anjum as managing editor

    MUMBAI: In a development that could further impact the equations in the Hindi news genre, Ajit Anjum, a veteran of 25 years, has joined India TV’s newsroom as Managing Editor.

     

    Anjum, who’s last stint was with BAG network as the Managing Editor of News 24 is best known for experimenting & ideating many path-breaking programs and shows like Sansani, Poll Khol & Red Alert to name a few.  At India TV, he will be reporting to Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-chief.

     

    Welcoming him, Sharma said, “Ajit is a man of ideas, a professional with tremendous energy levels. At this juncture when India TV has successfully established itself as one of the most respected news brands in the country, his entry will definitely help us consolidate our position further.”

     

    Commenting on his appointment, Anjum said, “I am thankful to India TV’s management for an opportunity as this one. All my endeavours will be to further India TV’s leadership in the Hindi News space.”

     

    A Ramnath Goenka Awardee for Political reporting in 2010, Anjum’s first major break with media was with newspaper Amar Ujala in 1990. His career has been punctuated with a couple of smaller stints with Chauthi Duniya & Aaj Tak, however, he has spent the major part of his career, almost 19 years with BAG network.

     

    Anjum has also been quite successful with his socio-political debates on News 24’s Sabse Bada Sawal, those have been almost a regular over the last one year.

KGBHis a series of telefilms based on real life situations and addresses issues related to women. With Kitni Girhain Baaki Hai,the channel brought the trend of telefilms back on Indian Television. This week on KGBH telefilms featuring some of the established faces of Pakistani TV industry will be aired.

     

    Starting tonight, Zindagi will air ‘Dekh Kabira Roya’ featuring Ayeza Khan (KahiUnkahi fame) & Imraan Abbas (to be seen in MeraNaseeb). Dekh Kabira Roya is the story of Kabeer, a young ice cream vendor raised by his widow mother with a lot of hardships. Kabeer goes through a testing time when he has to find the courage to tell his mother that he will marry a girl of his choice and not someone chosen by his mother.

     

    Adnan Siddiqui, who has been acclaimed for his performances in Maat and Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar will be seen in telefilm titled ‘Pehli si Mohabbat’. The telefilm traces the lives of man and woman who revisit their old friendship post a chance meeting after years. Peh.li Si Mohabbat will air on Friday, August 15th.

     

    Another telefilm ‘Bissat’ featuring  Mehwish Hayat (of Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar fame)will be airing on Sunday, August 17th. This telefilm is about how a brother raises his younger sister after their parents pass away. The story meets a turning point when the brother gets married and sister does not share a very cordial relationship with the new bride.

     

    KGBH is based on the ironies and harsh realities of a woman’s life, but also gives hope to, and creates awareness among women.
