    MUMBAI: This November, AXN has introduced two popular shows, Blue Bloods and Elementary. The channel is bringing one of America’s top 10 drama series Blue Bloods to India from 24 November at 9 pm from Monday to Thursday and the latest season of Elementary with Sherlock who is promising to thrill viewers with his incredible deduction crime solving techniques every Friday from 7 November at 10 pm which is closer to US airings.

    ‘Skyscraper Live with Nik Wallenda’ to air on Discovery Channel on 3 November

    NEW DELHI: Nik Wallenda, “The King of the Highwire” is back at it again. This time, he is heading to the historic windy city of Chicago to attempt his most audacious and challenging tightrope walk yet. And like the legendary Wallenda family tradition, he will do it all without a net or harness. He is also planning to walk a portion of the tightrope walk over the Chicago skyline wearing a blindfold.

     

    Skyscraper Live With Nik Wallenda   will air live globally in over 220 countries on Monday, November 3 at 5:30 am and a special telecast at 9 pm exclusively on Discovery Channel.  The live event will be hosted by NBC News’ Willie Geist, Natalie Morales and The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore.

     

    In June 2013, Nik became the first person to ever successfully traverse the Grand Canyon on a tightrope. Globally, 30.4 million viewers across 186 countries tuned in to witness the historic live event which generated nearly 40,000 tweets per minute, with #Skywire holding seven of the trending topics worldwide and generating 1 million mentions for the day. The special was recognised as the most social show across all broadcast and cable networks in the U.S. It was also recently honoured with an Interactive Emmy® for Multi-platform Storytelling for its companion website, which featured compelling video, 360-degree interactive views, backstage moments, real-time social updates and many other digital elements.

    For the first part of the tightrope crossing, Nik will walk further than two city blocks – uphill rising to a 15-degree angle – from the iconic Marina City’s west tower to the Leo Burnett Building at more than 50 stories high above the Chicago River.  Not only will this be the highest skyscraper walk in the history of the Flying Wallenda family, it will be the first time that he has ever attempted it at such a steep angle.  Nik will then be blindfolded for the second part of the tightrope walk, which will span from the Marina City’s west tower to the east tower.  Dozens of cameras will be positioned across the city and on helicopters – capturing every step as Nik attempts to cross one of the windiest sections of Chicago. 

     

    A seventh-generation member of famed “Flying Wallenda’s,” Nik began performing with his family as a toddler and made his first professional tightrope walk at just 13 years old.  He hopes this latest feat will inspire others to go after their dreams and dedicates it to his family, particularly his great-grandfather, the legendary Karl Wallenda, who died after falling from a tightrope in Puerto Rico in 1978.

     

    Nik will be joined in Chicago by his wife and three children, his close friends and an engineering team led by his father Terry Troffer.

    BBC World Service to Launch The Conversation

    MUMBAI: The BBC World Service is launching a new weekly programme with an all-female line up. The Conversation starts on Monday 27th October (2030 GMT). Each week the programme will explore the success stories of two women from around the world who work in similar fields, through a conversation hosted by the BBC’s Kim Chakanetsa.

     

    How does the experience of the Finnish Ambassador to Nigeria compare with that of Yemen’s first female Ambassador? What does it take to be a female space engineer on India’s Mars mission? Does she come up against the same obstacles as a British Particle Physicist working for CERN? And how do a stand-up comedian from Kenya and a Saudi Satirist navigate their way through the male-dominated comedy scene?  The Conversation brings you the answers.

     

    The Conversation will bring together two women – meeting for the first time, from very different parts of the world and with very different backgrounds. Kim will be finding out what it takes to forge a successful career as a woman in the world today.

    The changing role of women is one of the biggest transitions the world has experienced and the BBC World Service is aiming to capture this progression through The Conversation. Last year the BBC pledged to represent women better in its international news output, kick-starting that drive with the 100 Women Season. The Conversation launch coincides with the return of 100 Women for three days of special programming across the BBC’s international news services on TV, radio and online from Monday 27th October.

     

    The 2014 list of 100 Women will be revealed on Monday 27th October.     MUMBAI: In a star studded evening, ABP News Saas Bahu aur Saazish, the No.1 show of Indian Television News celebrated its 10 year of leadership and revealed the new identity of the program. Right from King Khan- Shah Rukh Khan to leading actress Deepika Padukone, to Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah together with famous faces of Indian Television like Karan Patel, Nia Sharma, Rashmi Desai, Neelu Vaghela etc. inaugurated the much awaited identity of Saas Bahu aur Saazish.

    On this big day, the SBS 10th year evening witnessed hundreds of Television Stars coming together to a glorious evening, wherein the industry, together, felicitated 10 Impact makers of Indian Television. These awards are bestowed to those whose contribution to Indian Television industry is par excellence and they with their zeal and hard work have done path breaking, trend defining work for years. These 10 big stalwarts who received the coveted “Achievers awards trophy 2014” were Annu Kapoor, Prem Krishen/Sunil Mehta, Cineyug (Mazhar Nadiadwala/ Aly Morani), Ali Asgar, Dilip Joshi, Neelu Waghela, Shivaji Satam, Sandip Sikand, and R.D Tailang.

Shah Rukh Khan said, “Saal ki Sabse Entertaining Film, Mil rahi hai Saal ke Sabse Entertaining Program se” (This year’s most entertaining film is meeting the most entertaining program of Indian television”) and hence the celebrations is on the card. Shah Rukh along with his complete co-stars (Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, and Vivaan Shah) called many TV stars on stage and gave them multiple dares including tongue twisters, Dance like Vivaan, speak like Abhishek Bachchan. The highlight of this segment was Deepika Padukone making the leading ladies of Indian soap operas dance on her peppy number “main Lovely ho gayee yaar” thus taking the audience to a huge uproar.
