Discovery brings an ultimate endurance test of survival

MUMBAI: Experts agree there are some very basic and universal rules for surviving in the wild. Find shelter, find water, find food, find help. And, none know this better than Cody Lundin and Joseph Teti, who take on some of the planet’s most unforgiving terrain to demonstrate, in their own way, how the right skills and some creative thinking can keep you alive. Together they could be the most formidable survival team on the planet – if only they could agree on strategy.

Discovery Channels survival series Dual Survivor is back with all new episodes in its exciting new season. The series will witness Cody, one of the world’s foremost experts in self-reliance and living off the land and Joe Teti, a former Force Recon Marine and Army Special Forces soldier using their skills to devise extraordinary ways to survive. Their aim is to demonstrate, in their own way, how the right skills and some creative thinking can keep you alive in the remote corners of the world.

The 10-part series Dual Survival will premiere every Monday to Friday at 9 pm, starting 17 November only on Discovery Channel.

The series will highlight the survival tips of Joe and Cody together as they face their first survival situation on a remote island. Viewers will witness their opposing approaches to survival pit while being trapped in a labyrinth of underground tunnels. Each episode will take viewers through a situation where they are lost on a perilous ridgeline, at 15, 000 feet above sea level. The duo is forced to descend slippery cliffs through extreme weather conditions, where altitude sickness and hypothermia threaten and life-preserving fire allude them. The journey adds more adventure when the dual survivors are stranded deep in the jungle of Vietnam knowing that their expertise can’t change the fact that they’re up against the hottest. Tune in to Discovery Channel and get to experience the tips and tricks to survive in the unforeseen situations.

Can they make it out of one of the thickest jungles in the world? Build a shelter among glaciers and winds blowing at 50 miles-per-hour? Or navigate a crocodile infested lake without a boat? The stakes are higher than ever before and as a twist of events unravels throughout the season, one member of Dual Survival will leave the show for good.

    Highlights

    •    On a glacier and clinging to opposite ends of a rope, Cody and Joe face their most challenging rescue scenario ever. The frozen landscape brings Cody and Joe’s opposing survival styles to the forefront of this journey.

    •    Stranded deep in the jungle of Sri Lanka, Joe comes face-to-face with elephants and is forced off a cliff, Cody masters the ancient fire piston, and they cross a crocodile-infested lake to escape the longest survival scenario in history of Dual Survival.

    •    Stranded in a mangrove swamp in Sri Lanka, the dual survivors escape the crocodile-filled waters only to find themselves in a leech-infested jungle. But this time, distressed elephants interrupt their journey back and they may not get out alive.

Tablet viewers will amount to 1.10 billion by 2020, an impressive five times the 2013 total.

BroadcastAsia is already fuelling this space in Asia and with the introduction of our new TV Everywhere!, we hope to bring together even more case studies on how new entrants are adapting to competition, and how incumbents are maturing their  offerings  to  differentiate  themselves  amongst  competitors,”  says  Mr.  Calvin  Koh, Assistant Project Director of BroadcastAsia, from organiser  Singapore Exhibition Services.

    International collaboration

Regional broadcasting regulators play a vital role in helping to shape the future of the industry, as highlighted by the support shown from the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand (NBTC). This symposium initiated and jointly implemented an initiative aimed at studying the trends and market analysis in the broadcasting industry while promoting international cooperation among policy makers, regulators, and Asia’s industry players.
