    At IBC2019, Videon will showcase its award-winning EdgeCaster edge compute encoder. Videon's EdgeCaster is the industry's first HTTP CMAF streaming encoder that includes multiple-bit-rate outputs in support of ultra-low-latency streaming solutions for broadcast, pro AV, and prosumer applications — at an industry-leading price point.

    IBC2019 Highlight: EdgeCaster Ultra-Low Latency Encoder
    Videon's EdgeCaster product is at the forefront of edge computing. The EdgeCaster enables 4K HEVC and H.264 encoded signals as part of an HLS, DASH, and CMAF workflow, while simultaneously creating six different encoded output versions. By performing these functions that are traditionally carried out in the cloud, EdgeCaster enables faster-than-broadcast latency while also reducing the cost of streaming.

    The key to the EdgeCaster's management of time-laden, expensive cloud functions such as transcoding, format repackaging, multiple-bit-rate creation, and other computationally intensive processes is Videon's intellectual property developed using Qualcomm® technology. With the processing power of the SnapDragon™ chip, the EdgeCaster streams at resolutions up to 4K at 30 FPS using either H.264 or H.265/HEVC compression. The EdgeCaster can also output up to six streams simultaneously, in multiple bit rates and resolutions, using chunked HLS or DASH and still offer the flexibility to take advantage of power over ethernet (PoE).

    As an AWS Elemental Technology Partner, Videon's EdgeCaster interfaces directly to MediaStore and Cloudfront, enabling less than 3 seconds of latency, in scale, over public internet connections using standard HTTP-compatible applications for playback. As a result, EdgeCaster users can easily launch and scale up services — including live, interactive services and other delay-sensitive applications.

    In addition to HTTP-based streaming, the EdgeCaster can simultaneously support two additional low-latency formats. Videon's support for SRT on both encode and decode allows users to stream from building to building or across campuses while achieving latency of less than half a second. EdgeCaster's robust feature set ensures maximum flexibility by touting three low-latency options ranging from worldwide in three seconds, one second interactive, and less than a second for unparalleled point-to-point streaming.

    MUMBAI: BasicFirst, an innovative Ed-Tech start-up, has appointed Alburt Media to manage its media mandate in India. The appointment was a result of a multi-agency pitch. The mandate includes handling overall operations of ATL across India. The account size is estimated to be Rs.300 crores.

    Started with a vision to make quality education available in the remotest locations of India, BasicFirst caters to various academic needs of K6 to K12 students. It is an aptitude-based personalized learning initiative by a group of education experts, which offers post-school education and test-prep guidance.

    WIN News wins ISC-FICCI Sanitation Award 2019

    WIN News has been awarded ISC-FICCI Sanitation Award 2019 for its coverage of sanitation issues in and around Chennai city. 

    The India Sanitation Coalition (ISC), in collaboration with FICCI, has constituted the award in April 2017, to identify and recognize the efforts of various stakeholders, across the sanitation value chain of Build-Use-Maintain-Treat(BUMT). 

    WIN News, received  the Special Recognition Awardfor 'BEST COMMUNICATION IN SANITATION at the third edition of the ISC-FICCI awards ceremony held in New Delhi on 25 April 2019. The award was presented by FICCI President Sandip Somany to Ms.  P.Bhuvaneswari, senior member of the WIN’s editorial team. 

    The purpose of this award is to duly recognize the commendable extensive reporting about  the lack of public toilets, low sanitary maintenance and solid waste management by municipalities and other glaring sanitation issues in Chennai city.

    Starting from now until August 10, TikTok users in India are invited to participate in the #BarcelonaChallenge by uploading videos of themselves sporting the blaugrana (red and blue) colors or wearing a Barça jersey. Five of the most creative videos will stand a chance to win official FC Barcelona jerseys.

    Manorama Online wins two gold, one bronze at afaqs! media awards

    MUMBAI: Manorama Online has won two gold medals and a bronze at the afaqs! media awards. It bagged gold medals in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Best Integrated Campaign categories, while the bronze medal was awarded for its Online Campaign.

    Manorama Online won the top prize in the CSR category for the contest to select the best residents’ associations in Kerala. The contest was organised by its regional news section ‘Chuttuvattom’, in association with Asset Homes. More than 1,200 residents’ associations took part in the contest with the theme 'conservation of water after the 2018 floods’.

    It bagged the second gold medal for its ‘Navamalayali’ campaign, which connected the Kerala diaspora settled in various parts of the world. The campaign was carried out through print and social media, various sections of Manorama Online, display materials and hoardings.

    Manorama Online was selected for the bronze medal in the Online Campaign section also for the Navamalayali campaign. This concept was developed by The Local Network, an advertising agency based in Kochi. 

    The awards were received by Manorama Online Marketing General Manager Boby Paul from Fabindia Chief Brand and Marketing Officer Karan Kumar in Mumbai.
