    Truecaller crosses 500 million downloads and 150 million daily active users globally

    MUMBAI: Truecaller announced today that the company has crossed 500 million downloads and surpassed 150 million daily active users (DAUs) globally. This comes close on the heels of the company sharing the news of attaining over 1 million paying subscribers to their Premium services.

    This is a significant achievement for Truecaller, which is emerging as a one-stop communication platform with a wide array of services like Instant Messaging, VoIP, and Payments. The 150 million DAU’s achievement makes Truecaller the most used communication app in India after apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

    The key factors that have led to this rapid growth are Truecaller’s many communication features like their smart dialer, VoIP capability, Instant Messaging, and their spam-free SMS inbox.

    Sharing his thoughts on this unique achievement, Alan Mamedi, CEO & Co-founder, Truecaller, said “By differentiating ourselves from the standard stock dialer and messaging apps, and solving some fundamental communication problems for our users, we have been able to capitalize and excel the competition.     Along with this milestone Truecaller will soon be rolling out two important features that will revolutionize the standard dialer experience offered by smartphone manufacturers today:

    Call Alerts: In an effort to help users depend less on low-speed and faulty networks, which are prevalent in emerging markets, Truecaller sends a Call Alert to users about who’s calling before the phone rings. This is a big upgrade for millions of Android users.

    Full Screen Caller ID: Truecaller will be introducing the most powerful Caller ID and dialer experience on the market. There simply is no comparison when you look at standard dialers from phone makers. More and more people are finding it challenging to separate work and personal life, especially when they use their phones for both.     MUMBAI: Population Foundation of India’s TV show Main Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hoon has introduced a new vocabulary for people to talk about difficult and taboo topics like family planning and contraception. The “Mast Pitara” or the Carefree treasure chest denotes the basket of contraceptives available for couples to delay or space births. It changes family planning messages often associated with embarrassment or clinical detachment into a way of life, closely interlinked with a loving relation between couples.

    The ‘mast pitara’ in Main Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hoon especially emphasises on temporary methods of contraception including oral contraceptive pills, injectables, condoms, and intrauterine devices. Government data shows that in India, the burden of family planning falls on women with female sterilisations comprising over 75% of the modern contraceptive methods used. opting for as a means of family planning. By popularising the various options available to couples, the Mast Pitara demonstrates how couples can be mast or without worry by adopting a contraceptive method most suited to them.

    Population Foundation of India Executive Director Poonam Muttreja said, “For a society that considers sex and contraception to be taboo topics, the Mast Pitara is a means for people to engage openly in conversations about family planning, and not feel embarassed to seek proper health information from service providers.”

    The show Main Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hoon is an initiative by the Population Foundation of India to increase awareness and change behaviours among people on family planning and women’s empowerment issues. Apart from the television programme that follows the entertainment education approach, the show also has extensions on an Interactive Voice Response System, community radio, digital media and on-ground outreach.

    Main Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hoon revolves around the inspiring journey of Dr. Sneha Mathur, a young doctor, who leaves behind her lucrative career in Mumbai and decides to work in her village. The show has proven to be one of the flagship programmes on the national broadcaster with several repeat telecasts, dubbed and telecast in 13 Indian languages and aired on 216 AIR stations across the country. Season 3 of the show has been produced with support from REC Foundation and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

    Population Foundation of India (PFI) is a national NGO, which promotes and advocates for the effective formulation and implementation of gender sensitive population, health and development strategies and policies.     Globecast and PSSI Global Services announce expanded international media services collaboration

    Los Angeles: Globecast, the global solutions provider for media, announces that it’s partnering with PSSI Global Services, provider of comprehensive event, transmission and connectivity solutions, to enhance media distribution and contribution services for its customers. These include global distribution of news and sporting events, US teleport backup services, and expanded international programming in the US.

    As part of the deal, Globecast has acquired the Galaxy 19 international channel business from PSSI, which includes three Ku-band satellite transponders and associated customers. This arrangement augments Globecast’s already extensive Galaxy 19 suite of customers and increases Globecast’s commitment to the international channel market by 60 percent.  PSSI’s International Teleport will work with Globecast to provide services to the Galaxy 19 customer community as part of this project.

    The partnership will also enhance services for customers needing international contribution and distribution of news and sporting events: Globecast will utilize PSSI’s International Teleport and PSSI’s industry-leading fleet of SNG vehicles.

    "We’ve worked with Globecast a great deal over the years and when it came to looking at altering the emphasis of our business, expanding and solidifying this relationship made perfect sense for both companies. We are already seeing the benefits,” said Robert Lamb, CEO, PSSI.

    Globecast and PSSI previously worked together on the distribution of live events produced by PSSI/Strategic Television. This new deal will expand the international distribution opportunities for both companies and further positions Globecast as the leader in satellite-delivered transnational television programming.

    The Galaxy 19 deal closed in July, with PSSI’s International teleport continuing to provide operational support to customers and Globecast, while Globecast’s Culver City Media Center will now support PSSI’s International Teleport with additional products and services.

While we continue to expand our Galaxy 19 business, we are excited about the additional products and services we can provide, building on our respective East and West Coast presence.     Ms. Reema Datta has been associated with Dainik Bhaskar group since 2008 working in various lead sales roles in Delhi NCR.
