    Mumbai, December 23, 2019: The 11th edition of Myntra’s flagship End of Reason Sale, got off to a flying start, with the company selling 1.77 lakh items within the first 10 minutes of the sale going live and over 3.3 million products on Day 1 of the Key Highlights of Day 1 • 1.8 million app downloads before opening of the sale • 2.2 lakh new customers • 50% – shoppers from tier 2 & 3 cities sale. Myntra registered the highest ever orders on the first day witnessing a 67% rise in orders placed over last year.

    The 2-day price reveal period ahead of the sale saw items wishlisted  100 million times by customers primarily from categories such as T-shirts, tops and dresses.  2.6 lakh orders were placed by 2.3 lakh customers availing the early access facility during the sale preview. The VIP slots knows as Gold Slots before the start of the sale, witnessed 3.8 lakh shoppers placing 4.1 lakh orders.

    Myntra has witnessed enthusiastic participation from tier 2 and 3 cities across the country, with 50% of the orders coming from these regions with jackets, sweatshirts and casual shoes being the most popular items bought. Top tier 2 cities leading the sales on the first day were Noida, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Ranchi and Nagpur.

    As always, the present edition of EORS also brought with it novelty in the form of gamification to engage customers with 4 games, Brand Hunter, Logo Mania, Crossword and Santa Delivery. The games were developed in-house and over 6.5 lakh users played them to earn Insider points during the prebuzz period. Shout & Earn has been hugely popular and tried by 2.2 million people so far.

    Discovery channel’s new documentary ‘India 2050’ to premiere on 29 Dec

    MUMBAI: Discovery Channel is all set to premiere ‘India 2050’, a thought-provoking documentary, on 29 December, 2019 at 9 pm. The film highlights a larger crisis that humanity is likely to face – the crisis of environmental migration and climate refugees, the effects of which we are already facing in 2019 in certain patches in the Sundarbans and on India’s east coast.

    Going forward, experts predict this to be the single most urgent crisis to be faced by every country in the world as sea levels will continue to rise and glaciers will continue to melt bringing about unprecedented and irrevocable changes to human life as we know it.

    The documentary begins with Jaipur, known as the Pink City of India, but imagined as in 2050, completely buried under piles of sand. It then moves into the future of currently flourishing metropolises of Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata, giving viewers a terrifying glimpse of what is to come, for each of these metro cities. 

    Highlighting the importance of the show, Discovery South Asia Content, Factual & Lifestyle Entertainment director Sai Abishek said, “India 2050 shines light on what could lie-ahead if we don’t change. If there is no water, we’ll buy bottled water. But we're not worried about a dying river – because we still get clean water in our taps,” she further adds highlighting human apathy as one of the key reasons as to why we haven’t been able to come together as a species to counter climate change in any way.

    On these lines, a gala event , Rising Karnataka was organized in Bangalore recently by News18 Kannada. Prominent stakeholders from the of  field of politics, education, society, economics, industry, entertainment, cinema etc expressed their valuable ideas and drew the government's attention to innumerable possibilities in the path of progress.

    The crux of the event was the presence of the chief minister of Karnataka, B S Yediyurappa. He was accompanied by the deputy chief minister, Ashwath Narayan.  Shri. B S Yediyurappa assured the gathering that Karnataka will make giant leaps of progress in the next 6 months. His main agenda of reform for the farmers and in areas of irrigation that would aid the farmers and what has been a thorn with erratic rainfall in the state.  He also elaborated on his plans to improve road infrastructure and transport, solving traffic congestion, and touched upon many other relevant issues . He promised that Bangalore will soon be one the best metropolis in the world. He also reiterated that it's not enough if only Bangalore progresses. The other regions of the state must follow suit. He said that he will make great efforts to bring up the other regions by starting industries and providing job opportunities to the youth.

    Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan also elaborated on many of these issues including waste and water management and said all the departments must be brought under one umbrella for cohesive and smooth functioning.

    Freedom fighter H S Doreswamy brought to the CM’s notice the deplorable state of Victoria Hospital. The senior veteran said that the hospital was akin to hell and urged the chief minister to build a new hospital with good amenities. BSY  assured him that this would be fulfilled. He also said, not just the hospital, but the map of entire Bangalore will go through a sea change.

    Padmashree awardee Saalumarada Timmakka,  leaders from BJP,  Congress and JDS , Tinsel stars Sharan, Aditi Prabhudeva, farmers' champion Kuruburu Shanta Kumar, students and office bearers of many organizations were present at the event. They put forth their concerns and questions and suggestions to the government.

    The introductory speech was delivered by News18 Kannada Editor,  Siddappa Kaloji, and elaborated on the aims and aspirations of the event Rising Karnataka. The chief of the Content and Editorial Board, Mr. Santosh Ramachandra Menon, CEO – Languages Cluster, Karan Abhishekh Singh, Special project, Campaign and Event Managing Editor, Mr. Karthik Subbaraman were present.
