    Blake Lively and Ellen Bursteyn to star in The Age of Adeline

    MUMBAI: After being in the limbo for some time now, The Age of Adeline is finally going to go under production in March as a co-production between Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Lakeshore entertainment. Starring in it will be Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively along with Ellen Bursteyn.

     

    Lee Krieger is set to direct the movie which will be released by Lionsgate in the US. The movie speaks about the life of a 29 year old girl who stops ageing after recovering from a near fatal accident. She keeps her secret to herself before she meets a man who changes her life. Jim Tauber and Eric Reid will be executive producers.

     

    Lively is known for her role in Gossip Girl and recently did the movie Savages. She is repped by CAA and Management 360.  Bursteyn by Innovative Artists and The Schiff Co.

    Captain Phillips based on true story releases this Friday

    NEW DELHI: Captain Phillips, an action thriller that has already won rave reviews on the festival circuit in parts of the world, is being released in Indian theatres on 18 October.

    Directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne movies), it stars Tom Hanks, Barkhad Abdi, and Catherine Keener in stellar roles

    The 134-minute film has been certified with a U/A certificate.   

    Columbia Pictures’ action-thriller Captain Phillips stars two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks in the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.

    The film is directed by Oscar nominee Paul Greengrass, from a screenplay by Billy Ray and based upon the book, A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea, by Richard Phillips with Stephan Talty. The film is produced by Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti, and Michael De Luca.

    Gone Girl to release in 2014, Frankenstein pushed to 2015

    MUMBAI: The Ben Affleck starrer Gone Girl has got a release date of 3 October 2014 while 20th Century Fox’s Frankenstein gets a date of 16 January 2015.

     

    rankenstein will see Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe opposite James McAvoy.
    Frankenstein was to open on 17 October 2014 with McAvoy playing Frankenstein and Radcliffe playing Igor. Instead it has decided to release Gone Girl with Affleck and Rosamund Pike in October along with animated family film Book of Life on 17 October.

     

    Fox is working with Regency on Gone Girl, which is under production. Based on a novel by Gillian Flynn it is about a couple who move from a city to a small town and then the wife goes missing.

    MUMBAI: A drama directed by Michael Winterbottom will soon see Kate Beckinsale be a part of the crew alongside Daniel Bruhl and Cara Delevingne.

     

    Scripted by Paul Viragh, the film is based on the book ‘Angel Face’ by Barbie Nadeau with a plot loosely based on Amanda Knox. Amanda Knox was an American woman who was convicted to killing a mate along with her boyfriend in Italy and served four years in prison before the conviction was overturned.

     

    Beckinsale will play a journalist in the movie while Delevingne is playing a suspect and Bruhl is a documentary film maker.

     

    The film will start production in Italy, backed by BBC films and produced by Melissa Parmenter.

    MUMBAI: After it came to be known that Colin Farrell would not be starring in the sequel of Horrible Bosses, new bosses were on the lookout by New Line. A father-son duo were being looked at to be even more horrible than Farrell, who did a splendid job in the first movie.

     

    Chris Pine has agreed to be one of the bosses in the movie. Christopher Waltz was also approached for the movie but he has turned down the offer.

     

    Sean Anders and John Morris are directing the movie that will see actors Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Jamie Foxx in the sequel as well. More roles are yet to be filled for the movie that will release next year on 26 November.

     

    The first movie turned out to be a box office hit collecting over $200 million worldwide and was directed by Seth Gordon.

    Hriday responds to Woody Allen’s decision on Blue Jasmine India release

    MUMBAI: Woody Allen directed Blue Jasmine was set to be released in India two weeks ago but in the last moment was called off since the director did not want to comply with anti- smoking regulations of the country.

     

    Now NGO Hriday (Health Related Information Dissemination Amongst Youth) has responded to Allen’s claim that smoking messages in the movie distracts people. In the letter addressed to Allen, they said that many big movies have complied with the norms and have done well at the box office including The Hobbit, Django Unchained as well as Bollywood production houses like UTV motion pictures and Karan Johar productions also started complying with the rules as soon as they came into effect.

     

    They also said that a study conducted by them showed that youngsters exposed to smoking scenes in movies were twice as likely to try it. They also said that ‘several countries require censor of contents before screening films to confirm to their laws and cultural sensitivities globally’.

     

    Blue Jasmine was to be released by PVR Pictures. The movie has been critically acclaimed regarding Kate Blanchett’s performance. Let’s see whether Allen responds to the mail and consents to release the movie so that Indians don’t have to miss a good one.

    Reliance Entertainment and Dharma Productions sign international distribution deal

    MUMBAI: Dharma productions has got into an agreement with Reliance Entertainment for distributing four movies under the Dharma name overseas. Reliance entertainment’s parent company Anil Dhirubai Ambani Group (ADAG) is equal partners with DreamWorks, allowing it to market and distribute four upcoming movies namely Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, Hassi Toh Phassi, Ungli and Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya.

    The first in line is Gori Tere Pyaar Mein starring Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan. Recently Reliance Entertainment had a deal with Viacom 18 India to distribute its movie Bhaag Milka Bhaag. Movies under the group include big names such as 3 Idiots, Bodyguard, Talaash and Ghajini.

    In the last four years, Reliance entertainment has expanded to around 85 countries.

    Bella Thorne & Kyra Sedgwick set for thriller Big Sky

    MUMBAI: The star of Disney Channel’s about-to-end Shake It Up continues her march into more mature material. Having joined the indie Home Invasion earlier this year, Bella Thorne has now signed on along with Kyra Sedgwick as the leads in Manis Film’s thriller Big Sky.

     

    The English language debut by Jorge Michel Grau, who helmed the original Spanish language chiller We Are What We Are, features Thorne as Hazel and the former The Closer star as her protective mother Dee. On their way to a desert facility to help the teen deal with her paralysing agoraphobia, the two find themselves attacked by gunmen and Hazel has to fight her own demons for the duo to survive.

     

    Frank Grillo, who starred in End of Watch, Zero Dark Thirty and will be in upcoming CaptainAmerica: The Winter Soldier plays the male lead in the film along with Les Miserables’ Aaron Tveit. Randy Manis, Matthew Salloway and Christina Papagjika are producing. Christine Vachon is executive producing for Killer Films with Jeffrey V. Mandel of TBD Syndicate and AKA pictures’ Clayton Young. Ricky Tollman is co-producing.

     

    AKA pictures – a subsidiary of Benaroya Pictures – is co-financing Big Sky. Having finished Warner Bros’ The Familymoon with Adam Sandler and Drew Berrymore earlier this summer, Thorne is next set for Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

     

    With The Closer having wrapped on TNT last year, Sedgwick is scheduled to appear on the big screen in the upcoming Kill Your Darlings, Reach Me and Gren Wells’ The Road Within.

    The Hunger Games: Catching Fire gets India release date as 29 November

    MUMBAI: This November, Universal Pictures will bring The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to India as it gets a date set for 29th. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, the dark adventure is the sequel to the first one – The Hunger Games.

     

    The movie directed by Francis Lawrence will be released in four languages – English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. This movie follows the characters’ life post the first movie. After they have returned home from the Annual Hunger Games they have to leave their family and close friends. Now the Capitol is preparing for the next edition of the games.

     

    The movie will release only one week post the worldwide launch which is on 22 November. The first movie became a blockbuster hit worldwide and the third and fourth in the series are already in the making, slated for releasing in the next two years.
