    Sony Le Plex HD to premiere Foxcatcher in India

    MUMBAI: “A coach is a father. Coach is a mentor. Coach has great power on an athlete’s life,” says John Du Pont, the coach of team Foxcatcher.

    Sony Le Plex HD is all set to unfold critically acclaimed and award winning film Foxcatcher on 4 December at 1pm and 9pm time slot.

    Based on the real events surrounding wrestling enthusiast John Du Pont’s recruitment of Olympic gold medalist wrestler brothers Mark and Dave, and the succeeding murder, Sony Le Plex HD will showcase the Indian television premiere of the film in their slot Le Premiere.

    Directed by Bennett Miller, the film revolves around multimillionaire John du Pont (Steve Carell), who runs and funds a training academy after being unable to make a mark as a wrestler himself, due to family pressure.

    Along with nominations in five categories at Academy Awards, three in Golden Globe, and a nomination for the prestigious Palme d’Or, Bennett Miller won the Best Director Award for the film at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

    MUMBAI: The Motion Picture Association Asia-Pacific Copyright Educator Award will be bestowed on comScore India managing director, theatrical, Rajkumar Akella, at CineAsia in Hong Kong. comScore which is an American media measurement and analytics company providing marketing data and analytics to many of the world’s largest enterprises, media and advertising agencies, and publishers.

    The annual CineAsia convention will be held 6-8 December at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, wherein awards will be given away to the deserving. CineAsia is the platform for the those seeking to learn the ins and outs of owning and operating cinemas in the booming Asia-Pacific region.

    Major studio representatives will be in Hong Kong with presentations of their 2017 product: Sony Pictures International, Paramount Pictures International, Twentieth Century Fox International, Universal Pictures International, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International and Warner Bros. Pictures International, along with EuropaCorp. The lineup of feature screenings includes Fox’s NASA drama Hidden Figures, Disney’s South Seas animated adventure Moana, Warner Bros.’ Will Smith starrer Collateral Beauty, and Universal’s animated musical Sing and M. Night Shyamalan chiller Split.

    Seminars at CineAsia will cover a wide range of trending topics, including “Maximizing Business Performance Through Investments in Next-Generation Cinema Technology,” “Attracting Millennials and Reinventing Cinema,” “Driving Global Conversion to Laser Technology” and “Online Ticketing.” The National Association of Concessionaires and the International Cinema Technology Association, meanwhile, coordinated programming for “CineAsia University” on the tradeshow floor.

    NAC sessions will focus on topics such as putting the customer first, inventory issues, promotional tie-ins, and Coca-Cola’s suggestion on “refreshing the movies.” The ICTA’s Thursday lineup, meanwhile, covers in-theatre gaming and ticketing with the cloud.

    At Sony’s presentation, veteran Sony executive Noriaki “Dick” Sano will accept a Lifetime Achievement Award from CineAsia. This year’s awardees are — Mei Lee Koh, CEO of Golden Screen Cinemas, as “Exhibitor of the Year”; Walt Disney International as “Distributor of the Year,” with the prize accepted by David Kornblum, VP, international sales and marketing, APAC/Russia, and international film acquisitions; and CineAsia official sponsor GDC Technology as “Technology Innovator of the Year,” to be accepted by chairman and CEO Dr. Man-Nang Chong.     MUMBAI: MN+ is all set to get a musical twist this November with their latest property The Right Notes. The property will feature a line-up of Hollywood’s finest musical movies that will air every Saturday throughout the month at 11 pm.

    The musical extravaganza will begin with the movie 8 mile, starring Eminem. The movie is a story of a young rapper, born fighter who against all odds strives to reach the epitome of success. It showcases the man’s struggle and features the obstacles he faces in the form of friends and foes that makes this trip harder than it may seem.

    Following that is another film based on the true story of musician Ray Charles. Titled Ray, the movie depicts the humble beginnings the artist had in life, where he lost his eyesight at the age of 7, and then rose to fame during the 1950s and 1960s.

    Other movies that feature in this exclusive line-up are — Jersey Boys and Billy Elliot the Musical. These movies will air every Sunday at 11 pm.

    MN+ will also showcase various other properties like Pathbreakers which is a compilation of the best of Hollywood movies that redefined cinema till date and Hollywood Gold which showcases Hollywood’s finest movies like Rain Man, Clerks, Equilibrium and Ray.
